An old idea for a comic is resurfacing and I fear I may be giving in. It's about pirates and adventures that live in the all encompassing void between all realities that go around exploring chunks of other realities that get pulled into the void as strange islands. Magic 8 ball guy might make an appearance if I can lock in

I've been consuming Sherlock Holmes media lately and have started letting it influence my Varis-Mordecai dynamic, and I am so glad I have. They went from being a simple tragic yaoi nobleman-and-servant affair, to being a couple desperately trying to keep their coupleness a secret while simultaneously navigating the Waterdeep high society scene WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY TRYING TO PREVENT MORDECAI'S MURDER. I have never had so much fun with D&D characters. At this point they aren't even D&D characters, they're full blown OCs set in the Dungeons and Dragons universe (I know that's not much different but humor me)
Wanted to expand on this because I am incapable of being normal about them
Mordecai is the son of one of the richest noble families in Waterdeep, so he tries to keep up with expectations. He's mediocre at best when it comes to being the ideal nobleman his mother wants him to be, because his real talents lie in his studies. If he could, he'd spend all day reading and researching the topics he likes, curled up in an armchair or out in the gardens. He's also trained very well in combat, but he tries not to lean into it too much because he doesn't like hurting people. I think technically he'd be an eldritch knight eventually? Not at first but his research would lead him that way. Mordecai is wise, soft, and kind.
Varis is contrast. Where Mordecai is wise, Varis is clever. Mordecai may know more in general, but Varis can utilize the information he's given to get results. Clever, manipulative, but kind as well. They aren't sun and moon, they're moon and star. The complement each other like colors. Mordecai knows general things and is a powerful fighter, Varis has street-smarts and the manipulative magic to use them.

taps mic. came back wrong because i had to. came back wrong because there was no other choice. came back wrong because it's what my past self would have wanted—to be sacrificed in the name of survival. came back wrong because maybe to you i could've kept going how i was, how you liked me, but this world you perpetuate was so hostile and hungry i had to grow spines lest i be eaten up by it. came back wrong and i cant stand what i've become but at least i am alive and at least there is hope. is this thing on
