this is more towards another confession rather than idw!megatron fans but the problem with the megatron redemption arc isn't that megatron gets redeemed when in reality he actually doesn't, and that's fine, because what matters is he tries to do good despite all the suffering he caused after everything.

the problem is the execution. why is getaway treated as more irredeemable than a literal genocider? and why does jro frame bots who rightfully don't like megatron as illogical, villainous, or like they are way worse than literal space hitler? mtmte had decent execution for this since it focused more on the ensemble crew, but jro's preference with megatron's "oh woe is me" arc over other cast members' arcs is very evident in lost light and it affects other bots characterizations too to the point that it becomes ooc. i hate getaway for what he did to tailgate, but i could never hate his feelings towards megatron, and his punishment for mutiny caused by megatron's arrival in the lost light is overkill because a lot of the crew members also rightfully want megatron gone. i don't want to say the word "woobify", but that is exactly what happened in the lost light narrative concerning megatron. the mtemte narrative at least holds megatron accountable for his crimes and shows how he still struggles with control issues.

not to mention they also do this with post-lostlight shows that have a more "noble" or "redeemed" megatron, and their portrayals simply doesn't work as well as mtemte because it feels like the writers only took everything they liked about megatron (old man charisma) in both mtmte and ll and dumped it into their continuity's megatron while ignoring the other idw issues that also have phenomenal megatron characterization that build upon his charisma: all hail megatron. fans don't see this as a problem because they eat up the megop dynamics, even if megatron's reasons for allying against a greater evil with optimus are subpar (i love megop too, don't get me wrong).

anyways, since this ask is less of a confession and more of a rant, i will end this with an actual confession: i want to impregnate swindle who leaves me after he gives birth to our children because he refuses to pay for child support and i will support this decision while i tirelessly overwork myself for my three sparklings as a single parent #absentfatherswindlerights

When I was still on Deviantart, as a little baby artist, I remember someone playing with a 'meme' where they took two random TFA names to make a crackpair out of, and they got Wreck-Gar and Swindle. And for a while it actually became a thing in their circle. Wreck-Gar was always a favorite, so I really digged it, I loved this one-shot where Swindle is Wreck-Gar's music producer, and they traveled together in space, and there was a lot of nice art. I tried to give DA a try just before their AI debacle, and got sad everything around the ship was gone, because I still think about it time to time.

to add onto my appreciating Megaempress confession, I also agree with some points I’ve seen around the fandom that Trickdiamond is more like a female Swindle than her own character. I agree! They don’t do much to make her feel less like Swindle and more like her own character, outside of making her get bashful when in embarrassing situations. Which is why I propose this concept: Trickdiamond being the book smarts to Swindle’s street smarts. I got this idea from the the pilot for the Fairly Odd Parents where Cosmo and Wanda had this dynamic, and because Trickdiamond was drawn wearing a pair of some nerdy looking glasses, I thougujt this could help make her feel more interesting than just girl Swindle.

Being an ES Swindle x Bumblebee shipper is torture. There's only that one fic carrying the ship and I just wish it was more popular even though it makes sense it isn't.
