A little birthday present for @ask-sibverse the love of our lives and more. Since they only wrote a td1reader birthday with Star Sanses. I decided to write the Bad Gang version. Enjoy!
You look over at the picture on the table beside your bed. It was last year with your first proper birthday with the Star Sanses. But this year, you were spending it with the Nightmare Gang since it was their "custody time" as Killer put it. It was kinda surreal how much changed in a year.
The two groups were kinda getting along despite still fighting with one another. They only seem to agree that you should be protected no matter which side you are fighting on. And both sides will stop a fight if your blood sugar drops too much mid battle as well.
You shake your head to focus on the now. It was your birthday and who even knows if the Bad Gang even celebrates it. They never do theirs, so why do yours? You get a shower and get dress to come down for breakfast. The first thing you see is Horror making your favorite breakfast. You sat down and Killed appears behind you. It was easy to sense him since he was humming something.
Suddenly you felt a pressure on your head. You reach up to touch it and paper? You tried to take it off but Killer grabbed your hands. "No you don't. Birthday people need their crowns," he singsonged. You blushed.
The rest of the gang came in, and everyone said happy birthday except Nightmare. Tho he did look at you when he sat down. "My brother gets you tomorrow for your birthday before you come back here to resume your week," he said. You nod. He was always so factual towards you. You think he just let you stay and share custody for his mens' sake.
"But today we get you!" Killer said with glee. "I have a whole day planned!"
"Do not worry, I approved it before I let him take you out all willy nilly," Nightmare huffed from reading his newspaper and sipping tea.
After breakfast, you were dragged out of the chair and the gang took you to an amusement park au for the day. Killer acting like a child and letting you pick the rides out. Horror and Cross kept checking to make sure your sugars were doing ok.
You didn't see Nightmare, but the gang reassured you he was planning his own thing for you. You did get a bit sick on the chili cheese dogs and a roller coaster you tried to go on right after, at Killer's insisting, so they decided to call it a day and take you back to the castle. The rest of the time till true nightfall was spent watching your favorite anime.
Once dinner came around Nightmare appeared to grab you and the boys and took the group to Outertale. He had set up a birthday picnic that Horror prepared for yesterday and you enjoyed talking with them as you ate your favorite foods. Then Horror revealed the cake and they all sang happy birthday to you, tho Nightmare just hummed it politely. They called you birthday princess the whole day instead of your name and it felt nice.
"The Star Sanses are gonna be hard put to outdo us!" Killer said. The rest of the gang agreed with laughter. Dust pulled put his phone and got a selfie with everyone in it. He promised to print it out for you when he got a chance.
Once the day was said and done. Everyone headed home once the shooting stars were done and they went their separate ways. You gotten a few presents from them. A knife from Killer. A scrapbook of pictures Dust took of the last year of everyone. Cross gave you a fighting outfit that had protection magic imbued in it. And Horror a cookbook that was written from one of your favorite animes. Tho Nightmare didn't give anything.
You headed towards your room when the boss suddenly melted out of the shadows and got close to you. You froze, not expecting him to be there, and his hands wrapped around your neck. "Happy birthday, birthday princess," he softly said before he walked off. You felt a weight around your neck and looked down. He slipped a crescent moon necklace on you with a pretty purple stone on it. You blushed but he was already gone.
Guess the Star Sanses really did have to outdo this birthday tomorrow. You smiled as you head to bed.
A/N: hi guys! this is my fic for the DisabledSOS Project, which is a project created by @skinnylukes to bring awareness to the disabled 5sos fans. this is to bring awareness to the lack of disabled-inclusive writing in the fandom and hopefully put more out there for everyone to enjoy! Luke Hemmings x T1D!Reader
Summary: The daily struggles of a T1D ft. supportive boyfriend!Luke (mentions of needles)
You stared at the numbers flashing on your test kit. It was the middle of the night, but you had gotten up to use the bathroom every twenty minutes, and after your fourth trip you finally decided you needed to check your blood sugar. Sure enough, you were high.
A frustrated groan leaves your mouth as you throw your kit onto your side table and get out from under the blankets once again.
"Hmm, baby," Luke lets out a soft moan as he rolls over. He cracks an eye open to look at your figure standing up. "What's wrong? Are you low?"
You shake your head. "I'm fine. Just a little high. Don't worry." You throw on your slippers to combat the cold floors under your feet.
"How high?" He sits up in bed, a little yawn leaving his mouth.
You chew your lip for a second. "350..."
Luke stretches and climbs out of bed. "Alright, lets go get you some insulin." He places a hand on your lower back as the two of you make your way to the kitchen.
The cool air from the fridge bites at your skin when you retrieve your bottle of insulin. Luke already has a syringe out for you and he carefully places the bag back into the cabinet. While you pull your insulin, Luke grabs a cold bottle of water and some alcohol swabs. He watches as you inject yourself, a small wince leaving his mouth. He trades you the syringe for the water and throws it into the red sharps bucket on the counter.
"Water is so good," You lean against the counter as you chug the rest of the bottle.
Luke chuckles as he watches you. "Let's go back to bed," He puts his hand out for you. "Check again in an hour?"
-
When your blood sugar drops in front of him for the first time, Luke has no idea what to do. You decided to join the boys for a movie night on the tour bus, but halfway through, you burst into a cold sweat. You excuse yourself for a few moments, your vision going slightly black when you stand, and go to find your blood sugar kit. Sure enough, its low.
"Shit," Calum quickly turns the lights back on while Ashton pauses the movie. "Low? How?"
Luke forces you to sit down on the couch while you stare off into space. "What do we need to do?" He looks into your eyes.
"Uhm.." You can't seem to think about what to do. "Sugar. Soda, candy, doesn't matter."
Luke nods and the rest of the boys make quick work of finding something for you to snack on. Michael returns with a coke not even thirty seconds later.
"Okay, here we go." Luke opens up the can and holds it out for you. "Drink it," He watches with nervous eyes as you take some sips of the cola.
"Found some of these," Calum and Ashton walk back into the room with some small bags of random candy. "They had them in the dressing rooms earlier, I'm glad we took some now." He throws the bags down next to you.
Every five minutes, Luke pricks your finger again and checks your blood sugar. Once you hit 70, you start to get annoyed. "Luke, I'm okay now, I promise." You sigh.
"Okay, okay," He zips up your meter pouch and sits back onto the couch.
"You really scared us there, Y/N." Michael pipes up from the opposite side.
"I'm sorry," You apologize. "This doesn't happen too often."
"Hey, its fine. It's just a learning experience." Calum flicks the lights back off. "Can we get back to the movie now? It was just getting to the good part."
-
The knock on the door brings butterflies to your stomach. Luke jumps a little too, a bright smile appears on his face. "Go!" He stands up as you rush to open the door.
"Hello!" Two women stand at your door, both in scrubs and holding boxes. "We're here to help you set up your new pump and CGM, may we come in?" One of them asks. You nod and step out of the way, allowing them to walk into your shared home with Luke.
"So, it's a little overwhelming but I promise you guys will get it," There's tons of supplies laid out on the dining room table. Not one, but two insulin pumps, a bottle of insulin, a few boxes of supplies, and too many pamphlets that you and Luke will have to read later.
It takes over an hour to go over everything, both you and Luke ask questions about how everything works, and you even set up your usual ratios and basal times into your new pump. They help you and Luke set up apps on your phone for your new CGM and finally, it's time to apply it.
"So, we have your pump," One of the nurses hands you your new insulin pump. You had already filled it, you were just waiting to put the infusion set in and call it a day. "And we have one for Luke to put on for a few minutes while we finish going over everything,"
"Don't worry, its only full of saline," One of the nurses pats Luke on the shoulder. "We recommend putting your set on your tummy at first, but just like with injections you need to use an alcohol swab first,"
You and Luke both prep your stomachs. He rolls his shirt up and the nurse places a plastic set on him. She counts down from 3 and pushes two buttons, the needle rockets into his stomach and leaves a small round piece in its place. The infusion set was just a small cannula that sat under the skin, with some plastic pieces that your pump tubing could click in to. It made it super easy to unclip to shower or go swimming.
"Okay, that wasn't," He gulps. "Too bad." He runs his finger over the plastic coating.
You gulp and look over to your nurse. She has the infusion set in her hand and you reach out to grab Luke's fingers. Soon enough, the infusion set is in. And it only felt like a little pinch.
The nurses clean up and leave you two with their numbers, stealing back the pump Luke had demoed. He sighs in relief when he can peel the infusion set off his skin and throw it away. You smile up at him and run to give him a hug.
"You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you for being willing to learn." You sigh into his chest. It felt good having someone there to help you, free of judgement.
“I’m here to learn with you, my darling.” He rests his head on top of yours. “We’re in this together.”
So I promised @ask-sibverse to write the deal with Nightmare for our T1D Reader. And I might have gotten carried away. So... Enjoy this long post!
This was such a bad idea. Yet, here you were, in front of the most evil person in the Multiverse. Honestly, you would prefer Error, at least he was honest about his goals. Nightmare on the other hand... He liked manipulation. You didn't like that, but now you have no choice. You made a deal so Killer could rest on Halloween night. A deal with a devil. And the worst part? You were now facing Nightmare on your own. He planned it so Killer was on some mission with Horror and Dust during this meeting. He sent Cross to bring you, which the other did so like the loyal knight he was to his dark ruler. And when he led you to the dark office with the foreboding purple lights, you knew Nightmare was putting on a show. And now he was staring you down, sizing you like a bug to squash. You wanted to shake, but you carefully watched him back. You were determined not to show weakness. You just hope your sugar didn't drop because of his dam aura. A smile appeared on his face and you couldn't stop the slight shiver that time.
"No wonder he is so interested in you. You don't scare easily," he finally said. "Then again, you were so bold to tell me what I needed to do to my own minion. But texting me and facing me are two different things."
You stared at him as he talked. He was really confident. Annoying so. "I heard enough from you from others to know how you are," you say.
"I see. So you think just because you heard a few things about me you can stand up to me hmm?" He melted into the shadows and suddenly you were grabbed by his tentacles and held close to his body. Your heart could be heard beating fast in your chest from the fear. You didn't move, you know struggling was useless and that would be what he wanted.
"Are you done making your point?" You asked, gritting your teeth. You wonder if you bite his tentacle it would poison you. They let go soon after and his laughter could be heard from behind you.
"For now," Nightmare said as he appeared in front of you.
You crossed your arms at him, deciding it didn't matter your heart was still beating fast from the fear. You have to get done here before you actually crash from all this. There was no hiding that from the king of negativity. "Now you are done with your games, can we get to the deal I had to make with you?"
Nightmare smiled again. "Oh yes, the deal. Well, I think I picked something quite fitting for you to do as your favor to me," he said. "You go on a date with me."
You paused. You wondered if you were going deaf or something else. Did he? "A date?"
"Why yes. That is what you mortals do when getting to know each other. I would love to get to know more about you," Nightmare said. "It seems only fitting since you have relations with one of my men."
You huffed. You really didn't want to be seen anywhere in Night's company, but you were cornered. If you didn't accept this, he might think up something worse for that favor. A date... It was just dinner with Killer's boss. That's all right? You can do this and you will be free from any more obligations with the guy. "Fine."
"Good. Cross, please lead her to the room that holds my gift while I get ready," Nightmare ordered that had Cross coming back into the room. He must have been waiting at the door. You looked at Nightmare again, wondering what you got yourself into as you followed Cross out.
"You okay Y/N?" Cross asked. "Killer is worried about this."
You nod, must have been safe to talk now they were away from the office. "Yeah. He wants me on a date... Does Killer...?"
"No. Boss only told me about it and I'm not allowed to tell him. You're not allowed either. I was asked to take your phone..." Cross said.
"But... I need that Cross! You know that! For my sugars!" You shouted at him.
"I know... Look, just promise not to text Killer or anyone during this and just pretend it's just the monitor. He doesn't know what your cellphone looks like," Cross said. You didn't like this at all.
You sighed finally and took out the phone and muted everything. The monitor itself will still make noises if your sugar dropped so it wouldn't hinder the app. It wasn't surprising Nightmare knew nothing about mortal diabetics and their needs. You finished following Cross to the room.
This gift was much... Everything screamed Nightmare to you and you know this gift was more for him than yourself. It also told you that this... Date would be fancy. A black dress with sequins on the chest area and asymmetrical knee length skirt. At least it came with a black sash for your waist that you could hide your pump in. And the tubing wasn't as obvious either. Tho the long black gloves and the headband was a bit much. It even had a silver moon piece on it. The necklace too... A pretty silver crescent moon necklace with a purple stone. He was definitely making some kind of statement with this, but you were too stubborn to back out. You made sure your phone was tucked into the sash too.
Nightmare had changed as well and it surprised you a bit. He was in a night black on black pinstripe suit. With a hat to match. Everything screamed mob boss and rich to you. And you could guess where the date was taking place now. Made sense since there were only so many aus the god could walk freely in.
"My gift looks well on you Y/N," Nightmare said as he made his assessment. He gestured for Cross who walked up to him and he handed him an envelope. "Do not open until we leave and follow instructions exactly."
"Yes Boss," Cross said as he bowed and walked back from you both.
Nightmare nodded and offered his hand to you and you took it. The quicker this is done with, the quicker things could return to normal. Darkness surrounded you as he pulled you into a portal. And you were right. When the pair of you came out, it was clearly a Mafiatale au that he took you too. You glanced at the restaurant name. The Nightingale. Show off... The pair of you went inside.
The place was fancy... Really fancy. Wait... Did this place follow the prohibition logic or did they serve... Those were definitely wine glasses. You looked at Nightmare. "I can't drink alcohol," you said to him.
He gives you a look, his tentacles waving lazily behind him. "I'll make sure to ask for the cider then. I do not need the stuff myself," he said. "May I inquire why?"
"They really mess with my sugars," you told him back. He paused as the waiter came over and took the drink orders. True to his word he got some type of apple sparkling cider ordered. You looked at the menu, distracting yourself that the waiter was staring at you. You wished you could hide in the shadows yourself. You decided to order some kind of pasta dish while he got fancy steak. Once the waiter left he looked at you again.
"Right... You have some sort of disorder or something..."
"Disease. Diabetes is a disease," you corrected. He gave you a stern look, but he relented as his tentacles thumped the floor. He didn't like being corrected.
"Right. Now tell me about yourself dear..."
The talk was mostly focused on you. He rarely let anything out about himself. Even his likes or dislikes. The talk died a bit when dinner arrived. The food was tasty and you watched him eat in a fancy way. By then some singer came on the stage the place had to sing to the customers.
Once dinner was done, the pair of you left the restaurant and you saw Killer across the street, staring at you. You blushed, but before you could call out, Nightmare had grabbed you with his tendrils and pulled you close to him. You felt his teeth on your lips. Anger boiled inside you and without thinking you punched him in the face, causing a crack on his jaw and breaking some of your own in your fist. As you cried out in pain, a tentacle wrapped itself around your mouth and the rest of your body and you felt it squeezed. Shit... You punched Nightmare. In public. And now you were going to die.
You struggled to keep breathing and fight with the tentacles when you heard a yell and then something splattered against your body. You dropped to the ground, coughing as you took air into your body. All you heard was growls as you felt movement ahead of you. Looking up, Nightmare was growling, two of his four tentacles were cut and bleeding freely. Killer glaring at him and growling back.
"You dare to defy and attack me Killer? Is that any way to treat the one who rescued you from that dying au?! All for some weak human?"
Killer tensed. You couldn't tell what was going on in his head, but you could guess he was warring with himself. You knew he was loyal to Nightmare to a fault, but he attacked him to save you. "I couldn't let you kill her boss," he said.
"Then you do it Killer. Right here and now. Prove you are still loyal to me," Nightmare demanded. Killer looked at you and you stared at him back. His SOUL was wavering as he was distressed. The goop from his eye sockets dripping in large chunks. He made a move towards you, and you closed your eyes.
Maybe death from him wouldn't be so bad. A touch of metal at your throat as you wait. You open your eyes again to look into the empty sockets. "I can't..." Killer whispered. He lowered his blade. His face hardened as he turned and threw the dagger at Nightmare instead. "Run Y/N!"
You got up, but honestly where would you run to? You had a feeling Dream wouldn't be able to enter the au. You turned to see Killer fighting Nightmare. But Killer was getting cuts all over his body and he was struggling to keep himself together. Wait... Nightmare was going to send him to the next stage. "Killer!" You called out.
He twitched, but he didn't turn towards you, he was too focused on Nightmare, a laughter escaped him as you knew he entered the next stage. Nightmare was smiling.
"That's it. Just lose yourself Killer. I'll forgive you once you are done with your rampage," he said as he got closer to you.
You could see on his eye what his plan was and when you tried to run again, tendrils from your shadow wrapped around you, holding you in place. Killer was focused on Nightmare, but one of the shadow tendrils on your side lashed at him and he turned towards you. His SOUL was not it's usual target shape, but instead a sort of mess. You were told about this. Stage 3. Killer wouldn't know you in this state and he will kill you without a thought. His smile plastered on his face as he grinned at you as the knife twirled in his hand. You still had to try.
"Killer! You don't want to do this! You can fight it Killer! I know you can!" You screamed at him. No stopping, no recognition in his body that he even heard you. Just laughing and smiling. You struggled against the tendrils and heard Nightmare laughing behind you. And for the second time the knife was going to be at your throat when a rubber chicken batted it away with a loud squawk.
You blinked as you heard a loud growling behind you and you were free of the shadow tendrils as someone caught you from behind. "Man, Y/N, we got to stop meeting like this," a familiar voice said as you looked up to see Colors. You moved to hug him tight.
"This is nothing like the first time," you huffed. You looked at Epic fighting off Killer with the stupid chicken, but it was working. You saw more shadow tendrils surrounding you two and Colors used his sword to slice them apart. He glared at Nightmare, but the other was just smiling widely at him.
"Well, I'll take my leave then. Either way this ends, it deals with a problem. Even if you both survive, he'll come crawling back to me like the loyal dog he is. Especially once you die Y/N. Do not expect to survive our next encounter, unless you beg and apologize to me," Nightmare said with a laugh as he disappeared into a portal. You spat towards it as it disappeared.
You looked with worry as Epic fought Killer. He doesn't seem to be stopping. And Epic was bleeding as he fought him.
Color left your side to go help Epic. He fought Killer at Stage 3 before, so he had experience. He told you the stories. Between his attacks and the stupid squawking rubber chicken they attempted to wear him down. You wondered what you could do, everything getting a bit much as the stress build up.
Epic yelped as he was sent into a window of a store with a kick. And Colors was knocked back and landed on the ground, Killer on top of him. You didn't stop to think, your body just moved as it tackled him off Colors and pinned him on the ground. "Killer please," you begged. "It's me." He fought under you and almost knocked you off. You hugged him with all your body, feeling his mess of a SOUL against your chest. Your own heartbeat beating fast against it. You did the only thing you could think of and kissed him hard. Praying that it would work.
Killer froze under you, he didn't fight you anymore, no, instead he was returning the kiss. You felt relief as you pulled away. "I love you..." You heard from him.
"Love you too idiot," You say as you hugged him. You felt weak and the pains of your body were coming back now. Your head hurts and you hear the alarm on your phone go off. As the darkness took you, you heard the others panic. It would be fine. Killer and Colors knew what to do. You trusted them. But you swore you heard Nightmare once more as you floated into that darkness.
Because Im flying today. Because apparently "artificial skeleton bones" can get through TSA. And skeleton monsters sure aren't human or animal bones, so @dreamseersystem dared me to write this
Carryons packed? Check. Insulin? Check. Probably more pump supplies than you actually need? Check! An extra duffel bag you don't remember packing? Che- wait, what?
You walked over to open the unassuming duffel bag. "Hey, does anyone remember packing this?" You called out.
You, Sans, and Papyrus were accompanying Frisk for "important monster ambassador business." Namely they had to go in front of Congress to talk about monsterkind. Really important stuff. But no one was letting Frisk fly with a bunch of monsters, and no one wanted the twelve year old to fly alone for something so important. So you were coming along as the responsible, human adult. Why? You still questioned that.
"I DO NOT REMEMBER PACKING THAT ONE. FRISK?"
Frisk shook their head.
You opened the duffel bag. A very familiar bunch of bones was grinning up at you. "heya."
"Sans... What are you doing?"
"Artificial skeleton bones can go through TSA, and magic isn't considered "natural." Plus it saves me having to get an extra ticket for me."
"Sans..."
"IS THIS SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WALK THROUGH THE AIRPORT YOURSELF, YOU LAZYBONES?"
Sans' grin never faltered. "Aw man, you saw straight through me, bro."
(Like an X-ray!) Frisk signed.
You and Papyrus groaned simultaneously. "If airport security gives you problems you're dealing with it yourself."
"Noted."
Monsterkind was still a completely unfamiliar subject to the world above ground, so TSA had absolutely no idea how to deal with either skeleton. Frisk managed to spin things as "they had no idea how skeleton monsters were supposed to fly" so they decided to cover their bases by putting one in a bag and buying a ticket for the other. You were somewhat amazed at their ability to bullshit their way out of things sometimes.
Sans of course made comments and jokes about TSA being a bunch of perverts for looking at everyone's bones. And for having to take your socks off for them. You and Frisk managed to keep things from being a complete disaster. Somehow.
Holy Stars! Its a new SwadxReader! So... How would that collar look and work on them?
Functionally, probably somewhere between a Fell collar and a magical tracking device. Appearance wise, maybe like this? (The only gold jewelry I have ever touched is a pair of earrings, I prefer silver lol)
You stared at the item on your bed. It was a pretty thing, possibly made from at least real gold leaf. You weren't sure how comfortable it would be, the collar looked like it would probably be snug against your neck.
"Let me rephrase that. Hell to the fuck no. Why do you even want me to wear a collar? I'm not some toy poodle."
"No."
"It'll look great on you!"
He cupped your face in his large hand, forcing you to look directly at him. "Because it makes you as mine, sweetheart. You'll never be able to take it off, and I'll always be able to find you with it."
You gave him a deadpan stare. "Dream, you have no idea how that makes me want to wear it even less."
"If you put it on I'll let you travel to other AUs," he tempted. "I'll even teach you magic."
"Wait, seriously? How come?"
"Because you can never leave me with that collar on. And because you're human, sweetheart. Even if you can resist my magic, you're still powerless in a fight against me, no matter how hard you try." He released you from his hold.
Well damn if that wasn't insulting, no matter how cheerful he sounded. Actually his cheerful tone probably made it worse. Even if his emotional range only went from happily content to blindingly positive and manic.
You looked back at the collar. You'd be stuck with him, probably for the rest of your life, but you already were stuck with him. At least this way you'd have some freedom. You could learn magic. You'd never admit it out loud, but Dream was quite beautiful when he used magic, and it fascinated you to watch him and other monsters use their magic even for mundane tasks.
You huffed, grabbing the collar. "Fine. Help me put it on? I don't see a clasp on this thing."
He was so excited he was literally glowing, purring while he used his magic to put the necklace on you. "That's because it's a magic necklace, sweetheart. Only I can put it on you or take it off you. And I am never letting you go."
I Hope You Are Doing Well! I Am Loving Your Mermay Stuff And Can't Wait To Read More!
Awww thanks! I'm currently working on a fairly big move (again. Why does this happen so often I swear), so idk how often I'll do stuff this month but I want at least one or two bingos. (And working on the mer! SwapDream T1D Reader, @dreamseersystem says I should make it "canon...")
Also I'd like to petition to squish leviathan!Ink's tentacles like toe beans. Squishy (I've dissected squids before. And handled sea urchins, and petting tanks at an aquarium. Fish are an awesome thing to touch lol).
