hold the fuck on... why am i hearing this just recently?
git, the code versioning tool, is pronounced with a hard G and always has been. this isn't a gif/jif thing it's just been this way since the start. now within the past few weeks i've seen a few videos and heard a colleague pronounce it "jit"
you look it up on wikipedia and it specified hard G git. mr linux himself linus torvalds calls it git.
How do you pronounce git (the code versioning tool)?
hard G git like gift (correct)
soft G jit like giraffe (incorrect)
i dont use this word regularly
p.s. any nudniks trying to pull the old "buhhh you're a prescriptivist language evolves" nonsense with me will be destroyed on sight. words have meanings and you need to learn how they're pronounced, grow up
