Aaah! You've read "A Monster Calls"? Is your copy the original graphic novel copy or the non-illustrated? I want to buy it but I've heard that it's not as harrowing/heart-breaking/etc. without the pictures (as in, it doesn't pack as much of a punch), what's your opinion? Is it worth buying at all, considering you're thinking of giving it away? Haha. Sorry for the interrogation, I just haven't heard it mentioned on Bookblr before and it's something that I've been curious about for a while! x

Well now you got me curious and I kind of want to see the illustrations! I have the one with the blue-ish cover, the non-illustrated.

So my situation is, that i keep buying books although i have a temporary home. yeah, i’m a dummy. so eventually I’m going to have to give some of them away because i cant possibly carry lets say 30 books in my luggages etc. But I did like it. I needed all my strength to choke back my tears. Is it really more heartbreaking with the illustrations?

Your art is so wonderfully soothing! It has such a calm simplicity to it that I absolutely love, whenever I need cheering up I just come here and scroll around for a bit and feel at peace again in no time. I've put a comic as my phone wallpaper now for easy access. :-) Please never stop drawing! By the by, would you ever consider selling them on stuff (tees, tote bags, etc)?

I don’t think I could ever stop drawing again (besides my current little spate of art block, grumble grumble). I’d stopped drawing for about five years before I started again last year, and I never want to go back to that.

And YES I would love to sell things in the future! It is just a pie-in-the-sky daydream for now, though. At the moment, I’m really just trying to focus on improving my doodling and making sure it’s consistently good - a few splodges and wiggly lines are fine on Tumblr, but I feel like it needs to be considerably better than that if I were to ask people for money for it.

(And not just tees and totes - Mrs Hudson would be delighted to have her face emblazoned on a tea towel! Or or OR a Watson-shaped pepper grinder. IMAGINE THE DINNER PARTIES.)

I have been tagged in this thing by several people over a long period of time and I always tell myself I’ll do it later. Well, later has come. Thank you Klara kiranwearsscienceblues, Lady Lier ladylier, Erinn sans-mots, Kaeli sissy-spaceout,  Benji spaceboy96 (At some point, I think), and Dorian sootonthecarpet too. 

They’re all very similar sets of questions, so I’ve mashed them up into one ginormous godawful thing.

I have kept you all waiting long enough. 

Here goes:

Name(s): Manuela, but my friends call me Manny or Manoo.

Gender(s): Female (cis)

Height: I’m 5 feet, 1 inch, and a quarter of an inch. That quarter of an inch does not show up on any of my legal documents. I’m the smollest.

Where I live: In the summer, I live with my dad in Washington, DC. During the school year, I live in Montreal in a flat I share with teasdays and traumaticteacups, which is in the Concordia neighborhood. But joke’s on all of you, we don’t even go to Concordia. We are McGill students.

Orientation: Uhh… DEFINITELY am attracted to women and nonbinary femme people, and I’m not sure whether all those middle-school crushes on boys and elementary-school boy “fiances” were attraction or admiration or friendship of the result of social conditioning. 

URL Backstory: I made it by combining the names of MACaria, daughter of Heracles and star of one of Euripides’ plays, BouDICca, Iceni queen who led a bloody revolt against the Romans in Britain in revenge for the rape of her daughters, and CamILLA, the badass archer girl in the Aeneid. In case it wasn’t clear, I study classics. I have had the same url since I signed up for this website because #brand.

Middle name: Aha! Don’t have one. Parents thought two last names was enough. And my full name never fits on forms.

If you could own a fairytale creature, what would it be? I’ve always been a fan of sphinxes, but they’re too smart to be owned because they’re basically people with lion/bird bodies. I would want to be friends with a sphinx. Sphinx neighbour. Sphinx classmates.

Favourite colour: Blue (pretty much every blue) and all the hues close to blue. Also gold because it looks good with blues. Generally hues that look good with blues. (But blue and gold is like the best combo because it looks like the Ishtar gate and I have a pair of blue and gold lacy underthings and I feel like I’m Ishtar  whenever I wear them.)

Favourite song:   "Todo pasa y todo queda" by Joan Manuel Serrat. It was one of the  first two songs I learned in my life.

Top six fandoms: In order of joining: Classics (it’s real, it’s how I found tumblr), Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle), Sherlock (BBC), Cabin Pressure, Oscar Wilde, and last but greatest, Gay Omens.

Why do you love tumblr?  Because it never ceases to amuse me, I can find people with similar interests who like to make and share things, I get informed about important social issues and news, and because it’s full of nerds.

Most recently watched movie: Pulp fiction

Most recent google search: How to clean sandals. Because, you see, I wanted to clean some sandals.

Most recently read book: I’m never in the middle of less than five books at a time, but I finished American Gods a few days ago.
