Dr. Stephen Maturin (The Aubrey-Maturin Series)
Daisuke Jigen (Lupin the Third)
PROPAGANDA:
[Stephen]
"As a doctor with a complex relationship with gender and a fascination with the natural world and physical processes, he would be fascinated by a pregnancy. As a bonus, he has a decidedly weird relationship with gender."
"I mean just look at him. Also he has already performed abdominal surgery on himself. Might as well do a self c-section."
"better minds than mine have explained this. It is simply a natural progression of his experiences in the books."
"Stephen Maturin is a naval surgeon, naturalist, spy, and overall weird guy from a series of novels set during the Napoleonic wars. Your dad or uncle knows him. You could probably psychologically one-shot your dad or uncle with by telling them we are trying to get Stephen elected pregnant!
Stephen already has a canonical daughter, Brigid, whom he adores. He is fairly good with kids. He is always collecting animals and a baby is way cooler than an animal because you can teach it Catalan. And as a proto-scientist, would have a great time taking copious notes on the pregnancy and on infant development, even if he had unpleasant symptoms.
(His creator Patrick OâBrian, after having a couple rolls in his grave, would endorse unpleasant symptoms. Accidents and disease are happening to Stephen Maturin's body constantly, and that's not even counting the time he got tortured by the French.)
And did we mention the potential for drama? Stephen Maturin has an awesome wife, Diana, with whom he has a fraught relationship. They love each other. She leaves him at least three times. She wonât leave him if she gets him pregnant⌠probably.
Stephen also has a particular friend, Captain Jack Aubrey, who is practically glued at the hip to him for decades (1813 is at least six years long, donât worry about it) and is weirdly jealous of his friendships with other naturalists. Which could mean nothing.
I think Diana should knock him up by accident after he assured her there was no risk of her getting him pregnant. I think he should have an easy breezy time of it till month seven and say unforgivable things about how he doesnât understand why other mothers make such a fuss and then abruptly get unwell enough to be put on bed rest.
I also think the baby should start out looking more like his particular friend than his wife, just to put more strain on their marriage and stress him out. That's fun for me. That's fun for me.
Stephen Fact of the Day: Did you know that his canonical weight is nine stone or one hundred twenty-six pounds? On a man five foot six that's very little. We could fix that with a baby. He would no longer need to worry about being wafted away by stiff breeze or being carried off by a medium-sized owl."
"tumblr user @aurpiment really wants him to be pregnant (and makes very interesting posts about that, like this one or this one). i want tumblr user @aurpiment to be happy. also i think pregnancy + childbirth + having a baby would be enrichment for him."
