Brahma is 'The God of Creation; The creator of Universe, Vedas and People'. He is also known as Svayambhu (self-born), Vagisa (Lord of Speech), and the creator of the four Vedas, one from each of his mouths.
Brahma is one of the pillars of the Hindu gods, the creator god and one of the Trimurti (three aspects of the Supreme God). It is said to have four faces, each of which is said to face east, west, north, south, and west. They hold in their hands not a weapon, but a symbol of knowledge and creation.
He is often depicted with a white beard, which symbolises his experience and knowledge like the rishis (holy hermits). He is depicted sitting on a lotus, dressed in white (or red or peach-colored) clothing, and his vahana (the animal that is supposed to be his vehicle), the swan Hansa.
The Brahma Purana describes that there was nothing, but an eternal ocean. From which, a golden egg, called Hiranyagarbha, emerged. The egg broke open and Brahma, who had created himself within it, came into existence. Then, he created the universe, the earth and other things. He also created people to populate and live on his creation.

ブラフマーは、ヒンドゥー教の神の1柱、創造神でありトリムルティ（最高神の3つの様相）の1つに数えられる。4つの顔を持ち、それぞれの顔は東西南北を向いているとされる。武器ではなく、知識や創造を象徴するものを手に持つ。
しばしば白いひげを蓄えた姿で描写され、これはリシ（聖仙）たちのような経験と知識を備えていることを象徴する。蓮の上に座り、白い服（または赤か桃色の服）をまとい、彼のヴァーハナ（乗り物とされる動物）である白鳥のハンサが描かれる。
ブラフマー・プラーナよれば、そこには何も存在しなかったが、永遠の海があったと書かれてある。そこから、ヒラニヤガルバと呼ばれる黄金の卵が出現した。その卵が開き、ブラフマがその中に自分自身を創造した。そして、宇宙や地球などを創造した。彼はまた、自分の創造上に人々が住むために、人間を創造した。
