Little rant..
Idk why but I keep seeing people mention how toxic the swanqueen fandom is and was but I was fresh out of the closet and 14yo when I got messages of people calling me slurs and insulting the shit out of me because I shipped swanqueen....
There's toxic fans in every fandom, we can't control that but the fandom was never generally toxic and the only reason it seems that way in 2025 is because we're angry, we have every right to be. We were ridiculed and hated on for years to an extreme degree, we have no reason to be nice to outsiders.
"But sq fans were so weird towards Jen and Lana" so were some c******s*** shippers?? Because like I said, those fans exist everywhere! People always took any opportunity to talk about anything bad someone that shipped sq did to the point it made it look like it happened way more often than it actually did.
I also saw someone say Swanqueen would've never been so popular if Regina was a man which pmo so bad 'cause don't you even go there. That's not a line that works for sapphic ships. Which for the sake of it: Yes a lot of sapphic ships wouldn't work if one of them was a man, simply because queerness can add a lot to a relationship, a lot more debt and feelings that just wouldn't exist if it was an average social acceptable straight relationship. But that's not even the case for swanqueen bc the show proved us over and over again that it would've happened if one of them was a man. ( seen with them being paralleled to snowing quite frequently, and sometimes other canon relationships. and with their male partners being a temu version of each other. )
Being mad at Swanqueen's popularity when we're knocking at 2026's door is just embarrassing. Like, they won? Emma stayed with Hook and had her boring ass heterosexual ending and we got nothing so why are they so whiny and bitter all the time.
