For Bim: 🍪 cookies & cream frappuccino – what brings them comfort?

For Kelio: 🔥 spicy lemonade – what makes them snap or lose their temper?

And for Tasuchat: 🍮 vanilla latte – what’s something sweet about them?

For Bim: What brings them comfort?

Bim is comforted by music and soundscapes, especially low frequency sounds. Not so much listening but also feeling the vibrations. Because of his upbringing he has a preferance for more artifical, droning sounds as opposed to natural ones.

For Kellio: What makes them snap or lose their temper?

Kellio cannot stand bullies. And while she would be able to ignore something directed at herself, if someone were to target her crew, her friends, her Skipper, it could escalate to her throwing hands.

For Tasuchat: What's something sweet about them?

He keeps a spreadsheet to keep track of his crewmate's likes and dislikes, and reactions to gifts. That way if he finds something interesting, he knows who might like it if he got it for them. And when the best time to give it to them might be.

What do you like about [⛱️] more than [🌴]?

Haha, the first holds their liquior the best out of the whole crew! Unfortunately that might be due to too much 'practice'. I'm not even sure the other could tolerate half a drink.

I think I'm just biased because I understand their species better. It's easier to picture their backstory for me. And they are a bit more developed in my head. Even if I've written more for the other.

Would Tasuchat and Kellio be interested in seeing Ceicive's terrarium pets?

Aside from the Xenoanthropologist, which other crew members of the Omelas do you think Bim would enjoy meeting if they got the chance to?

Would Tasuchat and Kellio be interested in seeing Ceicive’s terrarium pets?

Kellio would very much like to see the little critters! She might even try to pet one, though she would ask permission first. And Tasuchat would at least find them interesting. Especially if Ceicive has facts to share about them. They love fact collecting.

Aside from the Xenoanthropologist, which other crew members of the Omelas do you think Bim would enjoy meeting if they got the chance to?

The B/C engineer seems like the kind of person Bim would get along with. They just seem fun in general. He might enjoy asking Muna questions about herself and other Lurians. I also think that he would admire Doctor D'Hrava and her sheer detection to her work if that came through in their first meeting.

And even though it wasn’t asked but is still kinda on topic:

Vebdorians in general have an aversion to telepaths. So even though Bim isn’t into the whole ‘deception is survival’ mentality, Aerelai might make him a bit uncomfortable at first. And Bim himself is a ‘loose’ pacifist so R’aahs might be too intense for him. [ I only mention it because I find these kind of conflicts interesting]

S. S. Constantinople - Trouble in the Orion Bazaar

Meant to post this yesterday. Inspired by comments on my previous post. Yes I gave Tasuchat a cute poncho.

Headcannon: Vendorians are heterothermic, which means they change behaving as warm blooded or cold-blooded based on their metabolism and amount of activity. This for them includes mental activity. So to Cardassians that can see infrared, it looks like they are changing color!

[A bit of context: Bim and Tasuchat end up sharing a split quarters (two 'bedrooms' with a shared space in the middle)]

The private sections of their shared quarters, Tasuchat found out., were only a little bigger than a storage closet's worth of floor space. The bunk was inset into the right wall with a few storage drawers underneath. On the left wall was a small passage covered over by a manually opetated sliding door. It stuck a little as Tasuchat pulled, expecting to find some additional storage space. Instead he found a small "room" with a rather unique device, a standardrd head with some kind of sonic shower 'wand' attached by flexable cabeling. Interesting.

He placed his bags in the storage compartments beneath the bunk. It wasn't like him to be so careless but right now he was legitimately exhausted. At least physically. His mind was still racing as he laid there, curling up his tail to fit the onto the cot.

He noticed something... The room was set to the same environment controls as the shared space. It was dark enough, comfortably humid, though a little cold for his liking. But overall tolerable, expectally compared to the default on Federation run stations. Probably set by his new 'roomate'.

He rolled over, looking outward into the room. The environmental controls sat on the opposite wall, displaying the current temperature with soft red light.

"Computer, adjust environmental controls, room temperature target: 35 degrees."

The computer chriped, and the number on the controls rolled upward.

It was technically smaller than what he had on the station, but it was always nice to have a space distictly his. Where he could close the doors and turn up the temperature. It was almost like being a child again. Excited to have his own room in the house his parents had built for their family.

He missed that house.

He missed his family.

But it was a too late to turn back now. And at least he could contact them. He knew that they were safe.

That they were, at last, so proud of him.

"Hey, new kid,"

Tasuchat attention jumped up from the PaDD. It was the old man, Mr. Quibb. They were about eye height with each other with Tasuchat sitting there, but he still wondered if it would be more respectful to stand or...

"Come to the office, I need your help with something..." Quibb continued.

"Yes, sir." Tasuchat said with a nod. He followed Mr. Quibb down the corridor. Shortining his steps to never step in front of the first officer.

"I could never figure it out," he said, "But apparently they're a way to connect the scales on the anti-grav sleds to the computer and log the cargo weight. Sure beats doing it by hand, I'd say."

He looked up at Tasuchat, offering a small smile, but Tasuchat just gave a nod,

"Yes sir, I can assist with that."

"I heard you know a lot about that computer stuff. Now I'm not a luddite, it's just got used to the way things worked before. They are always coming out with something new every few years. It's a lot to keep up with."

This time Tasuchat paired his nod with a short, contemplative 'hm'.

"You don't talk much kid, do you?"

They paused. The young man scanned Mr. Quibb's face for meaning.

"I'm sorry, sir," he stated with a small frown, "I was taught that when my elders speak I am to listen. I meant it to be respectful."

"Ah, so your not just tuning me out so you can day dream about taking my job?"

Tasuchat tensed,

"N-no, sir, not at all!"

Mr. Quibb let out a small chuckle, and he relaxed slightly.

"I'm just teasing you kid, relax."

Backstory Mystery Boxes!

These are the backstories of three (3) out of the six (6) members of the Constantinople crew. To both have them in writing and avoid potential spoilers / ruining future plot twists, I’m going to put them here and you can just guess who is who!

#1 They were an only child and grew up on their home planet. Their parents already had it in their minds what they wanted from their child the moment they were expecting. However, as a child their talents didn’t match the expectation put upon them. They were very talented, if also a bit ‘strange’ compared to other members of their species. Their parents were obviously disappointed, but over time came to realize their disappointment was self-inflicted. They allowed their child to pursue their passion which eventually let them get a spot on the Constantinople. Some part of them still was affected by their perceived failure to meet expectations. They are especially self-conscious about how different their behavior is from that of other members of their species and how much it makes them stand out.

#2 They grew up off of their homeworld raised mostly by extended family / relatives. From a young age they were prepared to follow in their footsteps when it came to occupation. They were also the only child in the immediate vicinity of where they were raised. Many people doted over them, constantly encouraging them and praising them, but also protecting them from any kind of difficulty. And they strongly benefited from nepotism, basically gifted their position on the Constantinople. But have a position that actually required responsibility was a wake-up call. Suddenly things were difficult. Not impossibly difficult, but there was no one else to take over their responsibilities. They had to learn fast and sometimes the hard way. But they adapted. What’s more they turned out to be actually good at their job, even if they don’t feel like it. In their mind, if they were doing such a good job, why was it hard?

#3 They are the middle child of Star Fleet officers. Not getting as much attention as their siblings led them to be very independently minded. They quietly develop their talents on their own, and developed a strong set of beliefs based off of what they saw in the world around them. Once the time came, they left their family home, seeking adventure among in the stars. (They knew, from their parents, that is where all the *cool* stuff happens.) They are physically distant from their families now but still make an effort to keep in touch. They have no regrets about joining the Constantinople, in their eyes she is the finest ship to ever fly. But that could just be the wanderlust talking.
