They’re keeping him in solitary confinement. Not a kind place for a mentally ill man that isolated himself from the world after he faked his own death. A man whose acute stress disorder could turn into PTSD. Now, prolonged loneliness is being forced upon him.

Callaghan’s trapped with his guilt over the people he hurt, both physically and emotionally, as Yokai. Ergo, prison time isn’t a walk in the park, despite what certain fans would like you to believe.

This is what hating a chacrater looks like: "I hate your favorite character. You're a crappy person for liking them, and you should feel bad about it. I'm going to write a revenge fic about that bastard/bitch."

What not hating a character looks like: "I don't think the writers should resurrect this character to use him as a twist. It would feel wrong, you know? His purpose was to die, thereby strengthening the main protagonist's character development."

Abigail Callaghan did nothing wrong. Innocent people don’t deserve to suffer due to someone else’s actions.

its still fan pandering tho if Tadashi doesn't come back so yeah. So Tadashi not returning is pandering to you deranged fans. also death matters suure. kill your mother for me.

The writers killed Tadashi off to tell their story a certain way. Remember, Big Hero 6 revolves around loss and the four stages of grief. Bringing him back would go against those themes. So yeah, Tadashi remaining dead isn’t fan-pandering.How many accounts do you have? Jebus Christo, man.

Big Hero 6 PSA #4

Callaghan wanted to kill Krei for his role in Abigail’s “death.” He did not know she was alive.

“I want my daughter back,” was Callaghan’s impossible request to Krei, who tried paying his way out of his predicament. 

Krei: Listen to the kid, Callaghan. Please, let me go. I’ll give you anything you want.

Callaghan: I want my daughter back. 

In other words, Krei could not bring her back to life, and they both knew it. As a result, none of his offers would have worked on Callaghan. It only reminded him why Krei “deserved” to die. 

In short, Callaghan’s plan was to ruin Krei’s work, then chuck him into the portal, thereby killing him. 

Callaghan: You’re going to watch everything you’ve built disappear. Then it’s your turn.

Here We Go Again

The loss of a loved one - no matter who it is - is still a loss. Most people who’ve lost someone dear to them can empathize with individuals that have also lost loved ones.

You’re the one that's bringing a hierarchy into this conversation. FYI, Hiro’s loss matters just as much as Callaghan’s.

Prison time isn’t a light punishment. Not in the slightest! Have you ever conducted research on prisons and the inmates’ behavior before?

Callaghan, who’s mentally ill (acute stress disorder) and elderly, would not have it easy there at all. 

Callaghan’s in prison (where he can easily become prey, I might add): alone, regret-ridden, and unable to be with Abigail. That’s punishment enough no matter how you slice it.
