THR spends a day with James Spader, Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff and the rest of Red's FBI crew at their Chelsea Piers soundstage in NYC, complete with dead bodies, pregnancy bellies and Spader's collection of custom suits.
Among items stored in the show's costume warehouse are James Spader's suits, which are custom-made in-house -- from winter wools to summer mohair and linen looks. For the second episode, "The Freelancer," Spader had an unusual request, according to costume designer Christine Bean: "He was wearing his first tuxedo and wanted his socks specifically to be oxblood, which is perfect because his name is Red. We had 15 different shades ready." At any time, Spader can choose among eight fedoras from Manhattan's J.J. Hat Center, and always on hand are two pairs of Oliver Peoples aviator sunglasses.
