wasteland baby! and carrie & lowell!!

wasteland baby!top 3: almost (sweet music), no plan & wasteland, baby!overall: this morning is the first time i listened to this album zsdxfcgvhbjn & i am SURPRISED at how much i enjoyed it, i think these songs have a rly good, driving energy- i definitely had the (wrong) impression that all of his music was very downbeat/slow/acoustic but like, no plan has this kind of buzzy bassline and beat thats very arctic monkey-ish ??? in a super unexpected way? and it Is sexy. they’re, gentle but in a very certain and assured/reassuring way that feels.. comforting? & i love what seems to be the general theme of, love and affection and hope in a hostile environment, which i think is exactly the kind of art we need rn.

carrie and lowelltop 3 songs: fourth of july, john my beloved, should have known betteroverall: i love love sufjan but i don’t have much to say about carrie & lowell other than that its very soft and open but in a very bare and upsetting way and i don’t,,, listen to it as much as his other stuff. but i do love the line thats like ‘the man who taught me how to swim couldn’t quite say my first name/ and he called me subaru’

Mimon- Follows a young hedge witch named Hester, who is being haunted by more than just her student loans.

The Fishermen’s Favour- A fairy tale about a calm little seaside town where nothing unusual ever happens, especially not at sea, and most certainly not to unsuspecting young fishermen.

On a Sunbeam- Throughout the deepest reaches of space, a crew rebuilds beautiful and broken-down structures, painstakingly putting the past together.

INGOVY- Three children escape a life of slavery and travel north through the Jungle Queen’s empire.

Eerie Crests- Something lurks in the quiet town of Blue Crests.

What would your dream vacation be?

italy! florence and rome and sicily, for the art and the architecture and the food. i am an absolute slut for the baroque and would kill a man for the chance to see That borromini church

What’s your favorite season?

spring. nothing will ever get me as much as the time i looked out of the window of a grotty student bedroom over a field to see baby lambs, and realised that i lived somewhere with baby lambs now

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

ophelia is also dead and laika (my plays) winning gangbusters at the festivals they were in, i am forever grateful for those opportunities
