More recent progress!
PLUS as a neat bonus a very generous Secret Santa got me a Macromat set. Still figuring out lighting with it but this thing is going to be rad!
Tablewar mk3 case! Now home to my 30k army. Ok, so for the unfamiliar, this is a magnetic tray display case. As a bag n case junky this thing falls in a particular niche which can make its assessment tricky. There are some problems with using the case that other bloggers have already figured out. Ignoring their tin trays and getting locally cut sheet metal is superior in terms of cost and weight. I found a local supplier and got them to cut 4 perfectly sized sheets of 24ga hr steel for about 20$. This lets you maximize your space, as you can see here I went through several stages of packing until I found more optimal configurations. You'll find images online of someone who got 6 Imperial Knights into one of these babies so the potential IS there. With the sheet modification you can still perfectly, and I mean Amazingly, slot a Baneblade chassis into the thing! I got 13x5 32mm bases into one tray, but by alternating them 5-4-5-4-etc, I got 3 more bases in. A word on magnets. Neodymium "rare earth" magnets are what you want, and you don't need to get them flush with the metal for them to hold. You just need to be mindful of the size of the magnet relative to the distance from the metal, compared to the weight vs fragility of the model. Go too far and you'll lift the metal out before you detach the model or worse yet, you'll rip the model apart before it's base comes away. The only modifications I made for attaching my magnets was for my tanks. By gluing on left over infantry bases to each other I found I got exactly the right height, which is great! Currently I am awaiting my Mastodon, which I hope will slot just right into the bottom. I can say with great certainty that there are some models that just will not fit (right or well) into these things, and they are the obvious Titans, super flyers and big fortifications.
The TABLE WAR at Lunch
(Seriously guys it’s chaotic)
ENTJ gets to last table left in lunchroom first cause our normal table got taken *Girl gets there right after* Girl: Um, this is where WE usually sit. ENTJ: Well our table got taken. Girl: I have friends coming. ENTJ: …uh sorry? Girl: ENTJ: *INTP arrives* ENTJ: *get over here INTP!* *beckons over* *Girl’s friend arrives* ENTJ: Girl: ENTJ: Girl: Girl: … Girl to friend as they walk away: Well I wasn’t gonna fight her for it… ENTJ: *Oh you know you weren’t about to* *im not having it today and I would have beat your ass ((verbally of course))* ENTJ to INTP: she was in my math class last year so she should already know that I will fight. I will do it. INTP: …good job.
