The Fiordland penguin is endemic to New Zealand. It once lived on both islands, but the arrival of humans and invasive species drove them to the southernmost part of the South Island.

Fiordland Crested Penguin (Tawaki) Marching Up the Beach, Lake Moeraki, New Zealand. 2017.11.3 ‘日本のJAZZ’ CLA-6 tracklist (tawaki)

1. T. Honda＋Mama T. / misty (from LP ‘misty' 1976 / trio records） https://www.discogs.com/.../T-Honda-Mama.../release/3905641 本田竹廣のピアノトリオがアメリカ人ヴォーカリストMama T.をフィーチャーし、横田基地内でおこなったライブ盤。米兵たちの盛り上がりが凄い。シンプル、パワフル、ソウルフルの三拍子揃った屈指の好盤。

2. 浅川マキ / 港町（from LP 'maki Ⅳ' 1974 / express） https://www.discogs.com/ja/浅川マキ-Maki-VI/release/1042789 ピアノに山下洋輔、ベースに稲葉国光、ドラムに森山威男、サックスに坂田明を従えたジャズ色濃厚なライヴ盤。山下洋輔作曲の「港町」は場末感あふれる名曲。歌詞はアフロアメリカンのラングストン・ヒューズ。ちなみにゲイリー・バーツの大名曲I've Known Riversもラングストン・ヒューズの詩を使っています。

3. Glenn Horiuchi / dream water （from LP 'next step' 1988 / asian improv records） https://www.discogs.com/.../Glenn.../release/3749422 日系三世ジャズピアニストのファーストアルバム。アメリカ在住アジア人の地位向上のために活動したアクティビストとしての側面もある人物。dreamwaterという曲は黒人女性のヴォーカルをフィーチャーしたバラード。最高のスピリチュアルジャズです。

4. Terumasa Hino Sextet / be and know （from LP ‘fuji’ 1972 / Victor） https://www.discogs.com/.../Terumasa-Hino.../release/3903629 リリース数の多い日野皓正ですが、本盤はメロディメイカーとしての資質を遺憾なく発揮したスピリチュアルジャズ盤。フリーの側面が強くなく、同時期の他のヒノテル音源に比べると聴きやすい。アメリカでは西海岸のジャズレーベルCatalystからリリースされています。本盤に収録された名曲be and knowは日野皓正クインテットの『LIVE!』（1973, three blind mice）でも聴けます。こちらは30分弱の長いライヴ演奏ですが、日本のJAZZの中で最も好きな曲のひとつです。

5. Sadao Watanabe / Mbali Africa ~ Encore:Tanzania E (from LP ‘mbali africa’ 1974 / cbs sony) https://www.discogs.com/.../Sadao.../release/3825776 渡辺貞夫がアフリカに傾倒している時のライヴ音源（郵便貯金ホール）。実際にアフリカ旅行をおこない、そこでインスパイアを受けて作った楽曲が収めらています。ピアノに本田竹廣、ベースに鈴木勲、岡沢章、ドラムに日野元彦、トランペットに日野皓正、ギターに渡辺香津美、パーカッションに冨樫雅彦という最強メンバー。ナベサダ流「俺のアフリカ」節が炸裂しています。

6. Kenji Mori Quartet / firebird part 1&2 （from LP ‘firebird’ 1977 / three blind mice） https://www.discogs.com/.../Kenji-Mori.../release/2953555 サックス、フルート奏者、森剣治の作品。ジャズというフォーマットにはまり切らない自由度の高いthree blind mice盤。表題曲のfirebirdは森剣治のリコーダー（縦笛）演奏が光るアフログルーヴ。
