What an incredible evening at The Strand Bookstore last night. So many powerful and moving testimonials of #survivors and all we have learned to do to overcome past experiences. I'm so proud of this project and how it provides much needed support directly to survivors. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event. You filled every seat, and many more attendees stood around the back for most of the event. We sold the majority of the inventory of Things We Haven't Said, and there are a few remaining signed copies you can still order if you missed the event. Thank you to Erin E. This page goes along with the re-blogged Tumblr post on the #SVYALit project (see below). This is a post on the School Library Journal’s Teen Librarian Toolbox page that talks about a teen book club and their feelings on discussing the topic of sexual violence in novels they read. The director of the book club asked her book club members whether they would like to discuss such a topic or not. Surprisingly enough, she ended up getting the most participation that week of book club than she ever had before. This site is interesting because it actually gets the young adult's perspective on this issue, an important viewpoint that isn't normally considered. I encourage you to read this page for yourself.
