Energy Update: Do you like tentacles?, or: welcome to the lunar eclipse in Scorpio
I can feel my energy sinking lower into my body as we begin to settle into the energy of this lunar eclipse in Scorpio. It's still half a week away but I can already feel it. That is what the Scorpio full moon is all about, feeling. That deep still watery depth where it lies. If Cancer and Pisces swim in the ocean, I always imagine Scorpio as the cold stillness of a glacial pool.
Walk by it if you dare.
Maybe it's the unnatural quietude that gives you pause. Shouldn't there be birds singing? Why isn't there a breeze? Why do you feel like you are being watched?
There are two kinds of people: those that are drawn into the depths and those that run from it. Which one are you, and can you step out of that role? Can you make a choice the next time that the depths appear?
We don't always have to jump in headfirst. Trying telling that to a Scorpio, though.
Our Sun is in Taurus and opposed to our soon-to-be Scorpio moon. Taurus just wants to know what is going to happen tomorrow; to be secure in the surety of it all. That doesn't naturally agree with diving headfirst into that pool with no life preserver. When Scorpio goes too deep, Taurus can ground out the energy and bring them back to earth. When Taurus becomes too entrenched, Scorpio is the tentacle that can drag them out of their comfort zone.
That's how sun sign opposites work - they are so similar, while also being completely different, and they NEED each other. Very deeply.
Need is very important to Scorpionic energy - they need to feel and experience everything from that deep space that they seemingly endlessly inhabit.
As a Taurus, I rather like Scorpio energy, as you might guess. I'm sorta into the tentacles. I'm in for that ride. First in line. Sign me up.
That said, if Scorpio energy isn't your thing, this may be a weekend (and into Monday night) to lay low. Sit this one out if you can. Stay home so long as home is an emotionally safe space to be in.
Don't pick that fight. I've been saying that a lot lately but you cardinal signs have been kicked around by the planets for the last two years and we can tell. This weekend has red flags and long nights written all over it.
To get really meta here, this weekend the price could easily become too high.
When it is, you'll know. Listen to that.
This is our second eclipse in this cycle, expect to revisit things that happened around the time of the first eclipse (4/30) and also things from six months early on the lunar eclipse in Taurus (11/19/21). What comes up now may play a part throughout this entire Taurus-Scorpio nodal cycle.
Remember to navigate this eclipse as safely as possible: look before you leap, duck out of the way of those lightning bolts meant for somebody else, and stay aware. If you are directed to exit on stage left, do it.
The Moon will be conjunct the South Node with a close degree of exactitude which makes this a total solar eclipse. It will be viable all throughout the US on the night of 5/16 - this is a night to be out and present with the moon. Watch the way that the energy changes as we cross her path and block out the light of the sun. Feel the shift of the energy between solar and lunar. (lol I've watched Avatar too many times but it's not wrong it's just...wrong)
Do what you need to do on Monday night. For me, that will definitely be staring adoringly at the moon. And howling, we always howl.
If you need to stay in, by all means, stay in. Treat yourself with care if this brings up too much. Don't jump in that pool if you can't swim. Nobody is making you.
But it's tempting right now.
I get that.
And happy swimming for the rest of y'all.
