I think the thing that has been the biggest friction with recent Fallen London writing is the quality control. not just the typos and grammar issues but it also just feels like there's a lack of oversite in writing overall.

Things like connecting different parts of a story chapter, differentiating different characters dialogue, and making the player understand and feel engaged, theyre all pretty important. It makes sense that these issues sprung up, since I don't think they ever replaced their creative lead, and their narrative director isnt working on fallen london right now.

Sign posting issues that we're always a probelm have become more exacerbated, and the issues of telling and not showing. and the general disconnect of things no longer being... well, London, leads to a lot of the disatisifed feelings a lot of folks have been having lately.

Failbetter themself has called the game an unruly creature after all these years, and I can't imagine its easy. Maybe this is the natural state of something going on for so long - bound to get tangled around itself.

just as ive been playing other games lately its become more aparent to me of whats not been hitting with the user experiences. The older stories, while they had their faults, fit together in a certain way with oversight, and I feel like thats what the difference is.

Weird and complicated question strangely because Purpled is both distrustful of specifically rich white guys and also distrustful of rich people in general and also distrustful of specifically Tommy/his family and no one else
