R E A D muscle Hurrikane🤣💪🏿ok last throwback about the “Lock” after I spend a whole 2 weeks with Don @campbellock51 i started to understand the lock more and more understanding his dance, he also told me about the stop which is also what lock means is to stop spontaneously so this time i would play with this a lot plenty of a lot, and i still do till this day. . . . . ... I was lucky enough to spend time with the creator himself for a while two weeks in New York City literally everyday. Got to learn history his dance from him so my knowledge of this dance was at its purest, still is. than it push me to have a great goals which was for my skills to match my knowledge. . . . . ... many has skills but not so much knowledge, and many had knowledge but not so much skills. my first year of locking I got to meet Don Campbellock Campbell got to have direct teaching from the creator of the dance himself, I was beyond lucky. . . . . ... and this is a year later after meeting Don Campbellock in 2k09 this clip is 2k10 that’s when this amazing dancer name @omar.firelock ask for me to be his partner, of course i did not want too because this man was just beyond amazing and i was just a beginner but he said “a partner ship was not about two great dancers it’s about the vibes that the partners have together that makes them great together” . . . . ... that stuck with me till this day, so after he ask i just went to training as hard and as smart as possible. if I did not want him to do all the work i had to help as well, ans i did not want to be carried😅 one thing about me i always know where i am as an artist and never ashamed. what keeps me going is that i know where I want to be and i will for sure work for it. thank you to Don Campbell for your dance and Thank you Omar for always pushing me to those extra miles. . . . . ... #Campbellock #firelock #hurrikanethedancer #sygu #stepyagameup (at New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B6n_7J2jCC_/?igshid=2aimv7yv11g1

in the honor of my 10 year anniversary of dancing that was the first time I've ever been to any dance event, let alone dance contest/battle and look at where I end up at "step ya game up" I had just started to know about Locking I saw some of the crews doing it on ABDC, and they said it was a style call Locking and I thought it was a more simple style of choreography because really I wanted to dance with artist and do dance films so I wanted to be a choreo dancers so that's is the pure reason I learn Locking, plus I saw a performance where Usher did a whole set, I wanted to dance with usher so I learn Locking. : : and look at this preselection line I'll Cozby FireLock Theresa and more, I did not know anyone than or any of the styles at all. We regular folks just think everything is breakdance everything is hiphop, but I was lucky to have been introduce to this place by @tr3sa I met her a couple weeks before that at a club in NY that I was not even gonna go to, but my brother got me to go and this is just how life works ain't it. July 21 - 22 is STEP YA GAME UP 10 years ago that was the first event I ever saw live in front of me, it was introduce to it by a now great friend of mine that I've have ment some weeks before the event. I was not truly a dancer I was just a person that enjoys music and movements. When I arrive their it blew my mind and since than I decided that I was a dancer . . My friend had ask me if i wanted to join and sign me up for every single category that day, and the style I knew was none I just knew dance and I had just was starting to get educated on Locking And the difference between popping and locking, I knew a bit of bboying thats it, definitely had no idea about house or what was actually popping, but at the preselection I just saw what everyone was doing and I just did that. Like in house my mind is oh they are just moving their feet ok, in Popping oh they just flexing their muscles and stoping ok I had a bit of Locking knowledge and Bboyign and HipHop is culture so that was ok(not at all). . . Long story short I completely embarrass myself that day, and I just promise my self it would never happen again, haha but it did happen in other events, when you think you got it but you don't lol since than I've learn so much and continuing to learn, since than I've even won almost every category at SYGU now "Waacking" I'm coming for that title lol . . Now I am the locking judge for this year edition and I am grateful, thank you @buddhastretch for the invitation and SYGU staff, it's an honor and thank your for keeping this event going for us in NY much love and respect. Part of my awesome first week back in the big apple had the pleasure to just dance it all out, at one of the best #stepyagameup yet thank you so much to the big bro @buddhastretch for this awesome jam... Since I'm back just wanted to share with my NY family so I just join everything I just wanted to dance mannnn being out for so long... It was awesome to see everyone's growths and rocking the dance floor with enjoyment and positivity, this is the NY dance I know. Everyone got me mad hype to hype man but I had to stay calm and practice self control still not yet 100% from the knee... I had to dance the whole event with no shoes, this stage floor is definitely not made for dancing even with just my socks on I was still struggling so had to modify everything, sorry I couldn't share 100% Hurrikane with y'all but next time for sure my health and body first... The first-time My first time ever entering a battle "Step Ya Game Up 2008" I remember entering every category and not making pass any pre-selection, basically embarrassed my self I didn't even know what half of those styles were but I just wanted to dance I was so fascinated but everything that was going on around me. Thank you mademoiselle @tr3sa for telling me about this event and freaking signing my name for every style 😅 that day I was shattered due to being so embarrassed and making a fool of my self. But hey that day for ever change my life and gave me a new drive and I found my love for the art of dance.
