Ever since my most recent reread of WaT, something I cannot get over is:
Taln swore a different oath than all the other Heralds. They all swore to uphold the Oathpact for Honor, but Taln swore it for the people of Roshar. I don't know if this is significant or just a coincidence, but I am going absolutely feral over the fact that the only one who never broke was the only one who didn't swear by a deity who proved to be deeply flawed.
dealer: it’s called stonesinew shrooms. supposed to make you feel like Talenelat'Elin the herald of war
me: yeah i don’t feel crem
*five minutes later*
me: The time of the Return, the Desolation is near at hand. We must prepare. You will have forgotten much, following the destruction of the times past. Kalak will teach you to cast bronze, if you have forgotten this. We will Soulcast blocks of metal directly for you. I wish we could teach you steel, but casting is so much easier than forging, and you must have something we can produce quickly. Your stone tools will not serve against what is to come. Vedel can train your surgeons, and Jezrien . . .
my friend : i can not break I will not break i shall not break i have never broken I will not break i can not break i will not break i will not break I won’t break I can’t break i…
Taln..... I love you Taln..... oh my god...... Taln, Bearer of Agonies...... you never broke....... you didn't even want to be there and you never broke...... my pookie.... my glorious king...... my dearest love......
SOMEONE HUG TALN RIGHT NOW
Before WaT, I didn’t give a shit about most the Heralds. But after? These are my mentally ill babies and I’d fight Retribution for them
how i NEED taln to be vacationing in book 6 my love needs it
I love how instantly Abidi's posture changes once he sees Taln getting up. He had to have seen this man essentially comatose for centuries at a time because there was no one to protect on Braize. But one look at the man and he is a wet puppet running for his life. No bravado, no rivalry, just pure terror.
