it had started just two weeks earlier, though it felt like much longer. she’d been filming a piece she’d been commissioned to do on campus when she’d seen him. she wasn’t sure what it was about him that had drawn her attention, maybe it had been his smile, but he had stood out from the crowd and she had been transfixed. once the job ended, she’d been finding reasons to hang near the campus, perfectly legitimate ones, she assured herself, and today, she was upping the ante.

she was sitting outside at a cafe that she knew he usually passed on his route back from class. now was her chance to garner his notice, maybe even speak to him. she’d like to at least learn his name.

maybe he’d feel the same connection she had.
