#Coring. Here you see the mid-core drill where you are essentially throwing an uppercut with the pointy end of your blade oriented to insert behind the wall of the diaphragm. Once it's in, you may "tickle the heart" by dynamically and violently manipulating your blade. Use hip and shoulder rotation for power generation and deep blade penetration. This is a particularly nasty blade strike because it comes in from below the line of vision of your adversary. Coring can be used as a fight-stopper, as well as to manipulate the attacker and, hence, the environment where your attack occurs. Once the blade is inserted, it's used as a "handle" - as when in ice pick grip, the blade tip is thrusted into the subclavian artery and commonly employed for "shielding" with multiple attackers. As for grip preference, we will address the merits of ice pick and saber / hammer grip in a later post. In the meantime, hopefully we can agree that "Terrain Dictates Technique & Tactics." .... Coring (thrusts to particular areas of the body) is a prominent go-to technique in several combative knife curriculums. Coring, opening someone up, stick & twist, ballistic wounding, and crowbaring. It's all been around for millennia.
