Chapter 37

I once saw a tweet that said: Forget about smut; the really hard part is writing a fight scene.

And that person was absolutely right. For the Zelena vs. Regina fight in ROTH, I listened to the Dragon Ball Z soundtrack—the little fight tune.

For this one here, I listened to the score from The Count of Monte Cristo—the French movie that came out a few years ago, with music by Jerome Rebotier—and Hans Zimmer’s Batman Begins score.

I’m not entirely satisfied with either fight scene—for starters, because I feel like I should be better at describing the actual blows—but it is what it is.

I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friend’s parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friend’s parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.

i am fascinated by people who say they shave their legs for sensory reasons because like. im not saying i don't believe you but god i cannot relate. shaving is sensory hell. 30 minutes of running a tiny irritating blade along your skin again and again twisting and turning trying to make sure you got every spot (and very easy to accidental cut yourself and cause irritation) and then after like 4 days of smoothness you enter the stubble torment dimension where you skin becomes a cactus trying to fight itself. brother count me out i'll keep my full leg forest.

I’m going to say something you’ve probably all guessed already, but… give men's products a try.

There’s this whole world of traditional shaving out there, with all kinds of soaps, pre-shave treatments, and after-shave balms.

My favorite is Proraso; their products are free of petroleum derivatives and smell really good.

Oh, and safety razors. Gillette wants you to think that the more blades your plastic disposable razor has, the better. That’s a lie. You only need one sharp blade and a mild safety razor to start (like an Edwin Jagger), plus just three passes—keeping the stroke as straight as possible.

I haven’t had any ingrown hairs since I started, and a single tube of cream lasted me over a year.

Yeah, the patriarchy wants to keep the nice experiences for men only.
