It's funny how Daenerys name backwards is Syrenead because she mentioned to Ser Barriston in season 5 to SING A SONG FOR HER. In her last chapter in AGOT Martin ends it with saying: and for the first time in hundreds of years the night came alive with the MUSIC of dragons. Am I going to deep here? Is Dany the Song of the series?
Hi anon!
When I realized this a month or so ago (http://oadara.tumblr.com/post/163654120286/mind-blown) my mind was blown. How did I not notice this before?
For those of you who might not know, Syrenead sounds phonetically like Serenade which is a song you perform is someone’s honor. So the theme of music/ song could be associated with Dany.
I can’t find it now, but I’m sure I read somewhere that GRRM mentioned there is a significance to Dany being given the name Daenerys. At the time I tried finding an association with the first Daenerys and there are some. But now I wonder if there is more to her name than meets the eye given the association with serenade. The Rhoynar (who became Dany’s ancestors when her great-great grandfather married Mirah Martel at the same time that the first Daenerys joined the Martell family) had Singers and some of these came with Queen Nymeria’s to Dorne. These Singers were actually wizards who wielded water magic to fight the Valyrians (of all people). They were also believed to create dreams where there were none in drier environment of Dorne. Anyhow, there is a further association in that the Water Gardens of Dorne were created in honor of the first Daenerys.
What does this all mean? I have no clue but there are some very interesting layers to all this.
Daenerys is certainly related to the Song of Ice and Fire. GRRM has mentioned that her and her dragons represent the Fire but there might be more there given that there are various meanings to ASOIAF.
ETA: I forgot to mention the best part. If you put Fire and Ice together you get WATER!!!

@ethereal--luna and I made some bunny girls, and they instantly became girlfriends.
Hatia (left) is mine, and Syrenead (right) is hers.
Syrenead Viras is my most recent ffxiv oc & dynamis character! here's some facts about her:
She's a mom, she has a baby girl who is about 6 years old.
She's a skilled Samurai & well-traveled, she can hold her own and takes interest in learning new cultures and helping the poor.
She helps the Scions and WoL & strikes a relationship with Thancred.
She's dead, she dies during Endwalker & is cursed to wander as a ghost unknowing if her child is alive. She goes through trials as a ghost believing she will find her answer.
Also Thancred is collecting more trauma & he is desperately trying to find his wandering ghost gf.
You have such a beautiful blog! And what a lovely playlist! <3
Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoy it! x
