Hakeem is creative, selfish, ambitious and impulsive. As the youngest Lyon, Hakeem has always felt like he needed to prove himself to his family and be the leader of Empire.
At his best, Hakeem becomes more responsible after the birth of his daughter Bella. Hakeem also becomes more loyal to his family and begins to put others above himself.
At his worst, Hakeem can be extremely selfish and arrogant. When he was younger, he often used others for his own interests. Hakeem was also very disrespectful to his family, especially Cookie.
Hakeem was always treated better than his brothers by Lucious because of his musical talent. So, Hakeem felt like he was entitled to become the leader of Empire. However, he also wanted to make sure he did a good job once he actually became CEO of Empire.
Hakeem is naturally very talented, but will often self-sabotage when he feels he is not being heard or that he is not doing what he wants, which can be common in unhealthy 7s. As we see him grow throughout the series, he becomes more receptive to listening to others and cooperates with his colleagues more.
7s do not like feeling trapped in anything as they like to have more choice in their lives, which we see with Hakeem. Whenever Lucious tries to control Hakeem's music career, Hakeem reacts badly. For example, he purposely sabotages Lucious by leaking his own music.
