I think that fandom glosses over how fucked up the Alexandrites are: In Doctor Sex, Pal jokes about Cam being stolen away to the Alexandrites--but Cam is a CHILD here. IDK, the Alexandrites are straight out of the Handmaid's Tale, and it's just another example of how the Empire both enables and commits sexual violence against people

YUPPP. we've talked about this so much in the discord server because it really is so wild. it certainly doesn't seem like non-necromancers on the sixth choose which soldier division (hot and competent, hot and incompetent, ugly and competent) they're pulled into, meaning they're being judged on their physical abilities and attractiveness, which is both beyond fucked up and imo def plays into the cavalier-as-female gender binary analysis. and it also seems like non-necromancers don't have a ton of options (in any house) if they don't train to join the cohort — non-necromancers cannot rule, and how high they can ascend in house society seems limited. i might be mistaken, but it certainly seemed like all the scientists in doctor sex were adepts considering their psychometric abilities, and camilla says that if she weren't pal's cavalier she would have gone into data entry. which, once again: one section of society is categorically barred from even taking the tests that would allow them to rule/gain significant political say, based on a seemingly immutable characteristic? rings a bell...

Upon rewatching s7, its very interesting that Lana believed that Clark was meant for more and tried to push him towards that. But it fails. It’s just not enough for him for the girl who he thinks is the love of his life to push him to that destiny. Some may say that it was because he wasn’t ready to accept his destiny but I beg to differ.

In Hex, it is important to note that while it was Chloe encouraging Clark to take that leap to get to the roof, all Clark was seeing was Lois. He had no clue who he was or what he was capable of. But in his mind, Lois was encouraging him to be great, that he is great and more than just the average Joe. He accepts this and looks to the roof he’s about to jump on. Then he looks back, as if to say thank you but then is greeted with the real Chloe staring right back at him. At this point, it is safe to presume that the spell on Clark has completely worn off.

Lois just inspires him. Martha sees that. Clark acknowledges that by saying “you got me to fly” and “you’ve always believed in me”. The key word is always. And she has. She always believed he would do great things which is why she jumped at the DP opening for him, even when he didn’t see it for himself.

I do not think that it was an intentional and conscious decision on Clark’s part to reject what Lana was pushing him towards. But it’s a testament of the undeniable trust he has in Lois and the trust she has in him. He believes in her so much that he’s able to believe in himself and take that leap of faith as long as Lois is there with him.

The Beauty of Jarrich

I just think it's wonderful how Jared was this shell of a person back at Hooli but then he became his true authentic self when he joined Pied Piper and blindly became loyal to Richard (which arguably is terrifying and dangerous but let's focus on the fluff). Back at Hooli, Jared was friends with the brogrammers (who clearly had no qualms when making fun of awkward people like Richard meaning that Jared put on a more smooth persona for them) and was an established advisor and right hand employee for Gavin. Overall, he was damn good at his job and fitting in. Then, he really blossoms after meeting Richard. Jared takes that risk to bring Richard a bottle of wine and confess his admirations back in Season 1. And now we're here.

YES ANON!! ugh this is SUCH a good point. my thing is like, i don't understand how people can argue that the nine houses are post-sexism, post-homophobia, post-gender roles, etc. when you have seven of eight houses relying on a hereditary system of governance that by definition values heirs based on their reproductive capacity. the scene where harrow uses her father's corpse to shoot down the suggestion that she marry and have kids with ortus is honestly horrifying. regardless of whether she's even attracted to men (something nobody seems to care about), she's a child in that scene and already the adults around her are discussing her reproductive capacity. not to mention ortus is, what, eighteen? years older than her. in a world where harrow's parents killed 200 children for one necromantic heir, there is no way all the scions aren't being forced to reproduce whether they like it or not. considering how the themes of the horror of pregnancy/birth and reproductive violence come up again and again, i can't see this detail as anything but intentional, either.

WHY do people insist that Jonathan needs to take Lex in as his unofficial son??? Jonathan had every right to treat Lex the way he did. Granted, sometimes it was a bit much but I totally understand where he’s coming from when Lex is the way he is. And the gag?? Jonathan was RIGHT the entire time! You CANNOT trust a Luthor. Lex was invading Clark’s privacy from s1. He literally hired a PI to investigate him. And this is the man y’all want Jonathan to accept and be an honorary father to?? bffr. If Lex truly wanted that relationship, he would’ve stopped invading their privacy and respected Clark, his secret and family, like a regular human being.

What is your opinion of Smallville's Lois Lane? What do you like about her?

Ohh man what i can possibly say that hasnt been said before??

As a character she just brings life to every scene shes in. She literally brought life into the show itself in s4. and if i didnt know she was coming i probably would’ve quit it.

See i did it all for her.

Like that writer said on the podcast she was just a different voice on the show which meant she pushed the already established characters in different ways that we hadnt seen before and that was always interesting to watch. Especially for clark she brought out a different side of him that made me love him as well. Cause who knew clark could be funny like that?

Now thinking of her in universe: taylor swift wrote you’re on your own kid about her actually. im sitting here thinking about what to say bc theres so much i love about her. ok lois is such a good friend shes such a good friend to everyone. shes so loyal a ride or die. her first storyline is about finding out what happened and getting justice for chloe bc she cares that much about her cousin and shes like 18/19 at this point. and shes so smart too i mean she figures it out she plays lionel like a fiddle to gather information and breaks into her dad’s office and then saves clark from that guy ultimately reaching her goal of saving chloe. That’s our introduction to her. She gets shit done. And she gets shit done bc she cares.

And that’s whats amazing about her i guess. She gets into all sorts of trouble throughout the series bc she cares. She cares about shelby being okay, she cares about her sister, she cares about chloe (so many diff episodes to count), she cares about the kents (by helping after the meteor shower, helping jonathan, being there for martha afterwards, by taking care of clark constantly), she cares about lana to give her advice during s5 and then s6 when shes with lex. Lana literally says that she’s a great listener. She cares about oliver, even after he breaks her heart shes there for him always.

I think thats one of the things that connects her to clark. Ive seen people mention that they always end up in the same place in the same trouble. And it’s bc they both care too much they cant help but care too much to not get involved. clark gets involved through his hero ways and lois through journalism.

That’s what makes her so inspiring to me. Her words are reflected through her actions. It’s easy to care but it’s hard to do something about it (which is something that im personally trying to learn) but she does it all the time (and even when she falters she always moves forward and does better).

I know she’s not perfect she has flaws (shes loud shes rude shes bossy😏) but that only makes her more interesting. Anyways i could be here all day for real make a whole essay.

I just love her so much.
