with all the HS talk I was thinkin. would trickster mode spam be just like a regular dude. a normal guy

all his diseases cancel the trickster mode out and nothing changes. similar thing that happened to dirk, but you actually cant tell the trickster mode didnt affect him because he already acts like that.

I’m a little surprised no one pointed this out yet (at least in an ask maybe in a note somewhere) but what’s the ticking in the last page of part 1 👀👀👀 is that the chain heart(s)

Yes, it's the sound of it's machinery :) NEO can be silent but much of it's movement is accompanied by the sound of clockwork. I do like to think the heart (both a weapon and a power source in NEO's case) does make it's own distinct noise that can be heard when it's close.

neo using spam’s voice essentially as bait and a lure to tenna is such a cool idea (idk if that’s how you mean it to come off as but since neos isn’t really “sentient” I’m assuming it doesn’t really know what is being sad, just that it’s responding in a way that will affect tenna based on spams memories)

I could see a scenario where Tenna doesn't see the transformation take place and Neo kind of stalks him and uses Spamtons voice as a lure. It could even be capable of using Spamtons voice before puppetification when it (presumably) used to be clear of vocal ticks.

Neo's sentience is something I don't wanna define too hard since I will probably end up contradicting myself, but short and sweet of what I am seeing is that Neo is not a separate person from Spamton in a manner that split personality would be. It's a different form of Spamton that functions with different set of rules. Spamton who's been given the body of a destructive robot and also been drowned in heaps of it's faulty programming that's primed to bring out the angry and bitter part of him.

I've said at least twice that I imagine Neo has human level understanding and I think that could count as sentience, it's just not its own separate person that works like a person with a free will would. It's a thing that follows it's programming, but the programming was jumbled when the wires were severed so what you get from it is unpredictable at best. Even though Spamton got to keep Neo and no wires to boot, it still doesn't grant him full freedom because he does not get to control Neo directly without the wires. His persisting lack of freedom is reflected in this seemingly much more powerful form that should have given him the way out. Instead it just became another form of imprisonment.

Though, given how differently Neo acts compared to regular Spamton, I could see scenarios where it's addressed as a separate being, or Neo itself addresses Spamton in third person once it's little calmer. I just don't want to write it as a thing that acts like a third person in all of Spamton's relationships, just a thing about Spamton himself that complicates things.

so, if spamton does manage to regain control while transformed, will this cause him to immediately change back to normal, or will he be stuck as neo until it calms down

I think he would be stuck as NEO for the moment being, since his personality and his body are different strands of code and its easier for the personality code to surface than the composition of his original body to override NEO's (and i'm not pretending to know anything about computer programming here, we all know this is very noncanon story based on tropes about people who magically turn into monsters).

Ideal solve in this situation would be that he gets to keep NEO as a powered up form for himself while still maintaining his lucidity. The "maintaining lucidity" is just the difficult bit here because NEO's code is terribly messed up after its wires were severed. It's a killer robot with no instructions, but no permission to stand idle so all it can do is look for things to kill
