Before Karma Hit
He thought he could go in and out of Hyrond without worrying. He thought Daniel had forgotten what he did...But Daniel never forgot. His daughter never forgot. Anzio did not know the guards had an order: if they saw him, he should be brought to the Queen’s presence immediately. Apparently, she also had told them to beat him up a bit before that.
She was young, short and had a cold-stare. Didn’t look like she was Daniel’s daughter at all. Oh yes, Daniel...He had a beautiful glow in his eyes. It felt so good to empty them, to see him cry his eyes out. Yet, this Queen...her eyes did not have that glow. She looked at him with pure disgust. When she spoke, he did not expect her voice to be so soft.
“You’re aware of why you’re here, aren’t you, Anzio?” Yuuri asked, her expression not changing except for a slight raise of eyebrows when the kneeling man grinned.
“Oh, I see, you want to avenge your daddy, huh? Did he tell you what I did? Do you really believe him..? I mean, he doesn’t have any proof...”
“The fact he can’t pronounce your name without having a panic attack is more than enough reason for me to believe him, you slimy eel. And no. I will not avenge my father.”
Slowly, the hybrid stood up and walked towards the blond male, green orbs staring deep into his soul.
“Did you know, Anzio? My father...He saw you here, once. Just from seeing you, he threw up. He couldn’t breathe. He was shaking all over, crying and gasping. Sadly, he was alone. If he had been with a friend that day, or one of my siblings, they would have attacked you. My father barely can hear your name.”
Anzio’s breath hitched when the Queen brushed away strands of his hair.
“This time...is different. Do you remember what my father is, Anzio? He is a dragon. And even though he’s a friendly one, there’s a certain time between Spring and Summer...A certain period of time where my father becomes bloodthirsty, where he wants to hunt. You know this, right? This is why he was known as Crimson Dragon for a while. After all, the last war he participated was around this period...And he lost control. It wasn’t even Lie who did that. He looked at Grimperea’s army and saw they wanted to kill him...so he killed them first, more than half of them, single-handily.”
Yuuri’s small giggle was sweet, but froze Anzio’s bones as he listened to her talk.
“You choose a very bad time to come back to Hyrond, Anzio. Had this been any other time, I know a few friends of my father who would have loved to have a...little talk with you in my father’s behalf. Not this time, though...”
“So? What are you going to do?” He grinned again, trying his best to don’t show how scared he was. “Throw me in a small cell without food or water?”
“Did you not listen to what I just said, you worthless scumbag?” This time, the Queen growled and rapidly grasped Anzio’s neck, not exactly squeezing it but pressing her claws against thin flesh. “I’m not going to throw you into a cell, Anzio. These bindings you have? It’s so you can’t do any of your little magic tricks. You toyed with my father...You scarred him for life. He lived in fear for so long, afraid you’d come again, that you’d hurt him again...If you disappear, he won’t have to worry, right? I leave your destiny in my father’s hands, Anzio. But beware...”
“My father learned how to torture without killing when he was in the army.”
