If you did not see the “chili sauce” on the bottle of this sauce you will still know that this is the hot sauce because there are lots of hot peppers on the package. Symbolic function means how the symbol means when they showed off. For example, those red peppers showed me how spicy the sauce is, without telling me this is hot sauce.
Symbolic function: There are so many symbol in our daily life, and each of them will have different meanings in different criteria. For example, the umbrella symbol on my phone means it will rain today, and the blue and white will means sky or water. For this picture, there are two bears at the corner, and bear will infer the consumer about natural wild honey, which the designer want the consumer to feel the honey flavor and combine the ideas together.
