One day I’ll sit down and give an extensive talk on my experience with synesthesia, but for now I’ll just say that for me, music has always been tied to my art. Inextricably. When I put on music as I paint it’s not just background noise, it’s actively informing the piece. This is an example of me taking that to the logical extreme, this entire piece was made and crafted by the music I heard as I painted it. Using Beatles (and solo career) songs from across their lifespan, the finished piece becomes a visual symphony of shared history between Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Everything shared, and everything left unsaid.

Manon ⇓

Artists commentary: In Manons voice everything moves so smoothly. It's magical and hypnotizing. Nothing in her voice is standing still but there's no chaos. Truly beautiful. Manon has high control over vibrations in the singing, that's why the bubbles don't pop.

Lara ⇓

Artists commentary: Lara has a green voice. In my brain green voices are rare. Her voice is deep but feels comforting and light. Small stars and sparkles pop up and disappear with the rhythm of her speech or singing. She's an amazing singer.

Artists commentary: Her voice is dreamy. It feels like water. Flowy, from strong waves to calm movement. When she sings, her voice blends dark and light colors and reflections.

Sophia ⇓

Artists commentary: Sophias voice is confident, it's strong and stays pretty static. That's also rare. The bubbles and rainbow reflections do move, but lines stay static. That usually means the voice is powerful. And hers definitely is.

Yoonchae ⇓

Artists commentary: Her voice is spining, like a soft and calm tornado. It's feels light and warm. It's full of color variations, especially when she's singing. On the lower notes the saturation is much higher than in the higher ones.

Megan ⇓

Artists commentary: Megan's voice is so beautifully deep. It's chaotic in the best way. From white delicate singing voice to dark purple and raspy speaking one. I love how diverse her voice is. It's strong yet delicate, just like her.

Disclaimer: every person with synesthesia sees voices and sound differently. The colors and patterns they see are unique to them. So if you have synesthesia and see Katseyes voices differently that's completely normal!

Teenagers by My Chemical Romance

I have synesthesia, and I drew Teenagers by my chemical romance.

All the orange is Gerard Way's voice. The red, yellow, and pink lines with glow on the sides are the guitars. The red in the bottom middle, is the drums. No idea what the blue is or why it's there, but it's definitely important. And the two green circles are for Frank Iero don't also me why I don't know, he just gets green circles for some reason. And the yellow circles with lines at the top, is the part that sounds like those noise makers you'd find at party city or wherever.

Teenagers was the first MCR song I ever listened to, and it was also (and still is) the most intense synesthesia experience I've ever had, like could not think over top of the way the song looked, at the time I also noticed the orange and blue, which is kinda normal, a lot of time I don't see specific parts of the song unless I'm actively paying attention to the way the song looks.

I also can't believe it took me this long to draw it, like I mentioned my first time listening to it was the most intense and colourful experience I'd ever had, and yet it took me over a year to finally draw it.

The melody is very overwhelmingly one of those sunsets with lots of pinks and purples so I painted it, decided to throw in Link and Zelda as well lol
