Sylladex?... kind of?

Okay, so you don't have a REAL sylladex... maybe you can just say you have one and make up the specifics on the fly? Though, it has to make sense for you... dang, no reusing your fantroll's then...

You use the PAPERCUT MODUS. Contrary to the name It does NOT involve afflicting yourself with paper related injuries, and instead involves cutting out the shape of an object in paper. It made sense at the time, what with your strife specibus being scissorkind...unfortunately, the drawbacks are huge.

-Most obviously, shapes are ambiguous. To uncaptchalogue your laptop, you cut out a rectangle. The problem with this is that a rectangular piece of paper does not automatically = laptop. So your sylladex will often just chuck everything even vaguely rectangular at you when you do this.

-If an object is really complex, it takes forever to cut out even its general shape. Not to mention if you try to cut out its shape in any position besides how it's positioned on the card, you get either an error or random junk thrown at you.

-If you are ever without scissors (or some sort of cutting tool), you can't use this. Thankfully, you kept your small scissors in your strife specibus card, so this isn't an issue... for you, at least.

So yeah, lots of issues with this modus. But it's what you use. Take it or leave it.

Sylladex Mode

Me, as a Thief of Mind, I use the Subconscious Mode. The items are being actually stored in my own subconscious, and must be subsequently stolen back to retrieve them. This makes it quite safe (since only Thieves of Minds could even pull this off, I think), but quite a hassle in battle situations - sitting down and getting in touch with your own subconscious tends to be hard when fireballs are flying around your head.

Size: 2 (don't want to clot up my subconscious too much with random shit... It could possibly be upgraded with my External Skill Drive, have to get around to check that out...)

The sylladex you are currently using was given to you by your friend, timeTravlur. It is the SPELLCAST MODUS! It contains 7 cards. Each one can carry an object of ANY SIZE, but to retrieve the object, you have to DRAW AN ASSOCIATED RUNE. The more "important" the item, the harder the symbol is to trace. The runes can't be drawn or stolen by anyone, so you'd say this is a pretty secure modus. The rune tends to make for an efficient flashlight, as well.

You are rubbish at using this thing.

You use the GUITARHERO Fetch Modus 

The way it works is rather simple. Once you insert an item it is tagged with a series of notes.  When you want to retrieve the item from the sylladex you must play the notes on your guitar exactly as written.  The bigger or more complex the item the more complicated the melody you must play. Playing the melody incorrectly causes the melody to get harder. 

Size: The amount of items that you can store is rather large practically limitless.

Ease of Use: Varies on the size and complexity of the items stored.  A larger item means a more complicated melody to play which may be tricky if you find yourself stuck on one part of a riff.

Security: For smaller items it might be possible to another with a guitar to play the riff needed to expel an item from your modus but for the larger items it will be harder.

To retrieve an item, you must pick one out of three potentially fitting instrumental theme tunes to accurately represent the object and how you plan to use it. If you don’t pick the tune considered most appropriate, the object will be forcibly ejected from its card. If an object is retrieved, the chosen theme will always be just long enough to encapsulate the usage of the item. 

The most difficult items to retrieve tend to be those that may very well be the difference between life or death. The short piece that would accompany, say, taking a bite out of an apple while hungry would be fairly easy to decide upon. Conversely, if you were attempting to retrieve a legendary item of some sort, the tune would likely be much longer (so as to account for the badass things you’d be doing with it) and thus, it would be unlikely that you’d get a good taste of all three options before having to pick. 

There is always picking the wrong theme on purpose so as to use it as a weapon, though. In fact, maybe when the instrumental piece is finished, you’ll realize it was quite apt after all.

Unfortunately, the themes when first played tend to be surprisingly loud, though not usually as loud as they are after being chosen. This allows others to pick one of the three themes and in turn, either retrieve an item you had meant to forcibly expel, or the other way around. Thankfully, only the owner of the modus can pick the item. This can be averted by using some sort of headphone or other listening device, though you do not need to have them plugged into anything. As one would expect, this can make it rather difficult to hear those around you, but at least it stops them from choosing how to use the object for you.

Size: There is a set limit on how many items can be stored at one time, measured by the length of their ideal theme tune. Basically, you are capable of storing loads of junk in the sylladex, but only a few extremely important items at any one time. Like any sylladex, it can be expanded, with each card representing an "average-length" tune (roughly 3-5 minutes long). Cards will be combined and separated as needed. (3)

Ease: The accessibility of various items varies quite a bit. In addition, two identical items that are intended for different uses can also vary greatly in not only length, but song structure. Usually, the simpler the item and its intended use, the easier it is to retrieve. Of course, there are exceptions, but that's to be expected. Eating something while peckish is very different than eating something while starving, after all. (2)

Security: As those who do not currently "own" or are otherwise using the modus can't pick what item to put in or retrieve, this alone makes it rather secure. Of course, bystanders can decide on the theme if they are capable of hearing it, though that can be avoided by bringing all an appropriate listening device. (3)

「My sylladex is the Lazy Eval Array Modus. This is a combined modus that was merged with the modus control deck. It is combined from the lazy evaluation modus and the array modus. The Array modus is the base functionality and it is enhanced by what is essentially called 'lazy evaluation' where the evaluation of the items stored in the sylladex is delayed until the item is needed. Thus, one does not need to worry about the size of the sylladex because the size of the object is not even evaluated until it is needed. Thus you can have potentially infinite storage capacity. Of course it can be a bit hard to use since it has to search through the array and evaluate only what you need and security isn't perfect but what do you care? This baby can store whatever you want and in whatever quantity you want!

Plus, you're the Lord of Hope, who can beat you?...Well besides whatever it was that caused you to send a message to Doc Frost in the first place. You still haven't recovered all you memories so you're not sure why you tried to warn him about the situation you were all in. You're pretty sure now that you would have all been better off if you had never played this game.」

Size:       5 Ease:      2 Security: 1 The sylladex in question operates using an ORAL STORYTELLING modus. Following this tradition, items, once captchalogued, are recognized by audio files, rather than in any traditional documentation (ie, cards). The upside to this is obvious to see - the modus allows for almost literally any number of items to be captchalogued and stored. The downsides, however, follow quite plainly. Lacking any formal representation or documentation of captchalogued items requires a stout memory and sufficient mnemonic devices to recall what items have been logged and by what name they are called. Poetry, rhymes, and other simple schemes can come in handy here. Security is likewise an issue, as the tradition of oral storytelling always expects an audience. While you may be able to summon any item you have previously captchalogued by reciting its name; anyone who has been present enough to understand your inventory may call forth your items with a similar utterance, depriving you of your hard-won accoutrements or just inconveniencing you by forcing you to re-capture a host of possessions.
