Tarot Breakdown: My Magic Prophecy EP 3

This week's EP title card is...

The Fool!

The Fool is actually the first card in the tarot deck. Major Arcana cards are given numbers and The Fool is 0.

The Fool: leap of faith, new beginnings, innocence, spontaneous, naivety

The card makes sense for this ep as it is the start of Thap and In's actual relationship. Most of the first two episodes were these two butting heads so we now are getting a start of sweetness. It is also the start of them figuring out how to not trigger each other's triggers by accidentally stumbling into them, mostly Thap in this case. Pretty simple explanation for this week but what is not as simple...

This fucking thing. During the episode In does a Celtic Cross spread which again shows the people behind the scenes know tarot. But unfortunately for me, they didn't get a good shot of what the cards actually are 😭 I have zoomed in and strained my eyes and I was actually able to see a few of these cards so I'll explain what the Celtic Cross is while explaining what cards I could see. Below is a diagram of the spread.

(If later in the series the cards are revealed that I don't know I'll reblog this with full explanations of the cards) I do not know what question that In was asking for this spread but I'm going to see if it makes any sense in regards to what we already know.

1: The Present Situation/The Querant: Wheel of Fortune: This is the title of the first episode and means new cycle, turning of fate, new beginnings.

2: The Problem/Issue: King of Pentacles: This was the card that represented Thap in his reading but that doesn't mean necessarily that this is true here. The King of Pentacles means grounded, money based, abundance, a person who focused on success.

3. The Past: I unfortunately cannot tell what this card is. Hopefully in future episodes it will be revealed.

4. The Future: 6 of Cups: This card means generosity and random acts of kindness.

5. Conscious: The Fool: The title card for the episode! Again new beginnings and naivety.

6: Unconscious: 3 of Cups: Friendship, people in your life you can rely on, fun times.

7: Your Influence: The Tower: sudden change, upheaval of structure, tough beginnings

8: External Influence: Judgement: The title card for the second episode! Renewal, awakening, choices, judgement from others or yourself.

9: Hopes and Fears: I unfortunately can't tell what this card is either. :(

10: Outcome: 10 of Swords: Betrayal, painful endings, crisis, strife.

So what does this all mean? Sadly I wasn't able to figure out two cards but I think I can get the gist of what is being shown here to In.

This most likely is about In's current situation. He is shaken by the change in his routine with the doctor being in his childhood home. But it seems that Thap will take care of him with the little things like cooking and cleaning. He knows that this is the beginning of something but unsure of what. He unknowingly is enjoying the company and good times he has with Thap. The danger Thap is in is fueling this change in his life. In is feeling judged by Thap with his disbelief in his gifts. The cards are warning for a betrayal if In continues to help Thap.

Overall a pretty accurate representation of what is going on in the show and using mostly cards we have already seen. I wonder if the creators knew someone would take the time to look into this 😅 Either way, I'm excited for the next episode!

I thought I’d share some key information about tarot and its potential meaning in a reading. If anything doesn’t make sense or you want more information, drop me a message.

Aces: Aces wherever they are found signify new beginnings and a new leaf turned over. If reversed, this can mean that you are unable or feel unable to create this new beginning. Often cards in the rest of the reading can indicate what may be causing this block.

Celtic Cross: A popular tarot card spread. The Celtic Cross spread contains ten cards that represent the current state of affairs and the future. This allows you a deeper look into the influences of your life and possible solutions going forward.

F: These are Kings, Queens, Pages and Knights. They usually represent a person in the askers life or how a certain person has influenced the situation.

Elements: Like with Astrology, an association is often found within the suits and a specific element.,Swords and Air, Cups and Water, Wands Fire and Pentacles Earth. This is often when referring to a person the Suit it is in can express what energy or Astrological placements they have. Ex: Two of Pentacles may represent a person with heavy Earth in their chart or merely issues of an Earth nature such as sacrifice, security, work.

Major/Minor Arcana: The term Arcana relates to something hidden or secret. The Major Arcana consists of 22 cards that are symbols. They tend to have a more broad and wider meaning, as well as often showing a lesson or theme of some kind. The Minor consists of 56 cards that include the Court Cards (see above) and Aces )”(see above) as well as 2-10 of that particular suit. There are four suits Pentacles, Cups, Swords and Wands. The message is variable and can often be taken in different ways, depending on other cards indication in a reading.

Have you ever stopped to consider the meaning of the letters on Smith’s Wheel of Fortune? Perhaps you have read the letters from the top going clockwise - spelling out the word TARO or TAROT. Perhaps you have begun reading from the bottom and seen the word ROTA - Latin for Wheel. As a matter of fact, depending on which letter you begin with, many mystical words can be found

ORAT - A latin phrase that means "to speak"

TORA - the Torah, which means "The Law of God" or "Divine Law"

ATOR - an abbreviation of the name of the Egyptian mother goddess of love and creation, Hathor.

Taken all together, I translate the hidden meaning of the wheel of fortune as

"The Tarot’s Wheel speaks the Law of Love" or "The Wheel of the Tarot speaks the Laws of the Goddess."

Here are a few associations of this card:

In astrological timing, this card represents the 2nd decan of Virgo.

The planet associated with this card is Venus.

In numerology, Nine is a number which represents completion as it is the last of the single-digit numbers. Also, of the single-digit numbers, it possesses the highest value, and hence can be associated with prosperity. Symbolically speaking, the number Nine is a representation of a pinnacle of wisdom and experience, and the energy surrounding it ties in with ending and new beginnings - the excitement, curiosity, nervousness, and dread that comes with.

The Suit of Pentacles is ruled by the element of Earth. Earth represents aspects of life such as material wealth (money and finances), resources, health, commitment, and security. The overall energy of this element is quite practical and realistic. When this Suit shows up we may expect to learn about what may be coming to us in the long-term future.

And so, if we combine these two concepts together - the numerological association, and the elemental meaning - we discover that ultimately the Nine of Pentacles card signifies that a person is coming into a good position in life - one in which they are finally able to reap the fruits of their labour. They are being rewarded for their persistence and determination with luxuries - be that monetary, or otherwise. Maybe they finally realise that they are a bad b*tch who doesn't need another person in their life in order to feel whole. They are self-sufficient and happy with their life.

Perhaps there may be a new career opportunity awaiting them? Or a pay rise at work? Maybe their love life is looking up, a break up means that they can look for another person who truly deserves them this time. This card points towards a feeling of safety in a person's life.

However, if reversed, this card may point towards some not-so-pleasant aspects of one's life.

If reversed, the Nine of Pentacles becomes a warning sign which may be felt like a hard slap to the face - it's a call for the person to regain their senses and snap out of whatever it is they think they're doing. It can represent reckless spending, a false sense of security, spending money they do not have (think Anna Delvey in the Netflix show "Inventing Anna"), and false success. The lack of awareness that a person's habits is actively harming them. It may be the realisation that money cannot always guarantee happiness - you cannot fill the gaping hole in your heart with material possessions. This card may signify the awful feeling when you think that all of your previous achievements were for nothing. Just as you were about to reap the rewards the rug was pulled from under your feet and all was lost. The loss of security. The loss of stability. Being unable to provide for yourself and having to rely on others.

Tarot 101

This post is for those who don't want to deep dive into how tarot works but want a broad understanding. (Inspired by the BL show My Magical Prophecy and explaining that tarot)

Question 1: What even is tarot?

Answer: Tarot is a way of divination using a deck of 78 cards that has 22 cards representing more broad themes called the Major Arcana and 4 suits with 14 cards per suit that represents more small and specific themes called the Minor Arcana.

The suits for the Minor Arcana are Wands, Swords, Cups, and Pentacles. Wands represent fire, Swords air, Cups water, and Pentacles earth. Each suit has an Ace, 2-10, Page, Knight, Queen, and King. Certain decks will change these up but this is the most common.

Question 2: How do you use the cards?

Answer: There is no "correct way" to use the cards but there are ways that are more popular to do so. The most basic way to use them is to shuffle the cards and then pick out however many cards you want and see what the cards mean to you. Tarot readers all use different methods to shuffle and pick cards for themselves or others. If you want to do this yourself, try different ways and see what works best for you.

Most tarot readers use what is called tarot spreads. Basically, it is the way that you lay out the cards. Depending on the spread used, the different locations that the cards are placed affect how the meaning of the card is read. The most common example is a past, present, and future spread. The first card pulled is about the past, the second the present, and the third is the future.

When someone is reading the tarot spreads, they combine the location of the cards and the meanings of the cards together. Some readers will use the imagery on the cards to gain insight. Some readers will use the reverse meaning if the card is in reverse. This is where intuition plays a part in figuring out what meaning of the cards is most accurate for the query given.

Question 3: What about the spiritual aspect of tarot?

Answer: I have noticed many people being confused or scared about tarot. This part is to clear up some of that. Tarot is not something to be scared of. When you read your future using tarot, what you are seeing is only a possibility of the future. You always have the power to change your path. Tarot is more often used to gain insight to your inner self and to point out hidden truths. Yes tarot can be used in spiritual practices but anyone can read tarot, psychic or not.

Question 4: What do all the cards mean?

Answer: If you own tarot cards, it should come with an explanation booklet. If you don't have one, there are tons of websites and apps that have explanations of the meaning of the cards. There are 78 cards. I do not have the time to explain them all 😅 Maybe I'll do some posts over time about specific cards.

Ways to cleanse your tarot cards:

• Put them on the windowsill under the Moon. The Moon rules intuition, psychic vision, and the unconscious mind. The light of the Moon resonates with the deck, infusing it with intuition enhancing energy. Leave them there overnight for best results.

• Cleanse them with herbs. People commonly use smoke from white sage to cleanse their tarot cards, but there’s many alternatives. Mugwort is cleansing and opens intuition. Mixed with lavender can help bring clarity of mind. Rosemary is widely accessible and a powerful cleanser as well, known for enhancing clarity of mind and smelling fabulous.

• Use visualization and breath work. Meditate for a few minutes holding your cards in your lap. Visualize that with each breath you are bringing in more and more light, until you are completely radiant. Then gently exhale over the cards. See the light in your body blowing across the cards, sweeping away all negativity.

The symbol floating between the two characters on the Two of Cups is called the Caduceus. Commonly, it is taken as a symbol of healing and health. In this tarot card the healing takes place for both individuals, as the healthy relationship between the two figures makes room for both parties to experience inner healing. Originally, this symbol was also called the Wand of Hermes. Hermes is the Greek god of communication, being the messenger of the gods. This represents how open communication is the key to any relationship. So next time you pull the two of cups, take note of how you communicate with those you love and ask if you and your partner give each other space for healing.
