Captain’s Desire
Leaving that Heart’s Desire book out in the open wasn’t Pico’s brightest idea.
(Originally completed August 21.)
Good afternoon, it is time to ruin FNF Neo once again.
If you read my previous story (here!), I said there that this would be a sequel to that. So here it is, though its not really what I’d consider a sequel, more of an “alternate continuation.” Events from the previous story are mentioned though. Oh yeah, this takes place in the FNF Neo universe, but honestly it’s not that noticeable or super important. You can easily imagine it as “canon” FNF and the story still works.
To be honest, this was slightly rushed past like, 3/4 of it. I got to the post-vore part and then blanked out for a few days until Neo’s fake out release yesterday and today gave me second wind to finish this. I was planning to post this on Neo’s release day but there’s not much point in waiting for an unknown amount of time, so I’m posting it now.
As usual, its available on AO3, you need an account to view but there’s not anything special there so you’re not missing out.
Tankman... anything Tankman please
Boom ya got it have this quick sketch haha xD (This might or might not be detailed who knows lol)
The Story Of P.O.V.: Revenge At Last? (Part 1)
Yep, we’re splitting this into multiple parts, because I just could not possibly see myself releasing this gigantic project all at once.
****
Your heart is unusually heavy as you solemnly stroll through the desert sands, nothing but your own soft breathing and the crunching of the sand beneath your shoes disturbing your silence as you continue on towards your destination, your arrival to which is awaited by many individuals whom you know, some rather intimately, and some as mere acquaintances. All simply awaiting your presence, as all of them were united together under the prospect of one common goal.
You can’t help but feel slightly nostalgic towards this place, as it was in fact the very same patch of desert where, decidedly not very long ago, you had at last seen Jeff for the first time since his capture. You shake your head with a hefty sigh as your mind ruminates over the events of that day. Sometimes it really did seem like Jeff was the only one you could turn to in times like those.
Nonetheless, your personal feelings aside, you came here on a mission, and a rather important one at that. Forcing yourself to hold your head up straight rather than letting it perpetually hang downwards, glaring at nothing but the sparkling sands below, you let out one more sigh before you make your way over the small sand hill just slightly above the exact area which had been decided upon by your group as being the meeting spot.
As such, the faces of all of those both you and Jeff had met and recruited for this cause turn towards you simultaneously, saying nothing to each other as you meander your way down the small hill and into the group, where you take a brief second to collect yourself before beginning to speak.
“Alright, alright. I made it at last. I’m very glad that all of you could be here today. Um...yeah. Let’s uh...let’s get a headcount, shall we?”
There are some brief murmurs amongst the group as your eyes scan over the two subsets within your team. One one side there were the famed and revered Tankmen characters, with Captain, or Tankman as he has been known as recently, standing protectively next to Steve, a firm hand on his shoulder, with a rather indifferent looking Skittles standing a couple feet away, doing nothing but rhythmically tapping his finger to his side as he waited for any further instructions. Jeff was there too, of course, sitting comfortably on Captain’s shoulder, but needless to say, he wasn’t truly a part of this famed group. You nod to yourself in satisfaction in knowing they’re all here.
The second subset amongst your team was the decidedly less known group of Zardy’s maze characters. Of course, Zardy himself wasn’t that obscure, but speaking relativistically, the others certainly were. You give a brief shudder as your brain briefly relives the horrendous events of your entry into their maze. Brushing off those memories to continue your current business, you go over the cast of characters that Zardy had brought forth into your team at the end of your encounter, that which you had indeed intertwined into your plans for the great, and extremely risky, heist the group of you was about to commit.
There was Cable Crow, of course, whose threat to you was basically nonexistent back in the maze due to your size; as well as the caretaker of all of the pumpkin crawlers in the maze, Pumpkin Jack. You briefly remember back in the maze when you had just barely been able to avoid one of his pumpkin crawlers. You grit your teeth slightly, realizing that back then you had absolutely no idea how lucky you had gotten. There was also a Brute amongst the crowd, the maze’s resident mysterious cloaked strong guy, who protected its weeds. Then at last there was the decided oddball of the group, Drought, the living dust cloud who’s teleportation abilities would certainly prove useful in this operation.
After having confirmed everyone’s presence, you take in a gigantic deep breath before speaking once more.
“Alright. We’re all here. Great. Now! I’m sure you are all very familiar as to why we’re all here. Of course, the impacts this war has had on ourselves will vary from person to person here, but I think all of us can agree on one thing: ‘It has to be stopped immediately.’ otherwise…” you find yourself unable to continue as your brain quickly flashes through the possibilities of the future where your operation was to fail.
“..um! Yes! Anyways! So you all went over the plans like I asked, right? You’re all familiar with your roles?”
Captain, or as you have been familiar with him, Tankman, speaks first. “I sure did, and wowsie! I gotta say, you really went whole hog on this thing, didn’t you!”
You briefly raise an eyebrow in confusion of this statement. “...of course I did. We’re stealing confidential war plans from my government.” you immedietly retort. “What, did you expect me to NOT go whole hog?” Tankman seemed to get a little more anxious now that his words were getting inquired. “Well, no, of course not! That’s not what I meant! I was talking about how robustly everything’s laid out in these papers, and like, you’ve even added little charts and diagrams and stuff!”
You give a little shrug. “Well, regardless of what you meant, you went over what you’re supposed to do, right?”
“Yes I did! And I definitely made sure that these three with me knew what they were gonna be doing, because, well, like you said, government-heisting. Don’t have much margin for error!”
It was at this point that Steve at last spoke up. “I...still can’t fully comprehend the fact that...all this time you guys weren’t our enemy. Just, for so long, I...yeah, you get it. But still. It was really a shock at first when you first told me.” he relays to the group before briefly pointing to Jeff, who gave a little friendly bout of finger gunning back. “But yeah. I know what I’m going to do. Captain here does, Jeff does, I’m not sure about Skittles though.”
Skittles, upon hearing his name being called, immediately snapped to attention. “Huh, what? Did you need me for something?”
Steve rolls his eyes slightly. “You know what your role is in the plan, right?”
It’s then that Skittles at last understands. “Oh, right! Of course! Of course I remember what I’m going to do! Stand by you at the door where Captain here’s going to be speaking with...whoever those Tinies’ president is, and we make sure nothing bad happens and nobody can go in and out!”
Captain gives a sharp nod. “So you do have the capacity to remember basic instructions! Good to know!”
Skittles would’ve retorted to this comment, but ultimately refrained from doing so, as he didn’t wish to breed any animosity between the group at this stage of the game.
“...okay….” you let your word drag out as you turn towards Zardy. “What about you guys? Remember what you gotta do?”
Zardy gives a small shrug before speaking. “I mean, I remember, but I’m not sure if any of these guys do.” he says while pointing back at his gang.
Realising almost immediately that singling out any of those powerful undead creatures on what they remembered in terms of instructions was probably a really, really bad idea, so instead, you said this: “Alright, in that case then, why don’t we go over the outline for the plan one last time, and what everyone has to do just so we’re all on the same page; and as a refresher, because it took even me a second to get all the details down.”
Zardy seems to have no objection to this proposal, and proceeds to reach into his pocket to pull out the small bundle of papers that you gave him a while back. He bends down to lay them out in front of you as you briefly skim over what you wrote. Whispering the words to your plan under your breath, you are at last prepared to read it out to the rest of your group.
“Alright, everyone listen up!” you call out to the entire group as you place your finger on the first line of the first page. “I’m going to go over the plan one last time, so everybody better listen very closely!”
As nobody had any reason to object, you clear your throat, and begin.
“Alright, so! Operation High Revenge, as I’ve titled it! End Goal: Steal the war plans for the next major military encounter with the Tankmen army from the capitol building of my government! But, you already knew that. Alright...” you briefly skim over a few boring introductory sections before getting to the meat of the papers. “Right, found it. Roles! So! This operation hinges on one very important principle: Not getting caught! And thankfully, this group has a multitude of ways to do that! Me and Jeff are small, Zardy can turn invisible, Pumpkin Jack has super speed, and Drought can teleport people, but more to the point, more than just avoiding anybody who’s going to be in the building when we begin the heist, we have to make some sort of non-suspicious distraction to keep them out of our way with no room for doubt! And after going over various ideas, this is the one I stuck with! Though you already know what it is, since you’ve all heard this once or twice before, but again, that’s not the point!”
You take in another deep breath before going on. “Okay! Roles! First up, Captain, or Tankman, whichever name you prefer: His role is very important in this. Basically, in order for us to sneak into the building without any suspicion, we’re going to set up a non-suspicious event where the doors open, and take that window of opportunity to sneak in! And that, of course, shall be done through diplomacy! Captain here shall send an email to the capitol requesting a friendly meeting between him and the president, to discuss a possible peace settlement, though we all know it’s going to be rejected, but again, that’s not the point, the point is that he’ll give the doors a reason to be opened, and that’s our way in! Plus, his conversation with the prez gives us a near one-hundred percent certainty that we’re not going to bump into him during this! And of course, as Skittles said earlier, he and Steve will basically help escort Captain there, and stand by the door to the meeting room, thus making sure nobody gets in, or out, and if anything goes wrong, we’ll know immediately, thanks to all the duplicate earpieces that Jeff so generously made for all of us! Thanks again for that, Jeff!”
Upon receiving this compliment, Jeff can’t help but smile a bit. “Aww, no problem, man!” he giddily responds.
You swifty give him a nod of acknowledgement before going back to your papers.
“...of course, buddy. Now, Zardy! As you have the ability to turn invisible, so once the doors are open, we will have absolutely no trouble sneaking past security, although there’s no guarantee that we can’t be detected by other means like motion sensors or heat sensors, but we’ll get back to that later! You remember the route I laid out to you on the paper, right? Because that’s the quickest way to the archives from the front door! That’s where literally all the important stuff is stored, mostly in digital form, so that’s where they keep their war plans, of course. You will keep me hidden in your guts up until our arrival in the archive room, where you’ll release me, and I’ll steal that information quick and easy, and then we’ll get the heck out of there! Or, that’s the plan at least, but like I said earlier, what if they also have motion sensors, or heat sensors in addition to regular ones? Well, we’d need to get control over the cameras then, right? So, that’s exactly what we’re going to do!
You glance up at Pumpkin Jack. “Pumpkin Jack, you told me last time we talked about this, that, and I quote, ‘Yeah, at top speeds those cameras wouldn’t even have time to detect me before I just zoomed my way on by!’ I have absolutely no idea what that’s supposed to mean exactly, but I’ll have to count on that being true, because that’s exactly what we’re going to need to get into the security office. Of course, the door will be locked, and there’s a good chance that they have guards managing the cameras, so that’s where our living dust cloud comes in! Drought will enter through the ventilation system and get into the security room, where...uh...you did say you could pick up items, right Drought?” you ask the dust cloud as you attempt to converse with him.
Drought only gives an ethereal groan in response.
“Ummm….is that a yes?”
“It’s a yes, don’t worry.” Pumpkin Jack quickly affirms your suspicion.
“Good. So then you’ll use whatever’s available, and knock out the guards if there are any, and then unlock the door so that when Pumpkin Jack comes sprinting past the cameras, he doesn’t have to stop to unlock or open the door, you will open it, and he’ll just go straight in. Oh yeah, and you do still have that USB I gave you, right Jack?”
Pumpkin Jack reaches into his pocket and pulls out the USB. “You mean this thing? Yes, of course I still have it. And yes, I know where to plug it in! You’ve shown me that diagram so many times it’s practically ingrained inside my head at this point!”
You give a pleased nod. “Great to hear! So, yes, plug it in, and the USB should automatically erase all the footage from a few minutes prior just in case your claim of being able to...outspeed the cameras...doesn’t turn out to be...quite the truth. But yeah, since at that point you can basically watch all the cameras, we won’t have any reason to worry about being caught by them. We could, however, get caught by any random employee wandering around who just happens to bump into us. So lastly, to ensure THAT won’t happen, my good buddy Jeff here will ALSO be entering through the vents, but instead of going to the security room with Drought, he’s going to follow the path me and Zardy are taking to the archive room, but he’ll always be a few feet ahead of us, so that if somebody’s coming our way, he will know, and because of the earpieces, can tell us in advance so we’re ready to react to it. However, he will have to wait for Drought to deal with the guards, so he can take their security keys and give the one to the archive room to Jeff, so he can go through the vents, and when me and Zardy get to the door of said room, we’ll have the key available right away via our beloved little Rat-Man.”
You take in a deep breath before continuing. “So! We have Captain, Steve, and Skittles distracting the president and other highly ranking officials, Pumpkin Jack and Drought taking care of the security cameras, and Jeff making sure some Joe Shmoe worker at the office doesn’t ruin our plans on accident. And then me and Zardy will actually be getting the information. That’s almost everything, but there’s also the possibility that someone could come into the building that we don’t know about that could cause our plan to fail, so because of that, we’ll have Cable Crow attach to the roof of the building, and function as a lookout, so that we’ll know if anybody is coming near, and if they try to get in, then, well, they’ll have to answer to Brute, who’s also gonna make sure nobody gets in or out. I guess it’s not one-hundred percent foolproof, since Brute will have to constantly go around the building, so he can constantly be checking multiple entrances, but if someone tries to get out or in, and Brute doesn’t see, hopefully Cable Crow will and they can coordinate. And thus, nobody can interfere with me and Zardy sneaking into the archive room to steal my government’s war plans!”
You let out a hefty sigh after having just said all of that. “Alright, now that we’ve all gotten a refresher, does anyone have any questions?”
Cable Crow raises his ‘hand’.
“Yes?” you firmly ask as you call on him.
“Yeah uh, this all sounds well and good, but like, don’t you have that glove of yours that can help you teleport anywhere? Why can’t you just teleport straight into the security room, use your small size to sneak past the guards, destroy some wires or something so the cameras don’t work, and then teleport into the archive room to get the information that way, instead of recruiting all of us for this complicated heist?”
You give a slight ‘tisk’ before responding. “Great question, Cable Crow! I just knew somebody was going to ask that eventually, so I’ll just say this here: I already tried that! And I don’t know if it’s just some weird quirk of how the glove works, or if there’s somehow some sort of anti-teleportation device in that building, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get myself to teleport directly into any of the rooms.”
Jeff raises a hand briefly in order to add onto the conversation. “And he even had me look into that to see if I could fix it, and honestly, I just could not find out why it wasn’t working! Like, I don’t think it’s a ‘glitch’ or a ‘quirk’ of the glove, I just...yeah I really don't know, but your idea wasn’t lost on us. We tried. But it didn’t work.”
Cable Crow seems content with this answer. “I see. That makes a lot more sense now.”
You nod to him again to conclude the interaction. “Okay, any other questions?”
Skittles raises his hand.
“Yes?”
“Yeah, uh, just like...in an event where all else has failed, then what?”
“‘If all else fails, then what?’” you repeat to yourself under your breath. “Again, good question. Um...honestly, it depends upon what exactly happens. But, for a general application emergency plan, in case of an emergency, Pumpkin Jack in the security room will push the security alert button, which causes the building to go into ‘lockdown mode’, physically ensuring nobody can get in or out. Then everyone on our team that’s in the building will gather in the security room, we’ll lock the door, and then decide what to do from there based on what has happened.”
Skittles nods his head a few times. “Oh, okay. That’s actually kind of a good idea, all things considered. I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Yes, and you all should keep all of your roles in mind while all the contacting is going on between the capitol and Captain over here. Or Tankman, whatever you wanna call him.”
You clap both your hands together and let out another sigh of exhaustion. “Alright, well, if nobody else has any questions, then I think we’re done here! So uh, any more questions?”
No more hands were raised.
“Alright, then I hereby draw this meeting to a close! We’ll get together one last time on the day of the heist itself, and then this plan goes into action! So make sure you are all one-hundred percent confident in your knowledge of your role, and your ability to go through with that role before the day you need to act on it, because once this heist starts…” you narrow your eyes slightly as you gaze around at your group. “...then there’s no more going back.”

Verminium was but one of the many small desert towns that existed within the general realm which the Tinies claimed dominion over. The greater U.N.T. (United Nation of Tinies) existed as a broader entity over all of these towns, however, due to their sparse and spread out nature, they were exceedingly difficult to govern. As such, though it technically existed as part of a larger nation, Verminium was, for all intents and purposes, autonomous. That was, until the occupation.
You grit your teeth slightly thinking about the occupation as you close the door behind you. Forcing your head to look up from the floor, your gaze can’t help but wander around the area in your general vicinity for a while, simply stopping to take everything in as you thought. To an outsider, nothing much about Verminium seemed off. The people were traversing, shops were open, and things overall seemed pretty relaxed. You shake your head and sigh as you begin to walk through town. As you go by, familiar buildings and familiar faces greet your view. There were more general stores like the local grocery and clothing stores going about their business, the both of which were mainly relying on locally-made goods due to the current economic climate, and the fact that it was generally unsafe for the towns to trade between themselves like they used to. Then there were establishments like the the Verminium firefighters, who always had an emergency storage of water at the ready, the postal service, which normally handled letters traveling in and out of Verminium, but was now mostly defunct, and even a bank, because despite Verminium’s secluded nature, the luxuries of the modern world were not lost to its citizens, who were able to enjoy electricity and indoor plumbing no problem. Thus, complex institutions like banks still made their ways into town life. And then of course, there was the police force. You have to stop for a second to let yourself process your emotions before continuing your walk. Before the occupation, they normally just dealt with the occasional rowdy hooligan who thought it would be a funny prank to vandalize some poor guy’s front porch, but now...they had been completely taken over by government-ordained occupiers, and the head occupier pretty much lived in the station at this point.
You ball up your hand into a fist. As much as you hated your occupiers, there was still some hope they could be “coaxed” to leave, as had been the secret idea between you...and a certain somebody else within this town. Turning your head to the right, you at last catch a glimpse of her establishment.
Alissa of Verminium was the town’s local baker, and one would think her to be quite kindly to match. Absolutely not. Alissa was the one person in the town that literally nobody else had the balls to mess with. Not a single soul. She had a very firm “don’t tread on me” additude, and just so everybody knew her threats weren’t empty, had a pretty good handle on your standard handgun. (Needless to say though, those handguns got confiscated pretty quickly by the occupiers once they were in control).
It was relatively early in the morning, so while the Bakery wasn’t completely empty, it was customer-free enough for you to be able to walk straight up to the counter and wait for a second for Alissa to come by without having to cut through any lines.
When she at last came through the doors to the kitchen and took note of you, she and you knew exactly why you were here. She takes a few steps towards the gate marking the border between the customer side and the employee side before speaking.
“Hey, just for reference, next time, you don’t need to wait for me to come up to the counter, you can just go straight back into the kitchen.” Alissa notes to you as she lets you behind the counter and guides you into the kitchen.
“Alright, I’ll keep that in mind.” you quickly respond.
Alissa gives a short nod. “Okay, now, anyway, getting to the reason we’re here in the first place, yes. I did manage to wrestle that spider into the head occupier’s closet.”
“You remembered to put the plastic fang-covers on it, right? I don’t want this scare-tactic to turn into a homicide.” you firmly ask Alissa, enforcing your point further by glaring her straight into her dark blue eyes. (Though most of the Tinies in the U.N.T. had standard black eyes, a few such as Alissa had colored ones, and Alissa complimented her dark blue eyes by dying her short, wavy hair light blue for contrast. The gray and black casual clothes she wore were rather colorless compared to the rest of her).
“Yes, yes, as temping as it was to leave that spider there as a murder weapon, I did put those covers on it like you asked.”
“Good. I guess now all we have to do is wait. When does the head occupier wake up?”
“How would I know? I’m not some weirdo who goes around taking notes of peoples’ daily routines!”
“Well, of course not, Alissa, and neither am I, I just...thought that if for some reason you happened to know, it would be good for me to know.”
Alissa shrugs. “Well, I guess the only way we’ll know for sure is to wait for-”
All of a sudden, an ear-splitting screech of pure terror was emitted from something outside.
“Ah, well, there’s our answer.”
Alissa and you, as well as most of the town, immediately rushed out to see what was up, if only to immediately run back in again after their eyes had laid upon it. That was, of course, with the exception of you and Alissa, who seemed rather unusually calm given the current situation. Cries of panic and anxiety rang out through the air as the head occupier came sprinting out of the police station with a gigantic spider right on his ass. The rest of the police force that was still active quickly rushed to both calm the people down, and find something to secure the spider, before a well-known “CAW!” echoed across the sky.
“Ah, right on cue, Ebony Feather.” you mutter to yourself under your breath. Ebony Feather was a crow who doubled as Verminium’s resident delivery guy, who brought imports and trade goods over from the other towns, but had chosen Verminium as the town he wished to retire too after his shifts were over. Ebony Feather was no stranger to situations like this. Due to the giant nature of bugs in respect to the residents of this town, he had often been the one to come in clutch to take care of a vicious scorpion, or beetle who had wandered into town. Bugs getting into peoples houses weren’t unheard of either, especially in the houses whose owners were known to forget to lock the door. Nonetheless, these things happened infrequently enough that the Verminium populus wasn’t completely desensitized to the events yet, and as such proved to be the perfect scare tactic to try to forcefully get the unwanted occupiers to leave the town.
Ebony feather landed right in front of the terrified occupier, who was still dressed in his pajamas as the spider drew nearer. Ebony Feather, wasting no time at all, dived in on the horrendous creature and snatched it up in his beak before it could lunge onto the occupier.
“I’ve got it! Don’t worry, you’re safe now!” Ebony Feather’s low voice boomed out to the head occupier as the spider continued to struggle within the tight grasp of his beak
The head occupier was simply too shocked to speak as Ebony Feather showed him the captured beast. It was at that point that you and Alissa decided to start sprinting up to the scene.
“Ebony Feather! You caught it!” you called out as you approached.
Alissa rushed to attempt to consolidate the traumatized occupier. “Ah, yeah, we probably should’ve told you earlier, but bugs like that thing tend to get into this town a lot, and, yeah, even into the houses. It’s just one of the quirks of living out here in this secluded area, ya know. Annoying, yes, but I mean what can you do?” she casually explained as Ebony Feather slowly maneuvered the wriggling spider towards the back of his beak.
“Yes, I deal with these kinds of situations a lot. Seen quite a lot of them in all my time here. From grasshoppers to scorpions to everything in between. Ah yes, it’s scary, but none of that will ever stand in the way of my firm dedication to this town.” he added before gulping down the creature in one go. This would have been all well and good, had he not forgotten about the plastic fang coverings, which had not yet been removed from the spider. It was almost less than a second after Ebony Feather swallowed that you realized this, sending an overwhelming jolt of adrenaline up your spine as you opened your mouth to scream.
“EBONY FEATHER!” you cry out in spur-of-the-moment panic. “EBONY FEATHER, OPEN YOUR BEAK!”
Sensing your sudden seriousness, Ebony Feather does as he’s told, and in the single second it takes for him to open his beak, your upper body has somehow already shoved itself straight into his maw. Ignoring the wetness, you’re forced to move your hand back towards his throat despite his ragged breathing and the occasional gagging sound. Showing your body even deeper into his maw, you shove your hand past the entrance of his throat and begin to push it down deeper. The constricting and squishy, squeezing nature of the throat muscles are more of a hindrance than a help as you continue to reach down. At last, your hand grasps onto something smooth and cold, yet a little hairy. Forcing yourself to push down your body’s compulsory revulsion to these creatures with a bit of a shudder, you attempt to sense which part of the creature’s body the fangs were on before it got pushed down far beyond your reach. Fortunately for you, the spider practically does that for you by attempting to bite down on your hand while it’s near its body, but the same plastic coverings you reached in here to retrieve save you from being sent to a hospital as you waste no time in grasping your hand over both fangs and pulling off the covering as fast as you possibly can, dragging your hand out of the tight, wet confines of Ebony Feather’s throat, forcing one last loud “CAW!” out of him as your saliva covered arm at last exits the throat, and your upper body falls out of his maw.
After taking a few seconds to contemplate what you had just done, you eventually raise the plastic coverings up a few inches in the air and wheeze out: “you...you almost swallowed these along with the spider.”
Ebony Feather is slightly shocked at first, but now that he understands your motives behind your sudden violation of his personal space, he seems to forgive you.
“Did I really? Well, I guess that we all make stupid decisions sometiems…” he murmurs to himself. “Thank you, by the way. I would have gotten very sick if you hadn’t brought those things out of me.”
“Yeah! If they didn’t get out, they probably would’ve caused an internal blockage, and then...yeah. I’m certainly not letting that happen! Not me!” you breathlessly respond, practically throwing the fang-coverings straight onto the ground in a bit of slight rage that they had forced you to do what you had just done.
It was then that you remembered what all this was for in the first place. “Wait a minute, where’s Alissa?”
Both you and Ebony Feather began to turn your heads around to find the location of the local Baker, as well as the other one who had just been here a few seconds earlier, the head occupier. To your surprise, you spot Alissa out of the corner of your vision helping the occupier get back to the police station.
You don’t really understand it at first, but eventually realize that it’s probably just her trying to get on his good side so he won’t suspect her of anything if he starts looking more into this situation.
Nonetheless, now that the operation was over, it was probably best for you to get back inside before anyone started asking you questions.
“Hey, thanks again Ebony Feather. Wouldn’t’ve been able to handle that spider without you. One of us probably would’ve gotten bitten. And thanks for getting up early just for this. I really can’t express how much I appreciate that.”
Ebony Feather blinks a few times before speaking. “Well, if it is for the best of my hometown, I shall do whatever it is that is needed. This place treated me well when I was just starting off as a deliverer, and now, I am paying that kindness back to the town.” he states with a bit of a head-bow.
You have to physically stop yourself from rolling your eyes. Sometimes you just can’t understand how Ebony Feather stayed so calm and collected all the time, and just why he worded his sentences like that. Nonetheless, you give him a respectful nod as you pick yourself up off the ground and begin walking home.
“Well, whatever you say, man. I’m going back home now. See ya later.”
“You as well.” Ebony Feather concludes before spreading his wings and taking off in another direction, presumably to the first postal station to pick up his first batch of mail.
You grit your teeth slightly now that Ebony Feather has left. “Stupid Ebony Feather. That Crow tries way too hard to be all professional and proper! Even after I just saved his goddamn life! Like, I make sure that he doesn’t die of an internal blockage, and he’s all like: “Ooh, we all make mistakes! Thank you!” Like, man!” you grumble to yourself as you make your way back home. Once you’re there, you grasp the doorknob rather tightly as you turn it and just can’t help but slam the door behind you as you storm your way inside.
The Story Of P.O.V.: Serving The Innocent
*Your short, sporadic breath almost drowns out the sounds of the active battlefield around you as you sprint across the lines of the advancing Tankman army, doing your best to dodge gigantic unaware boots of the soldiers above your tiny form and suppress your body’s screams to stop. You know you must keep going, or else you will never live to see your recovering hometown again. Your sudden thoughts about home begin to draw up tears into the wells of your eyes. You force your arm to move up and wipe them off as you continue sprinting. Then, at last, you spot something in the distance that may just allow you to take a break. There is a pile of debris close ahead that some soldiers are using as cover to safely fire behind. You pay no mind to them as you make one last-ditch bolt for the rubble. Finally, once your body has successfully made it behind the pile, you instantly collapse from sheer exhaustion and overexertion. You’ve finally found a relatively safe refuge in this unforgiving warzone. However, your arrival has not gone unnoticed.*
“Hmmmm? What the-” Steve, the well-known best friend of the Captain, suddenly takes notice of you and gently scoops you up. “What the hell? Guys! There’s a civilian here! How did that happen?” he quickly announces to the other soldiers with him before turning to speak directly to you. “I have no idea what circumstances lead to you ending up here, but you look frankly exhausted. Just how far did you have to run to get here? Why are you here? How are you here? What town are you from? Why-” he begins to barrage you with questions, none of which you are able to answer. All your body is able to do right now is gasp in and out for air as it tries to recover from your recent sprint.
*In all honesty, though, you were just glad Steve had realized you were an innocent civilian and not affiliated with the army your government put together in opposition to the tankmen. Both sides had been committing some rather noteworthy atrocities throughout the course of the war, and if Steve had mistaken you for one the soldiers, he might not have taken as kindly to you as he was now. Realizing you’re unable to answer his questions, Steve gives a sigh and stops asking them.*
“Alright, alright. I get it. You need time to breathe. Forget everything I just said. You don’t have to answer any of it. Some of those questions might be a bit touchy anyway. Still though, when this is all over, I’d be very interested to hear your story.” he at last concedes with a few short nods.
*You manage to give a weak smile in respect of how understanding Steve has been to you thus far. Unfortunately, this moment was not to last, as just a few seconds later, somebody screeched out: “INCOMING!” Steve was only given a couple seconds to duck before a relatively huge explosion went off. He was thus unable to secure you properly beforehand, leaving you to practically fly out of his glove and land scraping against the floor, shattering your left leg and tearing off a considerable amount of skin. Thankfully, the skin on your side and arm were more lucky and just got bruised. You are only able to hear faint screaming noises and Steve’s footsteps as he cries out for a medic. Your completely disoriented mind is unable to comprehend much as you feel someone inspecting your leg before...putting something on it? And then...wrapping something around it? You’re not entirely sure due to the precarious state of your consciousness, that which you have been barely able to hold onto. You swear you can hear Steve crying out something along the lines of: “I’M SO SORRY! I WASN’T ABLE TO HOLD ONTO YOU PROPERLY!” as your mind slowly returns from its current state of haziness. That being said, it still hurt a considerable amount. The painful throbbing makes you completely unable to lift up your head as Steve scoops you back up, mindful of your new cast, in his hands.*
“Hey, I’m not sure how much of that you heard back there, but I really am sorry, okay? The medic made you a little cast, I think that’ll help. But we need to put you somewhere where you can’t get hurt again. And I’m just not sure where the hell that could be in a place like this. I just-wait.” Steve is then silent for a few seconds. “I…... think I know. Oh god I hope I’m not just losing my mind here, but I think that……...” Steve begins to nervously explain before his voice trails off. “Look, I know it may sound like a weird idea, AND IT IS, BUT-” all of a sudden, sounds of close gunfire force Steve to shut up, and immediately shove you into his maw. “I KNOW! I KNOW! I SWEAR THOUGH, I WON’T HURT YOU! YOU’LL BE JUST FINE! I’LL RELEASE YOU WHEN WE’RE ALL SAFE, ALRIGHT?” he mumble-shouts to you the best he can with you inside his maw.
*Though you do have a single moment of temporarily instinctively freaking out, you swiftly calm yourself down by reasoning that Steve’s current behavior towards you does indeed show he’s being serious here, when he tells you he won’t hurt you. That, and, what he’s talking about does kind of seem to be a good place to go to be safe, so you decide to show you trust him by casually laying down flat on his large, white tongue. The warm, accumulating saliva doesn’t bother you that much, and your cast is waterproof enough to where it won’t seep through. You simply allow Steve to do his thing as his tongue, gently as it can, pushes you to the back of his maw towards his throat. You attempt to do your best to not move around as Steve swallows, so you may go down easier for him. The black muscles of the esophagus begin to push you on down towards the tummy as you suddenly begin to hear the sounds of a heartbeat, and then at last, the growling and rumbling noises of the stomach. You attempt to push down your instinctive fear of being burned by the stomach acid as you are shoved through the esophageal sphincter. Much to your reassurance, the black liquids inside the tummy don’t seem to hurt you at all, solidifying the truth in Steve’s statement of “not hurting you.”. Heaving out one gigantic sigh of relief, and with your trust in him fully established, you nestle yourself against Steve’s soft, white stomach walls and, for the first time in what feels like eternity since all this warfare began, you are finally able to feel truly relaxed. The warmth and aura of calmness within the tummy have already begun to slightly soothe your headache, and release tension in your cramped leg muscles, as well as the pain in your injured left leg. You want to be able to thank Steve, but since he is on an extremely noisy battlefield, where hearing verbal cues may mean the difference between life and death, and you are all safely tucked away in his tummy, you decide it would be best to thank him after he releases you. You attempt to fall asleep, but even now, all of the craziness that has happened today, and just in this year in general, simply overcrowds your mind with too many thoughts, memories, and emotions for you to be able to properly sleep, so instead, you just end up chilling out in Steve’s soft, warm tummy and listen to its low gurgling and groaning, as well as his baseline heartbeat for the duration of the battle.*
“Do you think that tiny will be alright?” One of Steve’s fellow soldiers asks him as he begins to aim at the enemy lines.
“Hmmm? The civilian I swallowed? It’s not like they’re going to be digested. They’ll be just fine!” Steve answers after firing off a few rounds. He then quickly lays a hand over his stomach and smiles. “Yeah, you hear that little buddy? I know it may be a difficult thing to understand after all you’ve been through, but you have to trust me here. You’re going to be just fine.”
The Story Of P.O.V.: Unlikely Allies (Putting the pred names in the title worked very well last time, so...Steve and Skittles preds.)
This is the last story before the season finale. Not the series finale, the season finale. The finale is going to be very long, so it might be split into two parts. Please give me time, as it’s going to take a very long time to finish, but don’t worry, I’ll figure out what to do in the meantime.
****
In the early afternoon of the very same day that our as of yet unrevealed protagonist was to embark on his mission to find and recruit Zardy, Sergeant John Captain, or as many others know him, “Tankman”, was on his own mission. A mission to keep himself awake.
The poor guy had been assigned night patrol deep into the heartland of lots of unclaimed territory, and hadn’t made it back to camp until three in the morning. As a result, Tankman was having an excessively difficult time keeping his eyes open as he sat silently with his head seemingly glued to his desk, simply waiting with a growing impatience for the coffee he had requested to arrive.
By the time some random private he didn’t know at all had finally been able to deliver it, Tankman had had at least four close calls with impending sleep, and let out a rather pained groan to let the private know that he knew the coffee was here.
Just as soon as the private had left, Tankman somehow managed to peel his face up off the desk, and up into a position where he could at last enjoy his coffee. He was just about ready to chug the entire thing down right there and then, before somewhere, somehow in the areas of his brain that were miraculously still functioning, he was reminded of Jeff.
Despite his fervent desire to get that caffeine into his bloodstream, he instead was forced to exercise restraint, and opted to get it down in small sips, as to not bother, or even possibly drown the one currently stashed away inside him.
As he shakily took another sip, Tankman was at last ready to check what his schedule was today. Most of the higher-ranking individuals of his army were given surprisingly durable and portable computers in order to get all the information they needed. Equally as surprising was the fact that despite the conditions of their warzone, the data towers that were recently set up for this exact thing seemed to be working rather well so far.
As soon as his emails were open, Tankman scrolled through his inbox for just long enough to be greeted with a message that almost immediately made him smack his head back onto his desk.
“To Sergeant John Captain,
We are assigning you back to the night patrol for tonight. This time, our efforts will be focused on one particular area where a party of Tinies were seen scouting earlier this week. This will be classified a stealth mission, so you will have to leave your prisoner in the hands of somebody else, as we do not yet trust him to not jeopardize any stealth mission we assign you to, intentional or not. Thank you for understanding.”
Tankman was forced to suppress the rapidly rising culmination of anger, fatigue, and just plain disbelief from the fact that he had to go on another night patrol. Yet, he simultaneously knew that it was indeed his duty to do so, so after a few seconds...okay no...after a few minutes, he was at last able to pull himself together again.
“Well, I guess that means I have to find somebody to look after Jeff tonight.” Tankman sat with his thoughts for two more seconds before shaking his head. “Oh, who am I kidding? I already damn well know who that somebody’s going to be.”
****
“What? What do you mean they don’t ‘Trust me to not jeopardize you?’” Jeff semi-aggressively asked his “captor” as soon as he was made aware of the situation.
“Look, I don’t make the rules! Get mad at the General, I guess, but don’t get mad at me!” Tankman responded with a sizable amount of irritation in his voice, as he too wasn’t too fond of parting, if but temporarily, with his recently “befriended” war prisoner as much as the prisoner himself was fond of parting with him.
Jeff was going to tap his foot on the floor a few times in grumpy disapproval, but the combination of the fact that the floor beneath him was rather squishy, and the fact the liquid around his lower half kind of impeded his leg movements kinda made that plan impossible as soon as Jeff tried to enact it. In the end, he settled for simply crossing his arms, and sitting down with a rather grumpy air inside Tankman’s tummy.
“Look, I’m going to go out of the tent now to find Steve, alright? I know this is all really sudden, but it’s only for one day, okay? We’ll get back to each other just as soon as is possible tomorrow.”
Despite his best attempts at maintaining his grumpiness, Jeff couldn't help but give a slight smile at the current situation of the usually rather rude, vulgar military man attempting to consolidate him. “So he does care!” Jeff happily thought to himself with a light giggle.
Now outside of the tent, Tankman began to casually look around for his good friend Steve. He had to make his way past several groups of rowdy privates hanging around the camp to do so, but eventually, he spots Steve standing outside near his own tent. By the look on his face, there seemed to be no thoughts going through his head. Tankman approached him slowly, so as not to startle him out of his daydreaming. By the time that Steve had taken notice of him, he took a second to clear his head before giving a small wave.
“Hey Captain! Finally got your coffee I see?”
Tankman let out a barely audible sigh from the fact that Steve could, indeed tell that the only reason he was even able to get up and be productive today was the copious amounts of caffeine coursing through his bloodstream.
“Yeah, coffee has gotten me through more than a few rough days after a long night patrol, I must admit. Ugh, even though it’s working, it almost feels like the second the caffeine runs out, I’m just going to up and collapse where I stand.”
“Do you need me to make sure you don’t hurt yourself when you fall?”
“Huh? Oh, well, actually, I was just about to go check what the rest of the day’s schedule was going to be so that I can plan to take a nap somewhere in that time frame. I came to see you because...I’m getting assigned night patrol again.”
Steve’s “eyes” widened slightly. “Really? Again?”
Tankman responded to the private’s question with what could only be described as a half-mumble, half-discernible spoken word of “Yeah.” After a few seconds of wallowing in his own pitiful frustration at the situation, he managed to shake it off and continue. “But...anyways, they’re classifying it as a sneak mission for this one, meaning we can’t bring along anything...or anyone...that may run us the risk of detection.”
“Oh, so...did you come here to drop off your large walkie-talkie?”
Tankman suddenly felt the urge to pat his back pocket to check that he did, in fact put the walkie talkie away in his own tent before continuing. “Okay good I put it away...uh no.” he mumbled to himself before turning back to Steve. “I came here to drop off...him.”
Steve raised an eyebrow in confusion for a second before Tankman pointed down to his abdomen. It was then that Steve understood. “Oh...so you’re saying that they’re not allowing you to bring him along for this one. Okay. Yeah I can look after him for today. Don’t have much on my schedule right now, so...yeah. You can just bring him up now I guess.”
Tankman gave Steve a hefty thankful nod before giving a few hacking sounds. Steve could visibly see the bulge rising back up in his Captain’s throat before Jeff was spat back up onto his glove.
Jeff seemed to be rather wide awake, meaning he had heard that entire conversation the two tankmen had had. Steve couldn’t help but wonder why the normally rather talkative Rat-Man was acting uncharacteristically silent, but he simply brushed it off as him being a little irritated from having to leave Tankman for now.
Jeff gave a sigh of his own before giving his head a shake. Partially to clear his mind of his frustrations, and partially to get all of the saliva that had dripped onto it off.
Tankman extended his hand towards Steve. Steve reached his out in return, prompting Jeff to scurry off of the one he was on right now and onto the other. Steve promptly placed Jeff on his left shoulder with a nod.
“So uh...does this mean that he’s going to have to get down into my stomach for a while?” he asked rather awkwardly, as though he wasn’t normally grossed out by things like this, Jeff was still covered with the Captain's tummy juices after all, and there was no way Steve was going to put something like that in his mouth.
Sensing Steve’s concern, Tankman gave a quick head shake. “Ah, well, you don’t have to do it right now I guess...maybe just...wait till he’s dry. I mean, that won’t take very long, since, ya know, desert and all, but still.”
“Alright.” Steve responded with a swift nod. He extended out a fist to offer a fist bump before the two Tankmen parted ways for now. Tankman rolled his eyes at first, but eventually managed to give Steve a fist bump.
“Alright, that’s it then.” Tankman said with a small sigh after completing the fist bump. “I uh...I’ll see you later I guess. God I really need a nap....”
Tankman gradually turned around to go back to his own tent. Though he couldn’t see it, Steve was giving him a goodbye wave with a warm smile as he left. If he had known, he would’ve given a small wave back in return.
****
Once Steve had gotten back to his tent, it became pretty obvious that the small private was rather bored with the lack of things he had to do today. He spent a few minutes just pacing aimlessly around the room before sitting down on his bed and thinking for a while. As he does this, Jeff has, for the most part, finished drying off.
At last, Steve leans forward a bit and shrugs his shoulders. “Yeah, I guess after I get my basic chore work done for today, I’ll just head off to the bar.”
Jeff tilts his head slightly in confusion. “Bar? You guys have bars around these parts?”
Steve pauses for a second before tilting his head down to create eye-contact between the two of you. “Well, okay, I guess they’re not really ‘bars’ as much as ‘Tents where they serve alcohol’, but yeah, basically.”
Jeff nods slightly. “Ah, well, I guess that makes sense.”
“And so...I guess I’ll just go do the things. Uh, you’ll need to be with me of course, since, ya know, we can’t really leave somebody like you unattended, so…” Steve extends his glove to you, seemingly implying what the both of you were thinking. Jeff slowly calmmor onto the glove before Steve lifts him up to eye-level. He gives a small sigh before continuing.
“Okay, I guess we’re doing this then.” he says with only slight hesitation in his voice before he brings Jeff closer to his mouth and opens it up just enough for him to make his way inside.
Steve lets out one more casual sigh, that which brushes a warm front of air onto Jeff’s face. Sensing Steve’s wariness of the situation, he decides to help him out and starts crawling forward on his soft, squishy, slick tongue. Steve tries his best to not involuntarily push him back to where he started as he slides along. Steve eventually realizes that this would be a lot easier for the both of you if he opened his maw wider. Jeff is thus able to move faster and lifts his body up a little more without worrying about scraping the rough ridges at the roof of Steve’s mouth. Despite his current position, Jeff can’t help but feel just a little calmed down within the slick warmth of Steve’s maw. It had an oddly soothing aura around it that his Captain’s maw didn’t really seem to have. He was about to lay his face down so he could have a moment to take it in, until Steve at last realizes he’s stopped moving and pushes him the rest of the way until he’s left gazing down his throat, the saliva on the tongue getting Jeff considerably wet once more, after having just dried off.
Jeff senses Steve's throat muscles tightening in preparation to swallow, but he seems quite hesitant, and is having a lot of trouble actually doing so. Shaking his head and realizing that Steve isn’t going to get this done without help, Jeff proceeds to carefully stick his head down there himself. Steve’s throat muscles tighten up even further, but after taking in a few deep breaths, he is at last able to practically force himself to swallow.
“Good job, Steve! Now your body can do the rest!” Jeff calls out to the private as he continues to get pushed down his throat. Steve was obviously unable to see it, but Jeff was giving him a thumbs up from within his own throat. As he was a bit flustered at first, Steve attempted to get the forced straining that had come from the previous swallow out of his throat with a few more. These motions end up pushing Jeff down farther as he went, allowing him to start sensing a heartbeat faster than would normally happen.
At last, Jeff’s ear perked up as faint rumbling noises began to grow nearer. He nods his head and prepares himself for the fall. As his body was squeezed out of the throat, he at last took the plunge deep down into the blackish, if harmless watery substance within the guts of the tankmen. Jeff had no idea why the liquid was colored like that, much less why it didn’t hurt him, but he decided that thinking about it wasn’t going to do him any good, and began to rub the juices off his face a little.
Jeff could not help but shake the feeling of this area being a bit familiar , though he knew he had never been here before. “Makes sense I guess, I mean, all the insides of a certain species will look almost the same.” he reasoned to himself. There is basically nothing left for the two of you to do now that this has gotten done and over with. With a nonchalant sigh and a bit of an air of boredom, Jeff pluks himself down against the soft walls and does his best to relax. At least the natural white noise of tummy rumbling and the heartbeat were something rather than nothing. The small pulsing movements of the squishy walls around Jeff's body helped massage it into a less tense state, aiding in this respect as well.
On the outside, Steve still can’t help but feel a little odd about the sensation of having a living being stored inside of him, even though he had done it before. Trying not to fixate on it too much, he simply walks out the door to begin his day.
****
“...so in conclusion, all cheese is amazing in its own right and there is no objective way to decide which one is ‘better’ than the other because at the end of the day, it’s just a matter of preference.” Jeff concluded his long ramblings about cheese as Steve made his way over to the bar-tent near the base.
“Is this what Captain has to deal with every day?” Steve asks in a tone that could only be read as an implication that he was getting pretty tired of putting up with all the chatting.
“Well, I mean it’s not like there’s much you can do when you’re stuck at a camp like this. Can’t even get involved in the action. But yeah, I’ll strike up conversations once in a while. Captain...you called him...isn’t always in the mood for them, but when he is, it’s a good time.”
After his last sentence, Jeff waited a few seconds for Steve to respond, only to be met with silence. He was rather confused at first, until he began to realize that the distant murmurs coming from the crowd in the bar were distant no longer.
Steve walks up to the bar counter and begins to look around. At last, he spots him. “Ah, Private Skittles! There you are! I just knew you’d be here around this time! What’s up?”
Jeff had to double back to make sure that he had just heard that correctly. “Wait wait wait wait wait, what? Private Skittles? Isn’t he in the opposing army?”
“Huh? Who’s that?” an already inebriated voice called back to Jeff. It was kind of hard to believe at first, but he just simply couldn’t deny the fact that that was indeed, the voice of Private Skittles.
“Steve, did you hear me? I know that wasn’t you. Who was speaking just then?”
Steve, who was only just starting to realize all of the awkward explaining he was going to have to do, put a hand to his forehead. “Oh boy” he whispered to himself under his breath. “Um...just wait a second, Skittles, while I...uh...just hold on, okay?”
As Skittles had no reason not to wait, he gave a weak shoulder shrug and lay his head down on the countertop table.
Steve promptly turned around and did his very best to not make any audible gagging noises as Jeff was brought up from below. It took a considerable amount of self-control, but he was eventually able to do it. Brushing the wet Rat-Man off a few times to minimize the amount of saliva that was visible on him, Steve eventually turned back around to Skittles.
Jeff, now that he was seeing him face-to-face, had absolutely no room for doubt. This was indeed the same Private Skittles, who had previously killed Bill. He was wearing his casual clothes rather than his uniform.
Jeff pointed a confused finger and glanced up at Steve.
“He’s allowed to be here?”
Steve took a few seconds to gather his thoughts while slightly biting down on his lip. Then at last, he spoke.
“Okay, so..I’m sure that you already know Private Skittles.”
“Of course I do, but why is he here? Didn’t he-”
“Well, yes, we were on opposing sides, but..well that was many years ago, and now that the Tinies are posing a threat, we have a common enemy between us, so...our generals formed an alliance.”
Jeff was about to raise a finger in objection, but promptly put it back down again upon further thought. As it did indeed make sense.
It was at this point that the moderately drunk Skittles took his head back off the countertop and at last made eye-contact with Jeff.
“Oh, so that’s who was talking. No wonder I couldn’t see him. He’s a Tiny. Where did he come from? Is he on our side?”
“Well he was taken as a war prisoner by Captain. He usually looks after him, but today, I’m taking that role. And, well, I guess not. He’s still...for his own army. His name’s Jeff, by the way.”
Jeff suddenly relapsed from slightly panicked confusion. “But that’s not-” he immediately interjected before cutting himself off.
Steve glanced back down at him. “Yeah?”
Jeff held the silence for a few seconds before eventually breaking it. “...nevermind.” “Shit did his Captain not tell him that I’m with them? Did he just forget, or...no, it’s only been like, three to four days since that...that’s not that long. Dammit that means I have to tell him myself! And this guy too! Fuck!”
Through his internal ramblings, Jeff could hardly tell that he had been placed upon the countertop by Steve, who had turned his attention to somebody coming from the other side of the countertop.
A simple: “Hi, can I get you anything?” eventually brought him out of it. It was the bartender, of course.
“Yeah, can I get a refill?” Skittles managed to articulate to the bartender.
“Um...I’ll get what he’s getting.” Steve answered in indecisiveness.
“Alright, what about you, little guy?” The bartender suddenly crouched down slightly in order to be eye-level with the countertop.
“Oh, uh...me?” Jeff suddenly blurted out. The bartender gave a firm nod in response.
“Well, I guess just a little bit will help me get the confidence to tell these guys. And I mean having multiple high-influence members of the army backing me never hurts. Yeah…..alright, let’s do it.”
“Yeah, I’ll just have a shot. Um, a shot for my size I mean.”
“Alright then, just sit tight and I’ll be back in a minute.” The bartender declared before walking off to get the drinks.
****
“...no! I’m serious! I swear I saw the trash can lid open all by itself!” Skittles cried out in a slightly desperate assertion of his experience.
“Dude, I’m not going to explain this again. What's more likely? You were a little more drunk than you realised, or something which has never been reliably attested to and defies all known laws of physics happened? You tell me, buddy.” Jeff snapped back with a quip.
“I told you already! I didn’t drink that night! And it wasn’t the wind either! It. Levitated. Off. The. Can!” Skittles refused to back down.
“Yeah, keep telling yourself that, buddy.” Steve added in after having taken a swig.
The two Tankmen and one Rat-Man weren’t completely plastered yet. They were just sober enough to be able to sort-of rationalize through decisions, and were still able to remember what they were doing. But Jeff knew it wouldn’t be long before those abilities were drowned out completely, and now that he had his shot, he finally decided to take his shot. He quickly glanced around to make sure nobody was watching before speaking.
“So uh…” he awkwardly began, immediately catching his two acquaintances' attention. “Y’all wanna hear something crazy?”
“Sure!” Steve gleefully responded, completely unaware of what was to come next.
“I don’t think uh, Captain, ever told this about me, did he?”
“Tell what about you? You’re being too vague.” Skittles piped in, barely able to keep from slurring his words.
“I uh...Steve, you said I was still on the side of my army, right?”
It was right then and there that Steve sensed that something was up. With a raised eyebrow, he let out a stern: “What?”
Jeff immediately began panicking and scrambled to force out his next words before he chickened out.
“BUT THAT WASN’T TRUE! I’M ACTUALLY FOR YOU GUYS!”
An extremely awkward silence stung the air as everyone stood completely dumbfounded at the knowledge bomb that had just been dropped. At last, Steve’s muscles visibly tensed.
“YOU COULDN’T TELL ME THIS UNTIL JUST NOW?”
“I DIDN’T HAVE THE CONFIDENCE UNTIL JUST NOW!” Jeff squeaked back in defense.
Steve smacked his head on the bar table top and let out a humongous groan. “Why………..”
Skittles, on the other hand, was having a completely different reaction than Steve. “Oh, so you’re not our enemy? Cool.”
“Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah!” Steve immediately raised a hand in objection. “You can’t just tell us that and expect me, at least to believe you! Prove it!”
Jeff crossed his arms in an almost smug manner. “Ah, so that’s what you needed? Proof, huh? Very well then!” Jeff proceeded to clear his throat. “The ‘secret’ home address of the Secretary Of Defence is 45691 Founders’ street! He lives and sleeps there, and if for whatever reason you ever wanted to catch him off-guard away from the guards, then, well, there you go!” he proudly announced, making sure that the only two people who could hear him were the ones in front of him.
As soon as he got that information, Steve immediately rushed to scribble it down on a napkin before he forgot. “...Founder's street! Okay! Got it!”
Suddenly, Skittles chimed in. “Wait, I wasn’t paying attention. Who lives on Founders’ street?”
Jeff and Steve were initially about to tell him, but then stopped themselves.
“It’s probably better he doesn't know.” Jeff reasoned to himself as Steve stuffed the napkin into his pocket.
Steve then waited until Skittles started starting out into space in the other direction before leaning in to speak to Jeff more privately. “Pst. Hey, Jeff, was that true?”
Jeff was initially surprised to see a relative giant attempting to whisper to him, but managed to shake it off. “Oh, yeah! It’s true alright! Go ahead and tell the General, I don’t mind!”
Steve closed his eyes and let out the tiniest sigh Jeff had ever seen in his life. “Okay. I see. Hey, I’m sorry for getting riled up back there, but really, thank you, Jeff. This information is going to prove invaluable later on.”
Jeff couldn't help but give a finger gun in response. “Ey no problem buddy! You wanted proof, there’s your proof!”
Now that he had that enormous weight off his chest, Jeff was feeling a lot more sociable and ready to get down. That was when he spotted the bartender approaching from his peripheral vision.
“Say why don’t we order a few more, huh?”
****
It had been a good few hours since Jeff at last revealed his true allegiance, and at this point, the three people hanging out together under the tent were definitely, one hundred percent smashed. All three of them. Jeff was barely able to tell what was going on as he let out another laugh at a joke that may or may not have even been spoken in the first place. There was so much noise and movement happening around him he could barely even tell where his two drinking buddies were anymore. He also started to feel rather nauseous and dizzy, to the point that he was having difficulty telling where he was moving around to. At this point, it would only take one misstep or misunderstanding to cause a catastrophe.
All of a sudden, a large clunking sound could be heard from above, and Jeff had but a single moment where all of his instincts perked up at once and a jolt of anxiety rushed its way up Jeff’s spine. Though he never was actually hit by whatever had fallen, he suddenly unexpectedly felt something flowing underneath his feet. Upon further inspection, it seemed to be some sort of brownish sticky stream of...some kind of liquid. Not being able to rationalize through what it was exactly, Jeff’s body prepared to book it out of there in the only way he knew how: running forward. Though he was already extremely dizzy, and the world around him was rather violently swirling and swishing about around him, he hadn't yet felt any physical spatial displacement until right now.
He suddenly felt himself being launched up into the air for a few terrifying seconds only to splash back down into the same brownish liquid that had been flowing underneath his feet just a minute ago. Then, whatever space he was in seemingly elevated, and Jeff’s world was flipped upside down once more. Literally.
He could barely tell which way was up and which way was down as he slid down the slick walls of whatever it was he was in, and for only a split second, was able to get a glimpse of a face before plummeting down into a new area, that which was white, soft, and squishy. Had Jeff been able to process what he had just seen, he would’ve recognized the face as belonging to Skittles.
But Jeff wasn't worried about who it was that he saw at the moment. Currently, he was more focused on avoiding the torrential flow pushing him farther and farther back into the wet, warm confines of what a sober Jeff would’ve easily recognised as a maw. All of a sudden, the floor beneath him swiftly moved to the left, causing Jeff to completely topple over and get swept up in the flow. His entire world was spinning out of control in a combination of color and noise. He had absolutely no idea what was happening to him, as his brain was too inebriated to be able to properly assess the situation. He swiftly caught sight of something dangling before the large drop that the stream was pushing him towards, and desperately grasped and clung onto it as he attempted to get his footing again.
However, this plan almost immediately backfired as a gigantic wave of liquid, much worse than any previous trickling of the stream, was unleashed upon him, seemingly in an attempt to get him to let go. It worked. Jeff was forced by the torrent to release his grip as the slick, tight walls around the drop shoved him down.
Jeff violently struggled within his current confies, barely able to move his limbs. He squeaked and scuffled all the way down, yet it was all in vain. Jeff suddenly heard a lot more noise being picked up. They were the kinds of noises that echoed around his current area, and had a low tone to them, mainly being vibrations and rumbles. There was also one particularly low one that almost seemed to throb around the walls as they continued to force him downwards.
Then at last, Jeff was squeezed out into a much more spacious area, one with a lot more of whatever brownish liquid had been following him down in it. Whatever it was that he was in was seemingly preoccupied as the liquids sloshed around inside, seemingly being mixed up for something. Jeff would’ve freaked out, if he hadn’t realized but a mere second later that he himself wasn’t being hurt.
Jeff was about to breathe a sigh of relief, until a bunch more of that same liquid came pouring down, upon him positively dousing himself in it. Thus instead, Jeff let out an annoyed groan. It was at this point that Jeff was too tired from all the struggling he had put up to stay awake anymore. He was, after all, completely smashed. Picking a spot on the smooth walls on which to lay against, it didn’t take long at all for the drunk Rat-Man to have at last drifted off.

“See? I told you I could chug all of that!” Skittles exclaimed triumphantly. “Now where’s my ten dollars?”
Steve, who was not exactly stoked at the results of his bet, begrudgingly reached into his pocket, pulled out a ten dollar bill, and placed it in Skittles’ hand.
“Yeah-heah, boi, I knew I could do it!” Skittles continued to ramble. “So awesome! Jeff, did you see that?”
Private Skittles casually glanced down, expecting to see the encouraging face of the Rat-Man staring back. Instead, he got nothing. ‘Huh? Jeff?” Skittles called out, having no idea where his little buddy had gone to.
It was then that Private Steve’s attention was captured. “Wait….WHERE THE FUCK IS JEFF?” he cried out in sheer panic as he began frantically looking around for any sign of the friendly war prisoner.
Having thoroughly checked the countertop, (well, as thoroughly as any drunk can), Steve proceeded to check underneath his stool, the action of which nearly caused him to tumble off, had Private Skittles not rushed in to save him.
“Ungh...thanks Skittles…” Steve managed to force out in a bit of a slurred sentence.
All of a sudden, now that Steve’s eyes had drifted from Skittles’ face to his middle, a light bulb slowly sparked in Steve’s head as a hunch began to form within it. Without thinking to ask first, Steve, slowly and cautiously as he could, put the side of his head onto Skittles’ stomach. Skittles was kinda taken aback for a few seconds, but was just too drunk to object.
Steve could only hear the normal grumbling and groaning that all stomachs made at first, until he at last detected something a bit more subtle. Straining his ears, Steve could swear he could hear the faint breathing of something else within Skittles’ stomach. With a confident nod, Steve brought himself back up from the semi-awkward position he had put himself in.
“Alright, I know where he is now. We don’t need to freak out. I can get him back in the morning.”
Skittles had no idea what to make of Steve’s semi-cryptic statement. “What the fuck do you mean? You just looked around and under the countertop and then laid yourself on me. How the fuck do you kow where he is?”
Steve gave a teasing eye roll at Skittles. “Oh, don’t you worry about it, Skittles. I know where he is, and I know he’s just fine. That’s what matters.”
Skittles still had no idea what any of that meant, so he just decided to take Steve’s word with a shrug. “Well alright then.” he at last responded before his body half-leaned, half-crashed onto the countertop, where the inebriated Private couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.
Watching this happen, Steve gave a contented nod. “Good. Now I know he won't just get up and walk out on me sometime in the night. We’ll wake up in the morning, and I’ll retrieve Jeff then.”
Steve glanced back down at Skittles’ tummy. “Yeah, that’ll be the plan.”
