Girls just want to have FUN! Learning to be completely comfortable in my skin has led me to take calculated business risks that have opened opportunities I never would've imagined! Tracee Ellis Ross defines that part of each of us as women have, which is I want to be FREE to be me! Seeing her rock her two buns literally just gave me LIFE! I LOVE the versatility of my thick, wavy, sometimes BIG hair! Sure there are moments that I’m utterly frustrated and irritated with my inability to pull off a seemingly “simple” style I’ve watched repeatedly on YouTube! But then there are moments when I look at some of my pictures and sure my hair isn’t perfect in each of these pictures but it’s me!

My hair is coming colorful due to my latest expression of self, it’s unpredictable, and it’s also beautiful. As odd as it sounds I’ve had a LOVE/hate relationship with my hair since day one. Growing up my hair was this odd thing that brought attention to me being that I was a chocolate kid with crazy long hair. My Dad would spend hours braiding my hair and making intricate designs in my hair that many of the kids liked but envied. Oh my Dad grew up in his Dads barbershop and he took care of my hair and my moms until I was about twelve when Rob Willis began styling my hair. Since I can remember my hair has been mid back length or longer. At it longest it was two inches from my waist which is ENTIRELY too much hair for anyone in my opinion! So I get my hair trimmed every six weeks to maintain its current length which I sometimes feel is still too long! Mainly because I feel it makes me look extra young and I’m well into my thirties! Goodness, HOW did that happen?!

I digress, my hair is the one thing about me that I felt defined me. So when I felt confident enough in my womanhood I did a BIG CHOP and discovered that with or without hair I’m still myself!
