Boy, 15, one of two arrested in Sydney over terror plot on government buildings
A 15-year-old boy was one of two people arrested over a terror plot during dawn raids in Sydney. The teenager and a 20-year-old man are believed to have been planning attacks on government buildings, including Australian Federal Police. Investigators say they were also targeting random civilians. The pair, who were arrested at their homes, have been charged with conspiracy to conduct an act of terrorism. Three others currently in jail are expected to be charged with the same offence. The arrests were connected to raids late last year in which 15 people were detained. Those raids shed light on plans to hit a government building and behead a member of the public.
Last December, there were a number of documents seized ... and those documents clearly talked about a plan and there were government buildings named in those plans.
National Security chief Michael Phelan
The arrest of a teenager comes after a radicalised 15-year-old named Farhad Jabar was blamed for the killing of police employee Curtis Cheng. Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said: "It's disturbing that we're continuing to see teenage children in this environment. There's absolutely no doubt that the fact we're charging a 15-year-old with a very, very serious offence, one that has a maximum of life imprisonment, this is concerning not only to us in law enforcement but should be concerning to everybody. How they've become radicalised we don't actually know. We don't know how the 15-year-old has got to the point where we will allege he got." Police said the latest suspects arrested are "associates" of those accused of being behind Mr Cheng's murder.
As a result of putting all of that information together, working through those documents, putting physical and electronic surveillance together, we were able to build a case of conspiracy for five people involved in the preparation of these documents.

Sydney police station and shopping centre targeted by terror threats
Two terror threats have been made in Sydney, Australia with both a police station and a popular shopping centre targeted only a day after a school was placed on high alert. NSW Police have confirmed they are investigating a threatening letter which was received at Merrylands Police Station on Tuesday, with a separate threat to Penrith Plaza being posted on online site 4Chan. The letter sent to Merrylands Police Station contains threats of violence against non-Muslims.
My Australian friends and family, I have decided I will go out with a bang (quite literally).
A threat on online forum 4Chan read on Tuesday.
A "warning to my people in Sydney" was posted to 4Chan along with an image of Penrith Plaza claiming there would be an attack at 10am on Tuesday. "My Australian friends and family, I have decided I will go out with a bang (quite literally)," the post read. Police confirmed they were aware of the threat to Yahoo7 News that a threat was made to the social media website and said there would be an increased police presence. The post, which mimics the style and content of a similar message posted before a recent mass shooting in Oregon, is the second of its type in as many days.

After 16 horrific hours, the hostage situation finally came to an end at 2:15am this morning. Two beautiful souls were killed out of the 17, I ask everyone keep these people in your thoughts and prayers and send all your positive energy to everyone. Our country has been shocked but we will never fall to these horrible people, the society in Australia is far too strong.
Again, I ask you to please keep these people in mind, they need all the strength they can get right now.
Heart goes out to australia and even though the US media/tumblr may not be giving your situation the attention it deserves know that New Zealand media has been following the siege practically minute by minute and only really discussing the siege since it happened.
5 have escaped. Keep thinking positive. Thoughts and prayers are with all these hostages.
