SwingReader is now Ubersense Golf

We are excited to announce that SwingReader is being re-named Ubersense Golf. Along with the name change, we will be releasing a major app update in the next week. What does this mean for you?

Lessons. Watch short, actionable lessons with tips on how to improve your swing from instructors and professional golfers. Every week will have new lessons and videos.

Drills. Create your own personalized training plan by adding drills from our lesson library.

Recording. We continue to make improvements to our recording and play-back functions; now you can tap to focus.

Community. Our goal is to help the community of golfers and instructors to connect with each other and get better at golf. Instructors can manage their list of clients and golfers can follow instructors to get notified about new lessons. You can also create a profile to help connect and engage with other community members.

This update is designed with you in mind after gathering your feedback. The changes won't be available for another week or so but we wanted to give you a heads up as we prepare to roll out this update. You can see a preview of the update below:

Migrating Existing Videos into New SwingReader App

You can easily send your old videos into the new SwingReader app in 3simple steps. When you see the 'Get New Version' pop-up notification press 'Ok, update.

You will then be prompted to download the new SwingReader app from the app store. Click this button to launch the app store and begin downloading.

After you download the app you can Migrate your videos by tapping the new SwingReader app icon, highlighted below.

This will automatically launch the new SwingReader app and your videos will appear after you complete the app tutorial.

If videos didn't transfer

Launch the old swingreader account and make sure you are logged into the same account as the Ubersense Golf app. Manually press the 'upload' button on the videos you wish to transfer to Ubersense Golf. (You can also press 'upload' and save them to the camera roll to import into Ubersense).

Migrating SwingReader videos to iOS6

To ensure you do not lose your SwingReader videos when upgrading to iOS6 you MUST do one of these 2 options: Option A) Recommended. 1) Wait for SwingReader's App update before upgrading to iOS6. We are in process of submitting an update to Apple and subject to their review the App update would be available within 1 week. 2) Once the update is released, download it from the App Store and open the app. Your videos will automatically transfer into the updated app. 3) Upgrade your phone to iOS6 Note: Make sure you follow Apple’s recommendations for complete phone backup prior to upgrade. Visit Apple's website for more information. 4) When iOS6 upgrade is complete and you have restored all your apps you can now continue to use SwingReader normally. Option B) 1) Manually upload all your swing videos your online account To do so, tap the upload button next to your videos in the App and create a free SwingReader account. Note: Your videos will still be kept private as long as you do not share them publicly. 2) You can access the videos you upload on swingreader.com and from any iPad/iPhone device when you log into your account. 3) Upgrade to iOS6 and open your SwingReader app. Log into your SwingReader account and your videos will automatically download into the app.

SwingReader Recording Interface: Introducing the Shadow Golfer

A few weeks ago SwingReader Golf unveiled a brand new recording interface to help users when recording their swing videos. We added an opaque golfer silhouette, a shadow golfer. With this new shadow golfer, SwingReader can help you capture the perfect swing video by properly aligning the golfer within the frame,  whether you are recording from straight behind the golfer (down-the-line) or from the side (front-on). And it works for both right-handed or left-handed golfers. Here is how you use it. Once you launch SwingReader, click the "Record From Camera" button to begin recording a new video.  From there you are prompted with this screen:

If you are a right-handed player and are recording from behind, simply align the golfer figure with your target and record. You can also switch to the side view to record and align the golfer. By pressing that button, you can switch to this view:

Left Handed Golfers

If you swing left handed you also have the option to reverse the golfer shadow to accomodate a left handed swing.

You can switch the left handed view to the side by pressing the golfer button (see image above.) Of course, if you do not wish to use the shadow to align your videos, you have the option to turn this feature off entirely and simple free record without any guidance.

The purpose of this feature is two-fold: One is to make it easier for SwingReader users to record quality videos of golf swings that are all aligned in the same (standard) way so that it is easier to compare swings. The second advantage is that it takes away guessing how far behind you need to stand or how high you need to place the camera to record a swing; just align and you're done.
