Ugh I love Noct so much! He's so pretty ( i particularly love that act 1 look, so distinguished! ) I would love to learn more about him, like where is he from? what is the family situation? Ambitions and life goals from before the tadpole and after? Tell me everything please.
I'm currently unfortunately kind of becoming obsessed with the tiefling bard i started the other day after getting stuck on act 3 again with Morduath (the drow sorcerer ive been posting about) so for now I'm fleshing out the tief, his name is Zevash, Zev to his friends. I have this imagine of my head where he's singing to Gale and Gale is just slowly falling asleep with his head on his lap after a hard day of adventuring and it's keeping me going. Zev is college of Lore so I feel like they actually would have a lot in common!

First of all, thank you! 🥺💞he's my baby boy, I've made him in a bunch of different rpgs. Second, my knowledge of dnd/faerun lore is a uhhh loosey-goosey to say the least. So a lot of his backstory is most likely not 'cannon compliant'. Also this might be a lil long 🙏 apologies, I realised part way through that I haven't written any of this down, it's all been solely in my head whoops.

His parents are "normal", they lived in a sea-side village (he's also full elf, I just really like that half-elf head lol). His wizard (? tbd) grandfather, however, runs a guild of assassins, and is obsessed with shadow magic/the raven queen. Yet, no matter what he does he can't seem to gain her attention or favour (lol, loser). So, when Noctil was a child (about 8 or 9) his grandpa kidnapped him, killed him, and then resurrected him via a specific ritual with the explicit purpose of dragging his soul through the Shadowfell and making him a shadow sorcerer (hence Noc's black sclera in both eyes.) (this ritual/resurrection plot is also where idk if that's even possible in the lore, but idgaf. Every companion is a mary sue (affectionate) so damnit Noc will be too).
Ever since the ritual Noctil has always been missing a part of himself; he's not consciously aware of it though, and he doesn't know this but part of his soul was separated from him during the resurrection that his grandpa has used as a magical tether to control him (to a certain extent, it moreso kept him close than controlling his actions per se). I think part of his 'personal quest' (the one he'd have if he was an origin PC) would be discovering this part of his missing soul and confronting his grandfather. (there's some more details to this backstory but I'm still fleshing it out. Still not sure just how aware Noctil is of the whole ritual. I was thinking it's possible he is aware it happened, but due to his soul being messed up he doesn't care/doesn't think about it too much 🤔).
So, as far as goals? He's kind of floated through life not really knowing who or what he is, or what he wants to be. He spends a lot of his free time whoring around, and while he does enjoy sex with no attachments, he's also lowkey hoping to fall in love - but he doesn't know how or why it's so difficult for him. This makes it very scary for him when he realises he loves Gale. What does it mean! What does he do! 😱 but he plays it cool to begin with because he doesn't want to scare Gale away (not knowing that it would take A LOT to scare Gale off once he's fallen)
It's funny that you mention Zev singing to Gale, as I have also imagined Noc being a bit of a singer ♥ great minds think alike as they say. The scene you describe with Zevash and Gale is so sweet 🥺
Noc would really get into his various disguises when following an assassination target, and would usually find work as a singer for shady taverns or inns (think less "bard" and more "crooner who sings pretty stuff in the background while criminal dealings happen over dinner"). also this is probs a bit cringy, but I imagine him sounding like jazz singer Harry Connick Jr, specifically from his 1990 song "Forever, For Now" 🙈 I also associate that song specifically with him and Gale.

yep and gathering chests droprate feckin sucks as well so good luck getting anything, plus when you do get a chest, the droprate for something old is about 99% instead of the new stuff they released for this year…im salty

FRs asinine coli system and low drop rate in a limited time (same for like...wc scrolls) makes me think of a goddamn mobile game
Gale is just A+, I started out BG3 as an Astarion romancer but I've slowly become more of an Astarion friendship truther. This run too I first slept with him in act 1 as part of his plan, then offer friendship to him in act 2 before going on the romance Gale.
Also being a sorcerer romancing Gale? I adore the dynamic so much.

I feel you on this so hard. I have two playthroughs going concurrently atm, one for Astarion and one for Gale, they're both in act 3 rn. While I have loved Astarion's romance (esp given the extra dialogue he has for Durge), I've felt way more drawn to Gale.
My galemancer tav (Noctil) is also a sorcerer! I didn't wanna miss out on that sweet, low stakes wizard vs sorcerer rivalry dialogue. It's so fun. I didn't exactly know who I was gonna romance with Noc, cause he's my OC that loves to sleep around. So he flirted with/slept with multiple companions in Act 1, then by the time act 2 came around i realised he had (and i had lol) completely fallen for Gale. And getting to the "sounds like you need a friend" dialogue with Astarion felt very natural and appropriate, so I'm with you on that point too. (He also wouldn't have worked out with astarion because astarion reminds him too much of himself!)

He's vain, and regularly uses magic to change his hair/tattoos, so he has a different look for every act 💅 thank you for giving me a reason to gush about him !

its so bad bc, ok im gonna infodump here
the character i like the most in paladins is named Pip and hes a furry scientist fox whos kind of a jack of all trades, but not in a bad way. like he can heal you but also does surprisingly good damage with splash damage AND has a splash damage attack that slows enemies. in paladins you have a set of cards for each character (all free) that you can use to build yourself a “deck” per playstyle. so if you want to be more healing oriented you can use cards that increase your healing or slowdown etc etc. it makes for super fun varied play and you’ll never really know what to expect
but pip is listed as a support char. which means nobody likes him. and by GOD, ive played a couple online matches now (which become available after level 5) and my first match LEGIT had a guy named Croation420 yelling at literally every player saying he reported the whole team while the dumbass played a support character in a dps way? and the entire team kept fucking running everywhere and i get the advantage of positioning but please just stay in goddamn sight.
in paladins, until level 5, you play with other real players against a team of bots to get the hang of the game. ive legit had teams so bad where we just got stomped by bots. it sucks too bc every time i play Pip i end up on the scoreboards of that game as best supporter AND SOMETIMES EVEN BIGGEST KILLSTREAK LIKE HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE SO BAD
