Hating on Taylor Swift isn’t actually about her music or her actions—it’s just a massive double standard rooted in misogyny, and everyone refuses to admit it. It is completely fair if you don’t enjoy her music, don’t like her vibe, or have actual constructive criticism. That’s totally fine! But the sheer HATE she gets is completely unreasonable, and every single excuse people use to bring her down falls apart the second you actually look at the facts.
First of all, the whole “she’s a billionaire” argument. People act like she has a billion dollars in cash sitting in a vault like Scrooge McDuck. She has a net worth of a billion dollars, which means her music, her property, and everything she owns equals that value. Her music catalog alone is worth well over 400 million dollars, and her legs are literally insured for over a hundred million. She doesn’t have a billion dollars sitting in a bank; she is worth a billion dollars because of an empire she built herself by writing her own songs and owning her own work. So instead of tearing her down for achieving that as a woman in the industry, why aren’t we applauding it?!? And yes, she is extremely rich, but she donates CRAZY amounts of money to food banks, charities, and tour staff at every single stop. She just doesn’t make it a massive PR stunt like a lot of other celebrities. She does it quietly for the good of it, not for other people's approval.
Second, the “she doesn’t speak up” point. She has openly spoken up about plenty of stuff. But what people completely ignore is that at her level of fame, her words have real-world safety risks. The last time extreme situations happened around her, fan lives were literally put in danger. So sorry if she doesn’t want to constantly put the actual lives of her fans at risk just SO you guys can check a box and validate her online.
Third, “she’s overrated.” No, she isn't. Just because you don’t get the hype doesn’t mean her hundred million fans don’t, or that her lyricism isn't incredible. You don’t know what that music means to other people, and I NEVER see people drag down mainstream male artists just for being popular!
Which brings me to the biggest double standard of all: if she were a man, I can assure you everything she gets hate for would just be called “aura.” Look at LeBron James. He has a net worth of over a billion dollars. Where is his daily hate train? Why isn't everyone breathing down his neck? Mind you, he hasn’t spoken up about a lot of stuff at all either!?! Make it make sense.
At the end of the day, you don't have to stream her music, but the actual hate train is baseless. It’s a double standard, plain and simple
