It may not sound scary, but from the perspective of Shen Qingqiu and the original Shang Qinghua it's horrible. There's an unknown entity clinging to them.

Shen Qingqiu gets it the worst. At first he tried to inform someone—but there was this bright light and this blaring sound ringing in his head. His body spasms and suddenly it's not in his control. He feels like he's untethered from his body as he watches it pretend that all is well. It's even worse when he realizes that not only do people not seem to care, they seem to like this imposter better.

When Shen Qingqiu regains control of his body he once again tries to communicate something—anything—with his martial siblings. Each time his consciousness is ripped from his body, leaving him to watch as his body moves uncontrollably. His movements are always fluid, as if there's not an invader within it, convincing everyone else that everything is okay.

In his sleep he thinks he sees the entity in his body. It has a face that's shrouded in shadows, and it wears his skin like clothes. It's inky hair is short and unkempt, and the only thing that's visible on its head are those eyes. The eyes that look at him like they're seeing scum, eyes that see through him.

Shen Qingqiu can not hide, he is trapped in his mind with a creature that clearly doesn't like him. He has none of the abilities he'd painstakingly worked for, and he feels like he's a child, back in that manor.

Shen Qingqiu wakes up with a start.

In Shang Qinghua's case it's not any better, he's had the feeling of being watched since childhood. There'd been moments where he'd black out and can't remember anything afterwards. He does things he wouldn't usually do, acts the way he wouldn't usually act.

He's feels the weight of another on his back every time he interacts with Mobei-Jun. Faintly he wonders if the jig is up each time. He's anxious, he can't sleep anymore--not that he needs to anymore, his cultivation base can support many sleepless nights--because every night he's plagued by visions of his sect members breaking into his home and ripping him apart.

If not his sect members it's Mobei-Jun he imagines. He imagines the demon figuring things out, he imagines Mobei-Jun disposing of him in the dead of the night. If he can fall asleep, things only get worse. He encounters himself in his dreams, a version of him that gets on well with his sect and Mobei-Jun. In his dreams he's made to feel like he's the impostor in his own body.

At the end of each dream, the version of him that jokes around with Shen Qingqiu freely turns and faces him. Shang Qinghua watches as he points at himself, as this alternate version of him brands him as fake, as everyone he knows turns against him. The worst part is, he starts to believe it. Shang Qinghua's body dysmorphia is insane, he feels like his skin isn't his own, that he's wrong.

And he's starting to think that everyone's figured it out.
