snakes really make you appreciate how gross mammals really are. squamates are very dry and clean
a bird is a kind of reptile that has learned to be yucky.
My sister has the world's cutest hand- raised chicken. As a chick she was carried around in her pocket and all grown up she still remembers, sticks her head in there whenever they have a cuddle ❤️

My sister sent me this
At least I don't dream of smoking
A couple of perfume samples came in and I hate them both. I was influenced into trying Issey Miyaki L'eau D'issey. Any of these "fresh", "aquatic" perfumes all smell the same to me, i.e. like a very cheap copy of I think an Anna Sui I had in 2004. They smell like face wash, like the products in someone else's bathroom.
Then Guerlain Nahema which I had such high hopes for and it is about the only perfume I've ever had which gives me a genuine nauseous headache. It's supposed to smell like all these different roses and all I have on my skin is a sickly sickly peach! I wore it for the day and I guess a powdery smell gradually emerged? What a let- down.
Because that's what I want to smell like: a rose. Not a jam rose, a rose flower. I've been on a wave of incensey perfumes which somehow make me feel like I'm wearing a costume. I love myrrh and sandalwood, but I suppose they're for my home not my body. I went through a full bottle of Cacharel LouLou, which was great and got complements except in some weathers I get a definite plastic smell, which is bothersome wafting from one's own cleavage. So I'm between perfumes.
All I want is a nice rose which lasts, not too sweet, not aquatic rose or some weird interpretation where they're trying to deny rose is a star all on its own. I hurt myself by smelling Amouage Rose Incense in a department store once, a perfect middle ground of my favourites and I thought it was the most wonderful thing I'd ever smelled, but I had to skedaddle when I realised it was $500 a bottle! Where is the rose for me?

Canadians, on May 9 at 12:30 I'm speaking at the Point Pelee Festival of the Birds. It's a free talk included with park admission. Come say hi.
All the beautiful vivid nicotine patch dreams finally led to a horrible one. Holding together a dismembered turtle which was somehow still alive by virtue of a few connected bits of intestine. At last I realised all the pieces weren't there and before I could do anything about it some man from the council took it away to be buried alive. Then the front of my upper jaw was broken and I was trying to hold that together with bits of gauze but I'd choke on my own teeth and I woke up to anxiously check my front teeth were indeed in place and I'd suffered no worse damage than a very dry mouth from sleeping with it open :(
You can tell we're getting into the desperate months of zucchini excess by the way the New York times just sent out a list of 107 zucchini recipes.
#I must locate the list of 107 zucchini recipes#I'm not even growing zucchini this year I just like it lol YOU ARE IN LUCK (assuming you're able to read these)!
Zucchini is summer's gift. Embrace it with simple grilled zucchini, crunchy fried zucchini, ever-popular zucchini bread and all the options
Apparently this is just the best zucchini recipes. They aren't even including their bad and mediocre options.
Oh thank god
RIP Sam Neill. He was part of my childhood as Alan in Jurassic Park but what I'll always remember him for is this story from Event Horizon:
“All of the crew has a flag on part of their uniform that indicated their origins, but they asked me what the Australian flag would look like in 50 years’ time. “My response was there would be no way that a Union Jack would still be on that flag. That is because I was certain it would be a republic by that time. “Second, it seemed to me that Australians would have sufficient generosity and common sense to replace that Union Jack with an acknowledgement of Indigenous settlement (Always was, always will be) for at least 60,000 years. “Both of these issues led me to be wearing a flag that looks the way it is - and it pleases me that I insisted on that."
Came home yesterday to a bee buzzing around inside my entryway. Blessed messenger, something good is coming.
Ahhhh, nothing quite like introducing an American to the Northern Territory’s “C U in the N T” tourism marketing campaign and watching their face engage in a slapdash performance of every emotion known to man in the span of about three seconds
This is a sample for those not familiar:
70cm and counting
This thing is dominating my life. I completely wrecked my sleep schedule last week on the mesmerising stitch... Aiming for about two metres because I loath the colour of the carpets in this house!
I did go to my local NAIDOC event, "It's 8° but we're still deadly!" Even made some new friends :)
