sometimes i think about how swedish is a really weird language so here are some literally translated swedish words
flodhäst - river horse (hippo)
igelkott - leech [pine] cone (hedgehog)
tvättbjörn - wash bear (raccoon)
sugrör - suck pipe (straw)
dammsugare - dust sucker (vaccuum cleaner)
tandkött - tooth meat (gums, my personal favorite)
späckhuggare - lard stabber (orca/killer whale. lard is pig fat)
and some words that have completely innocent meanings in swedish but very different ones in english
fack - compartment
slut - end (which is where you get the lovely slutstation)
fart - speed
puss - kiss
bra - good
prick - spot
prat - talk
kant - edge
kock - chef
sometimes when i really need to ground myself i pick up my stupid little marker and my stupid little sketchbook and write down @dagenssvenska’s random posts
My top ten Swedish-language songs in Eurovision Song Contest
After having listened and pondered and listened some more, I came up with a list of my personal top ten Eurovision songs that were performed in the Swedish language at the contest. Then I decided to hand-letter, colour and decorate the list, just because I felt like it. The style of decorations for each song is based on lyrics and vibes.
i fear i may have peaked with my swedish notes
