Though even Soulburner would admit, he’d be the first one there to scoop a rejected Alanna off the ground if her board decided to put up a fight. For all of here practice, she still had a long way to go sometimes before he’d be able to call her ‘comfortable’ on one of the online hovercrafts.

But besides Alanna’s ongoing feud with her D-Board-

“But you remember what we’re here to do, right? Playmaker and Blue Maiden want us to be their eyes and ears on this side of Link VRAINS and chase down any data storms that spin up while we’re online.”

Soulburner knew he could handle a data storm or two, but could Alanna?

“So, do you think you could make something like yakisoba, but out of udon instead for lunch?”

Mako was supposed to be good at cooking, right? And he’d heard from Hiko that yakisoba was supposed to be one of her favorite dishes to make, too. As long as he was staying here for the rest of the day, she wouldn’t mind if he’d already put in a request for lunch like this, did she? After all, yaki udon couldn’t be that much different to make than yakisoba.

Link Vrains had changed a lot. Earth wondered how much of this was due to the humans, or if the network had just grown on its own. But he supposed that would remain a mystery. It wasn’t exactly like he could ask anyone. As he observed the players clustered together off in the distance, he wondered if anyone he knew was among them. Not that it mattered, for safety reasons he couldn’t make contact anyways.

Speaking of, he could hear someone getting a little too close to his location. Earth ducked down under one of the outcroppings of the floating island he was currently occupying, counting on whoever it was to pass over him as usual. Aqua would certainly chew him out if he was seen.

“Hey, I don’t think I ever got the chance to say it before, but thanks for that duel earlier! For a second, I thought you and that deck of yours were actually gonna manage to send Odd-Eyes packing off stage for once.” 

She hadn’t, of course. Odd-Eyes had pulled one of a Pendulum monster’s best tricks and had come back for a encore performance, but she’d still put up a good fight regardless! Maybe instead of a ‘thank you’ though, he should’ve been apologizing for how quick his dragons had managed to snag their win.

@sworntolight​ Alice leaned on the counter, vaguely damp cloth in hand. It was quiet today. A little weird, but maybe there was something going on? It was a little like being in a bubble, this cafe. Not that she was complaining - it let her get away from things she’d rather not think about too much. 

She made to turn to the sink to rinse her cloth, but movement outside stopped her. 

Was that..?

He wasn’t really sure what had brought him back here yet again - perhaps it was just the overall cozy atmosphere or the rather pleasant hot chocolate that they served.  What also probably contributed to his decision was seeing Mako sitting down at a nearby table.  She would be pleasant enough company and fun to converse with, for a couple of hours.

“I suppose I do like the hot chocolate here,” He admitted, settling into the chair across from her, as he eyed the tablet in her hands with a curious look.  “It’s been getting rather chilly lately but I find myself fortunate that I work in an office,” He joked.  “I’m sure that it will only get colder from here, though.  I heard that we’re actually supposed to have a bit of snow, tonight.”

“Have you been keeping warm, yourself...?”
