Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime ~~ [Tonnie]

Christmas morning had been nice. Even though Tom had a crick in his neck from sleeping on the couch whilst Melody took his bed. Every time he went to pick up Levi, he winced. But, it was worth it so that Mellie could wake up on Christmas with the rest of her family (well, some of them), instead of alone in the shitty little apartment that she had. 

It had been mostly quiet. Each of the adults had only gotten each other one present, but had had fun opening all of Levi’s for him. The baby had passed out around the time Melody and John hit the kitchen to make breakfast. Phil and Tom cleaned the living room whilst the bacon sizzled.

They’d eaten a big breakfast, Levi had woken up. They’d fed him and then, Tom had sighed, checking his watch. It was about an hour before they had to head over to Annie’s.

He didn’t want to go, but despite what Annie thought of him, he was interested in keeping the peace and wanted to have a good Christmas. So, he packed up his present for Annie and presents for Harlyanne and Jaxson, as well as Zella and Mrs. Tremaine, and packed things into the car.

It was a short trip over the Annie’s and Tom reached up to ring the doorbell. Melody was grinning at his side, because she hadn’t really met Annie yet. Only heard stories and seen her briefly in passing. And, despite how much she hated her for what she did to her brother, Tom knew that she was also a bit of a gossip and couldn’t wait to see this go down.

“Play nice,” Tom told Melody.

She turned and smiled at him, Levi on her hip. “What? I’ll be on my best behavior. Promise.”

Can You Be-leaf It? # [Tannie]

JT was wandering about, having lost the people he’d come with. Bit ironic. Considering who he was as a person. (6′7″.) But he was alright being on his own. He checked out a few games, won himself a little stuffed flower with a wire in the stem that he’d wrapped around his arm. Honestly, it was a little garish with a kind of creepy face but--ah, maybe his mum would like it.

He was just moving towards the Merry Go Round (wasn’t gonna go on it, because that would be kind of weird), but was skirting by it, when he recognized Annie standing in the line. He approached the little barrier.

“Hey,” he said, happy to see a familiar face...even if she hadn’t texted him like she said she was. That was fine. She was busy. Or she wasn’t interested...but that didn’t mean they couldn’t be friends, right?

“Nice to see you again. Are you, uh, enjoying yourselves?” He smiled at her, then at the kids. There were two of them now. A boy and a girl. He tried to remember the girl’s name but...couldn’t.

The Judgement of Solomon ~~ [Tonnie]

Tom was exhausted. Not just from the baby. Not just from work. But because last night he could not fall asleep. He tossed and turned, thinking about the meeting with Annie that he had this morning. It wasn’t going to go well. He had already resigned himself to that fact. What was difficult was resigning himself to the next eighteen years of conversations that would not go well. He tried not to dwell on that future, but it was difficult for him, as someone who often dwelt on melancholy.

When the knock sounded at the door, Tom was just finishing pouring himself a cup of coffee. He took a sip and looked at Levi, who was sitting, wide awake, in his high chair at the table.

“You ready, mate?”

Levi cooed and smiled at him, squishing a piece of cut up banana between his fingers. Tom rubbed a hand over the baby’s head before making his way to the front door, pushing the dogs away with his leg as he opened it.

“Hullo,” he greeted Annie, letting her in. “You want coffee?” He moved back towards Levi, using the baby’s bib to clean his face automatically.

Inhale Peace. Exhale Worry. ~~ [Tonnie] [Phone Call]

Tom: It was probably ill-advised that Tom was still following Annie on Instagram. He should have just blocked her. But, then again, if he had done that, he would not have seen the absolute fuckery on her Instagram this afternoon. Tom had been at the station, still getting used to being away from Levi, who was being watched by Phil. Or so he had thought. Until he saw that Instagram.

Tom: had called Phil immediately, choking on his own breath, his chest tight. But Phil had been confused, Levi had not left the house. Phil was playing a "rousing game of paddy cake" with him, until Dad had interrupted.

Tom: Immediately, Tom had dialed Annie. "Anastasia, what in the bloody hell possessed you to post that Instagram?" he launched right into it without preamble.
