Dance Recital
[Charlie]
Charlie was able to plan a dance recital for the kids at the school and he made sure to tell Tate what day it would be since it would be a musically talented art exhibit. There would be singing, dancing, rapping, and even instrument playing. Everything was set up and Charlie was helping make the finishing touches.
There were different sections of camp that were set up with each of the categories. He spent a lot of time making sure that the kids would enjoy themselves and be able to learn about their talents and appreciate the talent of others. The male was in the back as he was helping the kids get ready before hearing someone was there to see him.
[Tate]
“Hey sorry, I didn’t want to distract or interrupt you. Just wanted to say good luck.” He told Charlie before smiling at one of the kids that walked past. “There are a lot of people here to watch.”
[Charlie]
Charlie turned around and saw Tate. He couldn’t help the smile as he told the kid he would be right back. Walking over, he gave Tate a kiss. “I am glad you could make it. I was worried you might get called in or something.” He tells him with a small laugh.
[Tate]
“Well everyone in the camp is here.” He joked. “So if anyone has an emergency, I will be here with the rest of the doctors.” He smiled. “I told you, most people support the events in the camp. There aren’t many.”
[Charlie]
“Well hopefully that will change because I plan on there being a spring and fall exhibition so that way the kids have something to look forward to.” He smiles before hearing that the event was about to start. “There is a seat reserved for you in the front. I can meet up with you after the show.” Charlie smiles before giving him another kiss and then going over and helping the kids get in position.
[Tate]
“Okay, well good luck.” Tate smiled before heading back into the audience and taking a seat. He started talking to the people next to him before hearing the show was starting.
[Charlie]
Charlie helped with the finishing touches before the curtains opened and the kids took the stage. There were the younger ones as young as 5 and older ones as old as 18.
Everything went swimmingly as the dancing portion had come to an end. Next was the singing and then the rapping.
[Tate]
Tate watched the performances in the audience and clapped for each of the kids as he did.
[Charlie]
Once it was over the curtain closed to wait for the next round of artists to come perform. There was an intermission for everyone so they could get up and stretch their legs.
[Tate]
Once intermission started, Tate got up and bought some snacks on sale from one of the kids' parents. They talked for a while about the show before the lights flicked and he walked back to his seat for the rest of the show.
[Charlie]
Charlie came out to watch the rest of the performances as he sat down next to Tate. “Are you enjoying it so far?” He asks as he takes the others hand.
[Tate]
“Oh, it’s great. Everyone is having so much fun. And the dance routines are amazing. I mean I am sure more people will sign up.”
[Charlie]
Charlie smiles, “Well I sure hope they do. These kids have talent for sure.” He smiles before the lights go down and the next phase of the show begins. Once everything was over, he had noticed a few people had already started to leave since it was getting late. “Did you want me to make us something to eat?”
[Tate]
“No, I’m okay. The camp will probably party after this. Makes no sense to go home when you can celebrate with everyone.” He said before seeing the campfire getting lit. “But if you are tired you can head home, I mean I understand if you would be. You worked hard tonight.”
[Charlie]
“Well no, I meant did you want to spend some time together. You know…away from all this? But if you want us to stay then we can stay too.” He tells the other with a shrug. “I mean they can’t party too much. There are kids that need to sleep after their performances today.”
[Tate]
Tate looked at him in curiosity, “It’s the weekend? The kids won’t have school, so why do they need to sleep?” He asked before laughing. “Again I don’t mind you heading to bed if you are tired, we can hang out later.”
[Charlie]
“Kids can mess up their sleep schedules if they stay up too late and then it messes with the ability to focus in school when they do have it. I used to stay up all the time and then when I had to start my lessons the next day it was not a fun time I can assure you of that.” He laughs slightly.
“I am not tired. I am far from it. Yeah I guess we could hang out later provided you aren’t needed at work tomorrow unless you just meant like in general on another day.”
[Tate]
“Yeah I took the day off, I mean most of the camp did for the wedding? Aren’t you going to that too? The whole island is invited and I was just planning on seeing you afterwards.”
[Charlie]
“Oh you mean my parents' wedding? Yeah of course I am going to be at that. I think my dad has the bachelor party tonight which I can tell you he is not very thrilled about. He was practically throwing a fit and my brothers and I have to be on dad watch.”
[Tate]
“Oh gosh.” He laughed. “Well I hope you have fun. I think bachelor parties are supposed to be, so hopefully he lightens up. It is the day before he gets married…or remarried.”
[Charlie]
“I think it’s more of renewing their vows while also giving my mom her dream wedding type of thing if that makes sense.” He says with a small shrug. “I don’t know what my sister is planning but knowing my sister it’s probably something my dad is strongly against.” Charlie laughed.
[Tate]
“Which sister? You have three right?” He double checked before nodding. “I am sure they wouldn’t do something that he would truly hate. He must have given them some kind of idea of what to do.”
[Charlie]
“I do, yes. Hope was the one who planned it. It’s probably something with strippers since she thinks my dad needs to have some fun but he isn’t too thrilled about them. Well obviously his idea is to not have one and just spend the entire time with my mom but you know…he can’t.”
[Tate]
“Hm strippers aren’t that bad, he will have fun. So I will see you tomorrow then? I mean well I will see you probably won’t see me but I will see you.” He joked.
[Charlie]
“It was rather funny that we had to drag him to his last one. Then he snuck off and went to see my mom anyway because he didn’t want to spend the night without her.” He thought for a moment.
“Also, I already asked my parents. Would you want to come sit with me? All the family is bringing their significant others so I figured I would extend the invitation to you to see if you wanted to.”
[Tate]
Tate was a little confused, “Were you going to invite me before I said anything? The wedding is tomorrow…don’t you think you should of…I don’t know…asked me before so I could have bought a suit?”
[Charlie]
“Yeah, I was going to invite you. Since the wedding was sort of short notice and I had to clear it with my mom and dad first. You know one of the perks of being my father’s son is that I have magic and since you are right about the short notice, I can have you one in no time flat. You would just have to come back with me to my place and we can do that there and then come back to the party if you want.”
[Tate]
“Um….why do we have to go back to your place for a suit?” He asked in confusion. “I just, I don’t understand. You didn’t even know if I had tomorrow off. Shouldn’t you have asked earlier to make sure I had the day off? And then you asked if we were hanging out when you knew you had a wedding to go to…none of this is making sense Charlie. It kinda feels like you thought of it last minute.”
[Charlie]
The more he thought about what Tate was saying the more it made sense that his reasoning wasn’t making much sense. “I-“ He cut himself off. “Sorry, I was jumping ahead again. I got too excited to spend time with you is all. The order of the wedding has been all over the place so yeah it can be confusing.”
“You just said you would be off for the wedding earlier so unless that changed in the past five minutes I don’t see why I would need to ask if you are available if you told me you were?”
[Tate]
“You don’t need to apologize. I just mean you probably should have asked days ago if I was taking the day off. If I wasn’t and you just asked me now to go to a wedding, finding someone to cover my shift would be impossible. And it’s not like we wouldn’t have been able to spend time together, I would have just been with all the commoners.” He joked slightly.
[Charlie]
“The whole island has the day off for the wedding? And my dad proposed what three days ago and they didn’t tell us until they planned the bachelor parties. I guess you could say my family isn’t really planners, they are more spontaneous which I guess is where I get that from.” He shrugged.
[Tate]
“Well no not all of us, one of us do have to stay at the hospital. E’s don’t stop snapping for a wedding.” He smiled before laughing slightly. “Um…spontaneous and you aren’t really words I would use together, but I will be at the wedding.”
[Charlie]
“So then you want to sit outside the church and not inside? I am confused.” Charlie says as his eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
[Tate]
“I mean…if your mom and dad are fine with it, then yeah I can sit with you. What time do I need to be there?”
[Charlie]
“Well I will be helping my dad get ready with the rest of my brothers and the wedding is at 6pm for the sunset. It will take people a while to file inside so maybe 5:30pm?” He asks. “Did you still want to try on suits tonight or are you okay with what you have?”
[Tate]
“Cool, I will make sure to be there then.” He smiled. “No I think the one I have is pretty nice, I mean I have been to the castle two times now and your mom and dad haven’t hated my outfits so I will be fine.”
[Charlie]
“Mhm okay.” He nods. “So then yeah I think I will head to bed to prepare for tomorrow but I will see you then. Make sure that you get some sleep.” Charlie smiles before giving him a kiss that lingered for a few seconds.
[Tate]
Tate kissed him back before pulling away and smiled, “I will see you tomorrow.” He said before kissing the boy again and then leaving.
