i always get tearful when people leave walls of comments on my fics. the in-depth analysis y'all will go into, the love i feel pouring out of those comments, the appreciation. i always have a hard time responding to them, because i feel like a simple "thank you" isn't nearly enough. it's not that i don't see them, it's not that i'm intentionally ignoring them. it's that every time i sit down to respond, i'm overwhelmed. by gratitude, by my own sappy emotions. i put everything i have into my writing. and people telling me how they connected with it? that feels like payoff.
so i want to know–as a commenter, what would be a response you'd like hearing? do you even expect a response? and as a writer, is there anything you typically say to comments like these?
How many of my followers remember when I wrote Sade/Robespierre porn on a dare?
