Since rare pairs are so beloved and welcome in the SVSSS fandom, I've put together a spreadsheet of various svsss shipnames* (or tumblr ship tags). I did my best to check each and every possible combination of individual shipnames (based on the characters' names) here on tumblr and I put them in the table according to the key given under the read-more below.
Here's where I come to you for help:
I might have missed the names for some of these ships, or not included some svsss characters, or come up with a shipname suggestion that's more complicated than a suggestion you have. If there are any corrections or suggestions you have, feel free to comment in the spreadsheet or under this post!
(Ships with characters from other media go under the table. There is also a tab for polyships that's only filled with the polyships I knew of or stumbled upon my search. Feel free to suggest more!)
The spreadsheet is in commenting access and I have a duplicate copy saved in case anything happens.
*This spreadsheet is only a reference I made for fun and not meant to police anybody's fun. I just keep missing out on the existing rare pairs! I've learned about so many and got obsessed with completely new ones while doing this. There's so much potential for so many of them!
The key:
black font - the shipname is in use for this ship, there are posts for this ship tagged with it
bold font - this is the shipname I've found to be used most/more often (mostly used when there are several shipnames in use for a ship)
purple font - I couldn't find a tag for this ship so I came up with a new one. This is my shipname suggestion
✨ note: if a shipname/ship tag for this ship does exist, please help me out and leave a comment in the spreadsheet for the specific cell
✨ 2nd note: a shipname for this ship might already exist or somebody has used a tag for it, but the tag conflicts with another shipname or with another fandom, so I decided to give my own suggestion anyway
asterisk*: there are different (mostly years-old) posts in this tag
exclamation point(!): a tricky shipname, definitely needs a different suggestion
🟩 green cell: the tag is empty, there are no other posts on tumblr tagged with it! (or that's what tumblr showed me)
🟪 purple cell: there's a possible conflict in shipnames (especially for ships/character from different universes)
e.g. bingjiu, as it is currently used, may refer to PIDW!Binghe x Shen Jiu but also SVSSS!Binghe x Shen Jiu
✨ note: in purple cells you might find a suggestion from me for an alternate shipname that has an empty tag on tumblr: in these cases, the suggested name will be written in a bold, green font.
red font TBA - I'm begging on hands and knees for help because I gave up on coming up with shipnames for these because all of them either conflicted with others or came up to be in ongoing use by other fandoms
...probably something else I don't remember now
For some ships with no ship tag, I might have suggested two or more shipnames. Let me know if you like one more than the other (or if you have a different idea! Please make sure the shipname isn't in ongoing use for other fandoms on tumblr).
For some ships with characters like Shen Qingqiu (Shen Yuan) who can be shipped in both Shen Qingqiu form and Shen Yuan form, in some places I suggested two possible ship names.
I'll also use this opportunity to propose we come up with just one shipname for Gongyi Xiao x Shen Qingqiu because "gongyishen, xiaoshen, gongshen, gongqiu, gongyuan, shenxiao" is quite many variations for just one (possibly two) ships 😂
But the problem? Is I know fuck all about Xianxia Talismans creation? For example: in Harry Potter? They use Runes. In a circle, written like a symbolic sentence/command. In Naruto: they use Fuinjutsu, which is chakra charged ink and normal characters, preferably in a circle but not necessarily so. Written as symbolic computer code/chemistry/poetry (its esoteric.)
So what? Is a Xianxia Talisman?
I already know ARRAYS are multiply Talismans working/placed strategically to function together. And that Treasures are made through a mix of Qi effusion, potential spiritual awakening of objects, and highly complexe arrays etc. Since it's a broad af category.
Treasure Makers? Are mostly like the word "scientist". It doesn't tell you SHIT. Do they make swords? Fans? Exclusively glass butterflies? Maybe! But they studied for YEARS and got that degree, baby! That's DOCTOR craftsman, to you! They EARNED those letters next to their name!!!
Of course, slapping a "Legendary" on there? That's different.
You only get "Legendary Craftsman/Treasure Maker" when you make a DIVINE grade Treasure more then once. Cause once could be a fluke. An act of the heavens and your own good fortune. But, like, THREE times? That's on PURPOSE.
THAT means you can keep doing it.
So... like... does anyone have references? For SVSSS or just a good Xanxia system in general?
I've decided to organize my peak lords/ladies because they were starting to drive me insane and it might help someone out there that wants to write SVSSS fanfic idk. This is what I've got:
The ones with an * are fanon names that I got either from the @oojaneblonde on AO3, or got them from people helping me out here on tumblr ( thank you @xmoriartea and @busysavingtheuniverse !! :D)
The hierarchy is basically the up arrow is how the person is going to call the older martial siblings, the down arrow is how they are going to call the younger martial siblings. I based myself on this awesome guide on how to write XianXia by @velveteenuzhi on AO3
So Shang Qinghua is going to address Wei Qingwei as Wei-shixiong but address Mu Qingfang as Mu-Shidi.
And as I was doing this I realized I have to go back to some 12/12 fics and edit stuff ckdbskdnsk but anyway
Yesterday, I found a twitter thread saying that Evillious shouldn't be supported. Among the reasons, it includes Venomania's character and it says that it romantizes brainwashing and incest.
You could replace the thread with "stupid author, stupid novels" and it would look the same.
Some of you are so haters of things you supposedly like, that you're in the way to be isekai-ed into that work as a character that ends up dying in a horrible way.
