maybe  it’s  improper,  the  way  that  adam  is  watching  from  the  sidelines  as  the  soldiers  train.  maybe  he  should  be  upstairs,  working  on  something  more  befitting  of  NOBILITY.  god  knows  there’s  plenty  of  shit  his  father  would  LOVE  to  have  him  doing  —  but  adam  has  always  looked  for  any  opportunity  to  spite  the  old  man.  not  to  mention  the  fact  that  it’s  ...  ENTERTAINING  to  watch.  he  watched  the  training  even  as  a  boy,  but  nowadays,  his  reasonings  for  finding  it  so  intriguing  are  a  bit  DIFFERENT.  

takayuki  has  always  held  his  highness’  interest,  ever  since  they  were  children  :  the  boy  that  the  captain  of  the  guard  had  taken  in  as  his  protégé,  the  boy  that  was  so  close  to  the  prince’s  age.  had  it  really  been  a  surprise  that  childhood  friendship  had  turned  into  something  ELSE  as  they  grew  up?

he  knows  he’s  been  spotted  by  the  object  of  his  attention,  a  fact  that  has  a  boyish  grin  residing  on  handsome  features.  it’s  always  entertaining  once  takayuki  realizes  that  adam’s  watching  ;  even  now,  he  tries  to  IMPRESS  him,  even  in  something  as  simple  as  training,  as  if  he  hasn’t  already  gained  the  prince’s  favor  dozens  of  times.

this  makes  the  third  night  in  a  row  that  this  man’s  been  sat  at  the  bar.  arthur  isn’t  one  to  judge,  not  by  any  means,  but  this  one  stands  out  to  him.  it’s  his  job  to  observe  the  people  in  this  bar  —  it’s  a  den  of  sinful  vices,  after  all,  and  the  patrons  aren’t  usually  the  most  favorable.  it  pays  to  watch,  to  keep  an  eye  on  everyone  ;  it’s  how  he  knows  who  to  deal  with.

most  people  wouldn’t  be  able  to  differentiate  this  guy  from  any  of  the  rest  of  the  bar-goers.  arthur  can,  though.  it  had  taken  him  a  bit  to  put  his  finger  on  it,  but  he’d  eventually  figured  it  out  through  careful  observation.  maybe  it’s  not  smart  to  confront  him  on  it,  but  the  last  thing  they  need  in  here  is  a  lawman.

it’s  meant  to  be  an  icebreaker,  the  way  that  arthur  sets  an  unordered  whiskey  down  in  front  of  him.  afterwards,  he  leans  against  the  counter,  arms  folded  across  his  chest.

“  you’re  lookin'  for  someone.  ”    it’s  not  a  question.  arthur  has  confidence  in  his  conclusion.    “  you  an  undercover  cop  or  some  shit?    my  boss  doesn’t  like  when  cops  decide  to  poke  around  here.  ”

Alright so Billy might have walked himself into that one. But he wasn’t wrong. This was one of the more jealous people he had known, and Billy had met some crazy fucking people in his time. Still the question about him knowing other men made him stop for a moment and blink at him. Because in what sense did, he mean? He has seen that most of his team were men, right? They somewhat counted as friends. Less likely to kill him on sight. Sad how that was considered being on friendly terms. But with the way he chose to do things it made more sense than it should.

“Know other men? You do know I have met other people before mate?” There was something of a sarcastic tone to his voice. Because really he was pretty sure he knew what he was talking about. But he was going to see how far he could go.

“You ha’e met my team? I mean most’em are men. Jus’ not many of’em really get so bothered when I talk to someone eh?” He asked because really with his job Billy had to talk to all kinds of people. Flirt sometimes too if he thought that would loosen someone’s tongue. If it worked for him he’d do it without blinking.

Shiona has been giving Yagami sidelong glances over the past hour or so, and she hasn’t exactly been trying to hide it. There’s no point in trying to be furtive. Yagami would probably notice anyway, and it’s not like she’s planning on keeping him in the dark for much longer.

“Hey, Yagami-san? There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you for a while,” Shiona says, entirely impassive as she sets her empty glass on the bar top.

He didn’t think that this conversation had been going off that badly. At least not something that was all that stomach churning. Though seemed that some people might disagree with him on that. Chris stopped what he was saying to look over at his new companion. He didn’t know how long this one would be sticking around. He knew they were looking into a few things together. Which was part of what Chris was talking about. The man didn’t really flinch much these days when it came to blood and gore. Hadn’t really since he came back to see his home burned down and what was left of the people he left in there.

Chris laughed quietly at the comment about being hungry. How long had it been since either of them had eaten. So maybe they should stop to get something to eat. Looking around the town they were currently standing in hearing him talk about where they were going to eat.

“You have seen this place haven’t you?” He asked knowing that there wasn’t too many choices about where to eat restaurant wise. There was a good place. They had good food. But they didn’t have too many options.

“Didn’t think talking about this case was going to get you hungry.” Thought maybe they wouldn’t even think about food at the current moment. That was something they he thought would be for later. Once they were done with his part of the job. Though the mention of food did remind him that he was a bit hungry too.

“But I’m sure if that’s the case we can find something.” Stop in the one place in town that they could count as a restaurant. But they would be able to have a good time. He grinned as he motioned for him towards the place he was thinking. “Guess this isn’t going anywhere.”

He had better days. Certainly, looked better most days. He knew that if Nathan found him down here after that beating, he would have a fit. But he was not going to be staying there for long. Not a chance. It got too dull up there. He had to move sometimes, sleep in his own bed thank you very much. Nathan meant well he knew. Only wanted to make sure they didn’t make their injuries worse. Knowing how Ezra or Chris could be it was a real concern.

Ezra was sitting at his usual table, probably not looking his usual self. He was half expecting to hear something about it. The rest of the guys hadn’t come in yet. Probably off doing whatever it was they did before the night life hit. Mostly play law. A game he never thought he would have been a part of. He really thought he would have been long gone from this place by now. Yet here he was for some reason playing the part of gambler and working with these roughens to protect a growing little town that he wondered sometimes if they would make it. He wondered sometimes what these people thought of him.

Hearing a voice Ezra stopped shuffling his cards and turned towards the voice. He recognized the man. While he might have looked like he had taken a beating he was well aware that it could have been so much worse if someone hadn’t stepped in. Like this man behind him. Chris and the others had been a little hold up. If the sounds of gunshots he had heard were anything to go by.

“Well good afternoon.” He greeted with a smile. “Would you care to join me for a hand or two?” The words were something he should make a comment about. Wasn’t often people used such vulgar terms here. And really the first time they were directed at him. Not that he probably hadn’t earned it. He just decided not to comment on it. Because really didn’t take him much to guess what he was referring too.
