Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness | Fan FilmSwankiest of the Week

This is quite possibly the best fan film that I've ever seen!  I was entertained from beginning to end and when it was over all I wanted was more.  Everything here simply works.  The writing is great, the acting is solid, the special effects are beautiful and the cinematography is spot on. 

Bonus points for the great impression Bruce Campbell's Ash.  I've seen many people try and all have come up short.  If we ever see a true AoD reboot I think Bruce would be honored to pass the torch on to this guy.

This short lived series is a dinosaur in internet years but it remains one of my all time favorites.  I still check the website at least once a month with the hope that they have found a way to give us more of this great show.  Sadly, it's been quite some time since their last update so hope is fading.  On the plus side, Michelle Morgan has kept busy with Heartland and some other projects.

Swankiest of the Week From the Future with Love

The future portrayed in this short film is certainly a bleak one.  It never ceases to amaze me at the great content amateur filmmakers keep putting out.  This short film is way better than anything I've seen on the new Robocop film.  I bring up that atrocity due to some obvious similarities but everything here is on a much higher level.  It's quite impressive what this team has managed to do with a 12 minute short film.

Spoiler Alert!  This thing ends with three little words: To Be Continued.  I sure hope so!

Swankiest of the Week The Backwater Gospel

This is the most haunting and memorable animated film that I have ever seen.  There is certainly a message to be found here and it's a potent one. 

"As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die."

Swankiest of the Week The Flying Man

In the last few years, Hollywood has given us quite a lot of superhero movies.  The styles and tones have been all over the place.  Some good, some bad.  However, NONE of them were anything like this!  The closest thing I could even compare it to would be some twisted mix of the Dark Knight and Kick-Ass.

Everything about this is fantastic.  I was immediately hooked, right from the first frame of the film.  I would be amazed if Hollywood isn't already trying to snatch up the rights to turn this into a feature length film.

Swankiest of the Week Knock Knock | Pete and Brian

This video is over 6 years old but it still remains one of my all time favorite things on the internet.  I have no idea why this comedy duo never got a big break and it's a damn shame.  Thankfully they put out a lot of quality content on Youtube and Hulu.

Versus Valerie

"Geek" is rapidly becoming an overused buzzword but I'm not going to let that stop me.  At it's heart, Versus Valerie is a tale of love but it's wrapped up in geek culture.  Every episode has a different theme ranging from Zombies to Harry Potter and Call of Duty to the Matrix.  Oh, and of course Star Wars and Star Trek both see play here too.

I love the themed episodes but the story at the center is still strong enough to stand on it's own.  The characters are likeable and everything is well written and acted.  There are even some great cameos and guest stars, the highlight of which has to be Mark Meer (the voice of Commander Shepard from Mass Effect).

If you like the show then you should also check out the "in-world" Sexy Nerd Girl Blog.  That's right, the Valerie character has a real world blog but it's written as the character.
