There is a maddening tradition here that families put up their Christmas tree after watching the [National Pharmacies] Christmas Pageant at the beginning of November. No thought of Advent or anything, Christmas has begun.
Worst of all the Pageant culminates with the arrival of Santa at the Magic Cave in David Jones department store. Let the shopping fucking commence!
It is cute that kids are allowed to draw in chalk all over the closed roads while they wait for the fun to start, to be admired for the next while, otherwise I hate it all SO MUCH!
