Swansight was considered blessed by Grapedream/Dionysus when his adult eye color came in, as Grapedream is said to have one eye green as the vines, and one as dark and purple as grapes. This birth blessing made Swansight's parents push him into training as a hearthkeeper, where he could cook and help the healers prepare medicine. He was actually much happier as a soldier on guard duty, though, and performed soldier duties as often as he could in his youth.

He was grateful when King Rockfleck picked him as his heir and has taken fully to soldier-like duties in between his responsibility of managing what remains of the Snake's Head Council. At the same time, however, his last remaining daughter and her mate died in the war with the humans, leaving Swansight to raise his grandson and granddaughter by himself. He's got a lot to worry about now that his dreams have come true.
