"I knew this day would come, Guardian..." Mara Sov turned slowly, her azure eyes watching as the antlered figure came to a halt, amythyst light glittering, glazing the worn surfaces of the armour.
"I should have recognized you when you were locked in the Prison of Elders with your pack of Wolves, but, I was too secure in the knowledge you'd died long ago.." Aloof, as always, the Awoken Queen spread her hands, the slightest smile on her lips, "Yet here we are, the day of Judgment...and what better a judge than Death herself, and the Scribe..."
Hanging back several paces a hunched Eliksni lent on his staff, his artificial limbs clutching the object just as tightly as his organic ones, his chain veil gleaming as he inclined his head, "I come to bare witness to what befalls you." Variks croaked in the common English of the system, his voice seeming the echo across the smooth walk way yet halted at it's edges, swallowed by the soft hues and expansive scape around them.
Up till now, the interloper was silent, the subtle shift of her weight saw the demure tinkling of the hammered, brass bells cascading along her form - Mara was correct - This, was Death: more specifically, Her Death.
Uldren was already lost to her, taken by the Darkness then snached by the Light, twisted by his gift to his Sister, the Queen.
Riven of a Thousand Voices had betrayed her masters and sought to break her chains, making a deal with the wrong locksmith.
The true Chain Breaker stood before Mara, the Kell of Dread, The only Mother a Wish Dragon could wholly love... Huninn and Muninn whispered still from their bone bare jaws of this - Primal personification of the Light...
Mardöll Fornölvir - Ezra, The Ram - shifted once more, a glint of scarred Iron sliding into view, clutched loosely in her right hand, the Seax her Father forged her centuries ago when he learned of her exploits as a Corsair after abandoning her Mother's wishes of Techeun schooling.
"...Mara Sov, you stand guilty of the murder of Mardöll Fornölvir and the subsequent slaying of Frida Fornölvir. As well as the countless other crimes you have committed against the Awoken people, the inhabits of Earth, the enslavement of the Eliksni of the Reef as well as the atrocities carried out in the Prison of Elders and those committed by your agents in your name and under your banner..."
A sharp peal of laughter cut the somber judgment, the Queen laughing openly at the creature before her and as her mirth quieted Mara motioned the Risen forth, "Come, sit with me, my agents will be here soon enough to put an end to this foolishness..."
"No, Mara, they will not." Mardöll's firm words seemed to finally draw the Queen's eye to the details she didn't notice before, that some of the sheen on the Risen's armour wasn't old brass or rusted Iron after all but blood. The dark stain of the heavy, tattered leathers wasnt the hue imbued to it upon creation but rather centuries of blood soaked into it's being and it's fresh gloss was it's newest coat.
Finally Mara paled, the sinking reality that her Dreaming City, her Reef had been ravaged while she sequestered herself here on the Throne she'd spent her lifetime in the Sol System fabricating.
So focused was the Queen on the next step, the next acquisition to further root her power and sovereignty that she forgot, foolishly, to look back in the shadows. "You'll not claim my head easily, Guardian...."
"I expect not, Lions are viscous when cornered..", It was Mardöll's turn to interrupt her, "I am no Guardian, just as you are no true Queen..."
Variks, though the burden was difficult, keenly observed the entire battle.
Inching forth or falling back when the pair ebbed and flowed to or from his position.
Mardöll's Ghost never emerged, knowing that doing so would invite the Queen to strike him from the air.
Only when the floor was a growing pool of blood, when the Queen's head was held firmly in Mardöll's gore slick hands, did Revenant phase into view, /"...Was it worth it...?"\
"Dread Kell, we must leave...the Throne is collapsing..."
A motion saw Mara's corpse stored within Revenant's inventory, the Ghost dissipating in a flash of faded blue light.
The Queen's glazing eyes saw every step Mardöll's cloven boots took upon the world's crumbling floor, her ears hearing the jovial, yet reserved cries of relief when the Wraith and Scribe emerged from those Royal doors.
Mara Sov was Dead and Mardöll Fornölvir - Ezra The Ram, was the crowend Queen of the Reef.
